Good price on the new version of this controller that now features upgraded Hall Effect joysticks and currently sells for A$89.95 on Amazon AU. The older Pro 2 controller without hall effect was most recently A$66.02 making this deal even better.

Compared to the 8BitDo Ultimate series controllers this one has better devices compatibility due to X/D input support. Plus you can get it in a real nice classic colour scheme This controller officially supports Apple iOS, Android, Nintendo Switch, Windows, SteamOS and the Raspberry Pi.

Currently only the colours Grey and G-Classic can be shipped with hall effect joysticks, as the colour black isn't available. The older ALPS joystick controllers (prone to drift) are instock on the same listing so don't select those.

  • Waiting for the controller expert, @RichardL opinion on this one.

Somehow I have a single use US$6 off US$12 voucher for the 8BitDo store so it would be good to use it on something good.

    • +2

I have the original Pro 2 without the hall-effect joysticks, so cannot comment on the new hall-effect joysticks model.

The Pro 2 is my daily controller, that I can connect to almost any device I own (tablet, switch, pc, etc).

Was waiting for sale for local stock to pick one up but this deal is tempting…

      • I have the original one too, and I love it, but Windows 11 doesn't play nice with Bluetooth devices, so I had to get the 8bitdo ultimate wifi version. I now keep the Pro 2 for the Steam Deck and Switch.

    • Bluetooth is meant to have more lag than the other kind, radio Ghz or whatever. A lot of devices have the receiver built in these days. I went with bluetooth in the end though, I like the look and feel of the NSO controllers better, lag be damned.

  • Ohhhh I really shouldn’t…

    Ohh…

It's how I feel when I see the Genshin Impact Ultimate controller. Despite having never played the game it looks real pretty.

      • Genshin didn’t really grab me ( thank god for my addiction to gacha micro transactions ) - but yeah that’s a beautiful colourway

      • I remember when the Genshin Impact limited edition was released and people were questiong why they released it when Genshin didn't support controllers at the time of release (I'm not sure if it does now, as I don't play Genshin).

        • Trying to play genshin with a touchscreen? Idk how people do it.

@Jimothy Wongingtons: I don't know how people use controllers to play games! Keyboard and mouse all the way for this old man

            • @aragornelessar: For fps/ twitch reaction gaming yeah I agree. Everything else… it’s not… terrible

              • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Haha when I want to click on a menu, I move my mouse to click on that menu… We're probably not far away from just being able to look at that menu and pressing a controller button though aye?

        • Still doesn't support android controllers. Ridiculous

    • I did it. >.<

  • Reading some comments about terrible latency with this version (even on wired, which is confusing to me!). Anyone done more in-depth research on it? (I jist did a quick google)

    • I have been told this one is good by OZB people.

  • +3

Warning: make sure you correctly select the Hall Effects (not ALPS) version of the controller on the listing.

  • Anyone know if these work well with Raspberry Pi 400 and RecalBox ?

    • +1

      I don't see why not

I'm building a submarine to visit the Titanic.

    Is this suitable?

    • +1

The track record is good!!! Go for it and board some people you don't like just in case.

    • Just bring a spare and you should be alright. The Logitech controller never failed anyone before.

Fun fact: The USA Navy used Xbox 360 controllers on nuclear powered subs for periscope controllers.

    • +1

Yes. The US navy uses xbox controllers. Just don't use a material that is strong in tension in an environment of several hundred atmospheres.

  • Make sure you buy a Bluetooth adaptor if you don't have one already

    • Or a whole gaming console/PC!

  • Would this be suitable for a Nintendo switch? I know it's compatible according to the post but will it work as seamlessly as the 8BitDo ultimate? (Which I already have)

  • Nice price, Amazon also has this one… not sure if it is exactly the same.

The Aliexpress listing has an option for hall effect joystick, which are much more durable and accurate.

  • The codes have expired, but the price is still $43 usd, so maybe $46usd shipped without coins

    • did those codes just take off a couple of dollars?

      • US$4 coupon + US$2.15 coins

  • I'm really interested to buy one, the price is still better than everywhere else. Is it possible to avoid the 10% tax from Aliexpress please ?
