Digital Watch with Per Day Alarms

tldr: looking for a wrist watch that allows an alarm for 2pm on Tuesdays.

My 10yo is in the market for a new watch. He previously had a fitbit Ace which recently got run over. He wasn't a big user of the steps functionality and we want it more for the time/alarms functionality. For example, we want an alarm to remind him to go to piano lessons at 1:30pm on a Tuesday. We want an alarm to remind him to leave the library for pickup at 5:30pm on a Thursday.

I liked the idea of an old-school casio as I thought it would have everything we needed with similar price, better battery, more robust, etc. My reading though indicates that most of these watches only have 'each day', 'each weekday', 'each weekend' alarms, and none seem to allow you to set the alarm for a Tuesday. This was…unexpected and I was hoping to get some feedback if this was accurate or I am misunderstanding somehow. If it is accurate, does anyone know a watch that does provide this functionality?

Cheers.

The default alarm app in the Apple Watch will let you repeat it at certain days. Can also set a repeating event in your calendar and have it alert you at the time of the event.

  • Does he carry a phone already?

    • No phone. That would have been the easy option though.

  • I am fairly sure the Garmin Vivofit Jr 2 allows this (including naming the alarm), through use of the app.

    • Yeah i assume so. Same with fitbit. I was just after something a bit more mature looking than the vivofit jr.

You'll want a Casio that supports multi function alarm.

Take a look at the F201WA or the B640.

The multi-function alarm lets you specify the hour, minutes, month, and day for the alarm.

    • Do you know if that's day of month or day of week? All my rsch indicated it was day of month. No way to make it ring on a Tuesday.

How about a Xiaomi Smart Band? It's cheap, and does exactly what you want.

    • Haven't even heard of it. I'll check it out, 👍

      • I have the smart band 8 active, can confirm it does exactly what you want (set alarms via the device itself or the app).

        Was only $30-40 for memory.

    • Yep, my Mi Band 6 has alarms that can be set per day on the watch it's self. Mi Band 4 needs the app to do so. The alarm uses vibration which isn't very strong so it likely won't wake you up. My Mi Band 6 cost around $60 four years ago.

Digital Watch with Per Day Alarms

    Apple watch does alarms.

Yeah… I'm not really after an apple watch for my 10yo 😁

  • Amazfit bip series would allow you to do that, theyre also cheap and battery lasts about a month. Mi bands are a cheaper alternative and work similarly. You need to connect it to a phone to setup the alarms though, but after setup, you can use the alarms independently.

Thanks for the tips all. I just purchased the mi band 8. Looks like it will be fun to play with.

    • As a fellow parent-with-10-year-old-who-does-music-lessons-in-school-but-they-aren't-in-charge-of-sending-them-at-the-right-time-for-some-reason I might give this one a shot as well. Cheers for asking this

  • Bumping this thread because it's relevent, any smart watches that have apps that let you set a timer/stopwatch for more them just the 90 minutes on my fitbit?

I'd like a visual representation of the hours left on my 'work day'.

And optionally to be able to set up a stopwatch to start, stop, but then store a record of that instance. Really, it's for task tracking, so if there's a full on app that let's you assign what you did (a graphic indicating 'housework' or a word 'chores' even) during that instance, and possibly communicates with an app on your phone, that would be amazing but likely does not exist.

    • There is an android app that does this called Remit. Here's a video of it in action.
