It's a shame the button to change connections is underneath

    • +1

Yeah, I defs use it more often than the charging port.

So for those considering this model merely because of usb-c - you only need it once every several weeks/months. Source: using my MX Master whole day at work and after hours via BT.

      • +1

The other factor would be the soft click mouse buttons. I don't mind it, its a nice change from MX Master 1& 2.
People can try them out if their local Officeworks or stores have it on display.

        • Nice, mine is older, so no soft clicking. I wish it was though.

      • +1

Yeh the runtime is great. Options software could be more useful on battery life though. Only warning I get is at battery critical stage and the battery meter only shows Full, Good and Critical. I think BT connection reports proper percentage though doesn't it? (I don't normally use it that way.)

I probably change between computers and tablets atleast 20 times a day. Means don't need multiple keyboards and mice on desk

        • +1

My bad, by connections I thought you meant between Bluetooth and wireless. I did not know you could have it connected to different devices. I learnt something new today.

        • Try logitech flow, it can go between devices

Mouse without borders - amazing app that is a part of the Powertoys suite.

Unlucky if you have a really restricted work laptop, but otherwise this will solve your problem if you are using 2 computers side by side.

I have an MX Master 3 at home and a M720 at work, and I really dislike the button to change connections being on top on the M720, I hit it by accident multiple times a week, then lose connection, look for the cursor, realise what has happened and have to switch it back. This can't happen with it on the bottom, so that's my preferred location.

What the hell is Zip? Is there a deal without needing to sign up to another random data collecting entity?

    • +1

      $10 off with HGT120

    • PayPal, AfterPay, GooglePay, Zip and they keep coming.
And then if you're tight on cash having to live the life of muckarsing around with codes and wait to be albe to afford things is already a pain, this just adds to it.

      Stuff 'em all.

  • I got the white Mac version to use on my Windows PC (goes well with my white mechanical keyboard), my model doesn't work wired - only via bluetooth or logitech lightning receiver. My PC's bluetooth is dodgy at times, so i got a receiver for ~$20

    • This is my biggest issue. Inability to use it wired.

Bought one 2 years ago during black Friday for around $100. Hasn't skipped a beat. Great product.

  • +9

Note that this one uses a "Bolt" receiver and is different from a "unifying" receiver. If you have a keyboard which is on unifying, you'll need a separate USB port for the bolt for this mouse.

Learnt it the hard way after buying this.

Models upto MXmaster 3 (not S) were on unifying.

The MX Vertical is great for anyone who gets RSI from prolonged mouse use. I used to get a lot of shoulder and wrist pain, but since switching to the Vertical it's gone.

    • It's an amazing mouse, anyone on the fence just get it and you won't look back!

    • I’ve got de quervains tenosynovitis and physio suggested an mx vertical. I picked one up $60 off fb so $100 new is a good deal. I recommend it esp if you have a largish hand.

  • +1

MX Vertical needs an update, it's still using the older Unify receiver while many newer products have transitioned to Bolt.

Unify or Bolt can be good or bad depending on your other devices.

Bought a Lift instead, but it is smaller and prefer the size of MX.

In theory, a vertical mouse should minimise RSI related issues, but it introduces addition wrist movement when switching between mouse and keyboard.

Started using a vertical mouse 4 months ago, mouse works great, but getting pain in right arm 2-3 months ago and getting worse. Got a referral for MRI, meanwhile thinking about switching back to a normal mouse.

  • Highly recommend the verticle, ive owned both and its significantly more comfortable.

I was concerned my gaming would suffer, but after a day or two of getting used to it, i preform just as well in all games (shooters included).

    • +3

That tells me you’re not a real gamer 😂

      • My Partner would have a laugh at that statement!

        What entails a real gamer?

    • Honestly, I just wish they'd give us the features of the MX Master in Vertical form.

  • I still have the first one which is so good. No need to upgrade yet.

  • +1

The rubber on these tend to degrade after a while, especially in humid environments (or if you have sweaty hands I guess).

    • +1

It sure does, I left my in the drawer after getting the Lift. Just switched back to the 3S, it's sticky.

Both connected to the same Bolt receiver, I will be switching between the two on and off.

    • The annoying thing is that it occurs on things that have been left unused too long. Its not wear and tear but from lack of usage.

      • +1

It a bit of both. The soft rubber breaks down with both age and use. I use mine daily and it's starting to degrade in higher friction areas. I really wish they'd stop using this stuff - it never, ever lasts.

  • +1

The MX Master is an excellent product - highly recomended.

  • Wish it has scroll wheel left/right like anywhere 2s. Coming from anywhere 2s will need some getting used to.

    • I can see that in the pic right up there. Does it not have it?

      • +2

Sorry I wasn’t talking about the side scroll wheel. I meant that you can push the middle scroll wheel to the left and right on anywhere 2s.

    • +1

I'm still on the 2s because of the side scroll buttons, but apparently the 3s can do it by holding a thumb button and scrolling the wheel. Seems like a reasonable compromise.

    • Yeah that's one thing I kinda wished/expected, still enjoy using the mouse without it tho but would have been nice

This is by far the best mouse I've ever owned. I originally had another more expensive "gamer" Logitech mouse but was having severe wrist pain due to using it 12+ hours a day. I got the MX Master 3S because it's slightly tilted and I've been free from pain since.

  • -1

The charging port is underneath? For real? It’s USB C on the MX Master 3 and it’s near the buttons so you can have it plugged in and continue using it. Weird. Thought the 3S was the same - only difference being the soft, almost silent click.

  • Have had the 3S for about a month.
Very good mouse. Only thing that irks me a bit is the that verticle scroll wheel is angled toward you, when it should be angled away from you to follow the natural rotation of your hand. Yes, these are the big issues in my life…

Oh and my work won't allow installation of anything on their computers which kind of nerfs it, although still usable.

  • +1

I highly recommend this mouse (and the keyboard equivalent, MX Keys).
Jamie and I use them when working on the podcast all the time.

    • not sure if JoeRogan or JoeBogan

  • I have been waiting for this.. i hope you get the hoodie for this post

    Thanks OP

  • Recently (2 weeks ago) for 80$ on eBay with 30$ retention voucher, great mouse but too big for me, now I have to replace switches on 720 one

  • +1

The MX Master 3 (previous model to the 3S) has USB-C as well.
