Some of you may remember me from my previous post back in January that shared the HZ.01 pre-sale event. We delivered all watches to schedule, receiving fantastic feedback from our supporters, and have now released an updated version based on feedback to try and make the HZ.01 an even better value proposition.

For those that I haven't chatted with previously - my name is Matt, and through starting a small personal project to build myself a watch, have ended up founding Hz Watches - Australia's newest watch microbrand. I'm a long-time lurker here, and thanks to this site I've been able to jump onto a range of good deals, especially flights and watches.

The HZ.01 (version 2) retains all of the features and specifications of the HZ.01 (full list of specifications below), however we have made the following updates:

• added a new colourway in black
• increased the size of the date window by 0.5mm for greater legibility
• added a screw down crown for greater peace of mind in the wet
• added 2 additional coatings of superluminova to the indices to increase legibility in low-light conditions

The HZ.01 (v2) pre-order window will open at 9AM on Saturday the 15th of June for 48 hours only, where all variants will be priced at the original pre-order price of $249, which will revert to the RRP of $349 once the 48-hour window closes.

As a thank you to the OzBargain community for the support I received during the initial launch, any orders placed using the discount code "OZBARGAIN" will receive an additional free strap with quick release spring bars (choice of leather / rubber which will be confirmed via email before deliveries commence in October 2024).

Case dimensions: Diameter 38.5mm * Height 9.85mm

Additional case dimensions: 20mm lug width, 46mm lug to lug (case length)

Weight: 45 grams (including attached strap and titanium buckle)

Case material: Grade five titanium case

Crystal: Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating

Crown: Screw down titanium crown, signed with logo

Lume: Swiss superluminova BGW9 (hands and numerals)

Movement: Swiss Ronda 507 quartz movement with day/date function

Dial: 2 layer construction with sunburst dial, and raised concentric circle sector dial

  Looks interesting, not my type of watch (too small and not an Auto) but good price for a Ti case with saphire crystal and styling is interesting, don't remember seeing anything similar.

    Thank you! Hoping to create a name for ourselves in the industry as one of the best value for money microbrands - lots more exciting things to come, but we will be focusing on quartz in keeping with the brand's identity

    After a few years of wearing mechanical watches with the wrong times constantly, I started looking into Quartz was because I couldnt keep up with winding and setting all of the watches in my collection - not to mention astronomical service costs. Fantastic to hear that you're keen to get one, I'm happy to mix and match straps as well if you think up your preferred combo!

  I didn't buy one when you first released mostly due to the very things that you've now fixed up. Although I'm on a self-imposed watch diet I am sorely tempted, because I also believe that it's important to support the microbrands who are trying to make a real difference. Thanks for sharing!

    That's fantastic to hear that we've addressed those things! I definitely understand that feeling, so you'll have the full 48 hours once the window opens to decide! We do very much plan to be around for the future and are in this for the long run, having started research and development into our own in-house movement following the success of the HZ.01 launch, so you can always revisit once the watch diet is over!
