"PLEASE NOTE THESE GRINDERS CAN ONLY USE X-LOCK CUTTING DISCS & NOT STANDARD CUTTING DISCS"

    Wow, so landfill.

    • Opps will jump in otherwise

    • +3

Serious question, why is this a problem? Looks like theX-Lock disks are $2-5 each?

      • +3

Needless lock in to another ecosystem.

        • +2

Some like they have some advantages

locks accessories securely onto the tool giving a quick and easy way of switching angle grinder accessories with just one click. Thanks to the X-Lock system, blades and discs cannot be incorrectly mounted making them safer and more reliable.

There are also over 40 brands that use X Lock on their tools.

You aren't locked in to Bosch

    • i have an xlock and it’s handy for tooless changes, also have a std grinder if i won’t be needing wheel change, find the clock great when working on ladders or roofs as o don’t need to worry about the tool, xlock isn’t what what you want if you won’t break changing wheels often.

  • Thanks, I have an ex in mind.

    eugh great grinder..but seriously X-Lock only…

I'd be on this like a fat kid at a party, if it just took regular disks

    • You can get an adaptor… I know. But at least it's an option.

  • Am I correct in assuming these are not variable speed?

    • +4

its variable. on or off. hope thats variable enough for you

    • +3

If you turn it in and off really fast you can make it a variable speed

      • Perfect. Thanks. Bought 10.

  • X-locked into buying disks that cost more.

  • Bought a Bosch blue grinder in one of the big Bosch Clearance Box Sales from about 6-7 years ago on here .
Out of about a half dozen corded grinders I do have the little Bosch blue has to be my favourite, compact and easy enough to hang onto under a trailer but not so powerful that you can’t control it working above you .
Before I bought this the Bosch Green was the go to in tight spaces ,
but the little blue just feels like it will last a lifetime or three .

  • +2

But this one is x lock, each disc will cost around 3 times more.

    • +1

1.5 x if you buy in packs of 10, problem is availability, bunnings used to stock 10 packs, now it’s just total tools , bunny’s sells singe discs now

  • You don’t have to buy this ,
but if you see any normal ones about 4” 750W grab it .

  • +2

    That's a cheap bike

As a counter to all the X-lock hate, I have a makita with the x-lock and I think it's a great system.

Changing the blade without tools is a time saver.

You can buy a 10 pack of metal cutting discs for $23.79 off Amazon, which seems pretty reasonable to me.

    • +1

Yeah look price vs convenience is always the trade off. The system is great and works well. But $24 for a 10 pack of discs is pretty steep in comparison to regular options. But again, that's the price for convenience.

Personally I never use a lock on my grinders and just untighten them by hand so it's really not a big deal to throw a new disc on. But i'll admit, strill not as fast as the x-lock system so swings and round abouts. Basically, buy what works for you imo.

    • I worked in construction for a while, even full time of metal framing, you barely use 4-5 disc per day, save 10 seconds each disc, that 50 seconds per day. The cost? $10 more on disc. That is $2 per 10 seconds.

      • problem for me is finding the tool …. like 10mm sockets, never find one when needed.

  • +1

these handles are too thick, i find the thinner handles to be more comfortable.

    • Not rising to the bait of the too obvious joke there.

  • Sold out now
