How can you laugh when full-priced women's shoes are 30% off??

      • +9

        because it's off RRP mate.

if OZBargian had doors, DJ would be laughed out the door.

      • +1

I've been wanting these Marcs flats for almost a year now and they haven't been on sale ONCE yet! Hopefully they're included tomorrow!

  • +1

Basically, a waste of time for Ozbargainers.

  • +1

they also have 50% off all music, dvds and electronic games.

    • +3

My local has games from years ago still at full price, won't be wasting my time trying to get Halo 3 for 50% off $99.95…

    • Half price Black Ops 2?!

  • +1

Naughty David Jones! It looks like they are trying to cash in on Click Frenzy - without officially being involved in it! See http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/82102 for info.

  • +1

well its overpriced to start with…so yea, not really the "ozbargainy type of bargain"

    • -3

selling at RRP is not overpriced and what would happen if retailer such as David Jones falls which employees tens of thousands of staff and the dollar drops back to 50 US cents per dollar?

      • +9

might as well say anarchy in australia because DJ falls…

businesses falls because they can't keep up with the times. simple as that.

20 years ago, i' be typing on a manual typewriter and posting it onto a column where scotty the editor will pick and publish on a ozbargain community newsletter.

        • dont get me wrong, I am all for bargains as a devoted ozbargainer.
What I was saying is that you should not neg just because DJ usually sell at RRP.
And also that I for one will be supporting local retailer by shopping at DJ tomorrow.

        • +1

tough crowd here as always ;)

        • even when DJ sells something at RRP years after all other stores have dropped the prices…?

        • +2

          @pkwak
your logic is flawed. if you don't mind buying RRP and from local shops only, you'd probably have no use for ozbargain to begin with. (ie. hand in your badge mister.)

supporting local retailers who gives good services is a different thing altogether.

saying that paying high prices to get good services is like having the horse before the cart.

if you really want to consider welfare, then donate to charity and claim less deductions. ;)

ps. it's naive to even think that by paying RRP and buying locally will help to keep jobs, because the CEOs that these companies hire will not at the very slightest, think like you.

      • oh, no…… i am a little surprised to see people like you on ozbargain.

i used to believe people on ozb were generally more rational, rather than emotional.

        • well, I do apologize for considering people's welfare as well as my own. But wouldn't it be hell, if everyone acted for their own interest only?

    • It's rare but I've found a few bargains or best prices at DJs.

  • will the men's suites be discounted too? wont really buy one suite from them, just give me more confidence to try on those branded stuff. after 20% off, a z zegna or hugo boss suit still costs over $1k, while you only need to pay $800 any time for a same good one from bluefly.

  • +8

The point of all these sales was to try and lure our money away from overseas retailers. To do that you need at least a few "spectacular" deals. This is no better than a regular sale.

  • -7

    rubbish

  • +2

Frenzy? Meh…More like a slow amble at best…

  • Myer's having a similar deal tomorrow

  • it's frenzy of lulz!

  • +1

A few good ones… 30% off nudie jeans!, 15% off fragrances, 20% small appliances
But overall djs city is the best for shopping, great experience

    • +1

30% off $249 is still $174.30. I saw LAX selling nudie jeans for $100 - $120. Considering they once sold them for $99, $120 is still pretty overpriced, never mind $170.

      • What are you talking about? Slim Jim nudies are 199 on LAX, same full price at djs, down to $140. I'd be getting mine at djs

        • hmm. You're in sydney? I tried on a couple of nudies (can't remember the model) the other day in adelaide's LAX and the price was about there. I think there were a couple of $150s too tho so you might be right.

        • I didn't even know that lax have stores, had never heard of them, I had to google them and found their web site , but yeah they only reduce selected stock, this sale, like all dj sales, includes everything in the brands. It's easier for people like me who just hate paying full price when we find something we like

        • Best to buy your nudies from revolve clothing. Or try it first at david jones then buy it online from revolve clothing. They provide free fast shipping for items above $100 from USA. I picked up a pair of tape ted organic 16 dips for my bf at $105usd, with a 30% off first time customer discount. It's about $179 at maple store Newtown.

Edit: oh wait. Didn't read there was 30% off at David jones. Well if you have find the style size and colour online sure. But there's more selection online. I can't find sizes in David jones!

      • yes 30% is not that great. I have bought Nudies from David Jones before in clearance sale, good styles too for between $80-$120.

    • I wonder if the KitchenAid mixer would be considered as a small appliance?

      • +2

they always have exclusions for premium brands that are never on sale (apple/miele etc etc.)
I think kitchen aid falls under this category.

  • +2

Maybe their marketing team should have planned this on Thursday, for a few reasons.
Late Night shopping, give people a chance to get out there.
Some peoples Pay days are mid week (money in the bank) impulse buying.

  • So no xbox or PS3 console deals at all? I've got DJ gift voucher and want to get my boy a new console.

  • Trying to buy something off the David Jones website but it keeps crashing when I try to checkout. Can't say I'm surprised though.

  • I've had a look at a few things that supposedly qualified, but I can't seem to see any 30% discount when I checkout… hmmm…

  • +1

Website still super slow for me. Feels like boxing day rush except it's just people sitting in front of their computer/tablet/phone hitting the reload button.

    • It took 60 seconds to load the pdf flyer page from the link above. The home page isn't even loading for me, after 2 mins! Is this why they didn't join CF ?

Edit: it's half loaded now lol

Edit2: Annnnnnnd crash! Got their Christmas Frenzy high volume error page

  • +1

So i went to the Wollongong store and it includes 50% off consoles. Picked up a Slim 320gb for $224.95. Not the most recent model, the one before that.

    • That seems… unexpected…

happen to see how much the 360 was selling for?

    • They have console 50% off? May not every DJ.

How much is Halo 4 there?

      • No Halo 4 or any game released in the last 6 months. DJ's (at least mine is) isn't getting new games anymore

    • +1

I just went to the Sydney CBD store and they had 50% off consoles too. There was a large number of 3DS's available - original price is $249.95 so they'll come down to $124.95. There was a couple of PS3's as above as well which would come down to the same price ($224.95). They also had an Xbox 360 MW3 edition which would come down to $264.95 I think, based on the sticker price.

Apart from the consoles the rest of the offerings were pretty weak, but if you want a console it'll be difficult to find a better price on many of them.

      • Mine had the MW3 console and also a football game console pack as well. That price sounds about right.

      • Managed to get the 320gb MW3 edition 360 for $199… no idea why it was this price instead of ~$260, maybe because it was the last one? I didn't argue! :)

  • 50% off David Jones = double the price of a normal retailer

  • I think they've given up on their online shop — for today at least.

    • -3

      They show give up lol.

    • i wouldn't think that's "giving up"… it's more like they can't even if they want to.

if they were even semi-serious, their IT CIO would've went for a cdn hosting.

      • I mean they should give up their online shopping, typing too fast :p

Their web site won't load at all at the moment.

  • Thank you
Picked up Xbox 360 4gig rugby pack $99
Beatles Stereo Box Set 16 disc set $165

  • Game of thrones season 1 bluray came down to $25.
