is it a visa or mastercard prepaid card only to be used in woolies?

Could I buy those gifts by ShopBack Supermarket Visa gift cards.? Waiting for clarification. Thanks

  • Are Café Choice and Restaurants Choice work in the same way? Any differences ?

    • exactly the same but different name

      • They used to have different MCC codes so they are both identical now in every way?

  • great

  • Is there a variable eftpos card? It would be much beneficial

    • I have only ever seen $50 and $100 denominations sold at third-party retailers (e.g. Woolworths, Coles).

It looks like the only way to purchase a variable load denomination is directly from Westfield.

  • I know it's not possible to split a payment between two credit cards at Coles self check out machines, but is it the same at Woolworths?

Edit: Found answer in wiki. You can split at Woolworths, in case anyone is wondering.

  • This is the way to get Ikea GCs since the ultimate GCs are close to none existence on the shelves.

    • A ton of them at WW locations on the Gold Coast.

      • Not when they are on discount or with bonus points here.

  • Can we use the Vanilla gift Mastercards or the SB Supermarket card to buy the Cafe Choice card?
It looks possible based on previous discussion but hoping for some clarity

    • +1

ShopBack Supermarket / Category Choice Groceries @ ColesWorth - yes :)

    • Vanilla Mastercards -yes

  • These westfield eftpos ones can be added to Paypal if anyone knows?

    • +1

You can’t, they are eftpos card

      • thanks

  • -1

when you compare this week Vanilla card deal (5000 points for $500+$7.95 Activation fee), is this westfield card any better? (10000 points for $500 + $29.75 Activation fee)?

  • Cafe card is a great deal IMO - can be added to Google wallet, loaded up to $500, and used in restaurants as well as other non-cafe merchants. Means no constant managing of balances like with $100 restaurant cards, and the 10 Qantas points per dollar means more low cost progess toward Points Club Plus.

    • -1

Yes, you've hidden some @ your local store.

  • +1

For anyone who is interested, I successfully bought the $500 cafe choice card using a $500 Vanilla Mastercard Gift Card from this deal. Essentially got 15000 EDR points ($75-worth) + $500 cafe choice card for $507.95 per card
(13.2% extra value on $507.95 spend, or alternatively, 11.66% discount on $575 of value if you count EDR points as cash-equivalent)

    • +1

you didn't want to save more via:

      • Does anyone know what the restrictions are for adding new payment cards on Shopback? I added a prepaid Visa about a week ago and I can't add one today.

      • Oh, I didn't think of that! Another layer of card inception. Thanks!

      • Are the category choice cards typically on discount?

  • Awesome so where’s the party at? Lol

  • +1

Tried to use the Westfiled eftpos card at post office but was declined

    • Yeah I read somewhere that it is no longer accepted by AusPost.

      • +2

OP posted a picture in this deal a few days ago of two different signs:

        1. A sign at Australia Post, saying that Westfield eftpos gift cards would no longer be accepted as a payment method at Australia Post as of late January 2024.

        2. A sign presumably at a Westfield shopping centre concierge desk, saying that Westfield eftpos gift cards were no longer redeemable at Australia Post.

I still have a link to the photo, but it has been deleted from OzBargain, so I cannot show you the signs!

I am hardly surprised by Westfield blocking Australia Post, because the Westfield terms and conditions have said for at least a couple of years that you cannot use their gift cards for bill payments (and that is something you obviously can do at Australia Post).

  • cannot find Café Choice in nearby woolies

    • Same - only 4 stacks of restaurant choice

      • Hopefully there are some in my local wws

      • Can you share which loc you mention dont have so I can avoid? I’m in Perth also and just checked Coolbellup, they had none. Didn’t think it’d be hard to find 😭 lets work together to figure out which store has it

      • +1

Reporting in: Forest Lakes (Thornlie) has up to 20x Variable Cafe Choice as of 8:23PM WAST

    • Plenty on the shelves here

      • where?

  • I am wondering how you guys use the little balance left on the gift cards like cafe choice gc? it's a headache for me.

    • +1

I have a cafe I'm friendly with, and when it's not busy I ask them nicely to split and I pay the rest in cash so they don't incur extra fees.

    • +2

Have more than $10 balance left, and topup your subway account.

      • Can you top up your subway account in the store with a physical gift card?

        • Not sure
topup via phone app is easy, you can enter any amount more than $10

          • @aoliren: Can you use any amount from your subcard and use rest from your physical gift card?

    • There were some suggestions mentioned here:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/850872

  • Just used 6 ShopBack Supermarket gift cards to buy cafe choice in 1 transaction without problem.

  • -4

Is cafe Choice gift card still on sales at local Woolworths?I cant see any advertisment at my local store today.

Also, I can buy Supermarket gift card from Shopback and use it to buy gift card at Woolworths?

  • -2

Does having Everyday Extra give you 2x points on top of the 20x points?

    • +1

Nope, everyday extra benefits excludes gift cards.

  • Is the limit per card type or across different card types? For example would I get points for getting 5 Westfield cards and 5 Cafe Choice cards in 1 day? Or am I only allowed 5 in total (e.g. 3 Westfield and 2 Cafe Choice maximum per day)?

    • +1

5 Cafe Choice are up to $2500 value. Are you sure?

      • +1

Not so much that but more like 5 Westfield, 1 Cafe Choice is what I'm interested in

  • Well there were plenty of each type at my local but when the checkout scanned them through, the Cafe Choice came up as 1c and they couldn't load them for me. Will have to try again tomorrow

    • Was this at a Woolworths supermarket or Woolworths Metro?

      • A supermarket that got converted into a Metro - but it had all the placards and advertising up so seems strange

        • +2

I had a feeling it was a Woolworths Metro.

There is a bug in the Woolworths Metro checkout system where you scan the activation barcode of a variable load gift card, but instead, the checkout will automatically choose $0.01 as the load amount.

This bug only affects some variable load gift cards at Woolworths Metro, but if this bug happens, you cannot choose any other amount to load. I have tried to get Woolworths Metro staff on multiple occasions to change the load amount from $0.01 to something else, but it is not possible.

Woolworths supermarket and Woolworths Metro checkout systems are programmed differently, so you will not see this bug at a Woolworths supermarket.

This is a bug that will need to fixed in the Woolworths Metro checkout system for the Café Choice gift cards, so until it gets fixed, the easiest thing to do is to go to a Woolworths supermarket and purchase a Café Choice gift card there (or purchase a fixed denomination Café Choice gift card at Woolworths Metro).

  • None of the Cafe Choice cards at Majura or Gungahlin (ACT)
    Stacks of all the others

    • Same with Belconnen

  • Hi team
I’m after IKEA gift cards. Do they normally replenish them each day or will they all be sold out?

10% off is amazing plus induction cooktops are also on sale in iKEA atm. Great value.

    • It depends on how the store in question manages gift cards.

Sometimes, Woolworths stores have a visitor (usually someone contracted by a gift card distributor) drop off fresh stock of gift cards. Other times, Woolworths stores have the gift cards sent to them directly from the gift card distributor.

Sometimes, Woolworths stores have a visitor restock the gift card display for them (and it may or may not be during the same visit when a visitor drops off fresh stock). Other times, store staff themselves restock the gift card display.

In terms of when the gift card shelves are restocked, it really depends on how frequently the visitor visits (or how frequently the store staff can be bothered to restock the gift card display themselves). I find the gift card displays at most of the stores I frequent are not regularly restocked, so if you are particularly eager, you can always ask staff (particularly at the service desk) whether there is additional stock in storage somewhere. Most stores should have extra gift cards (and SIM cards and other random merchandise) stored in boxes behind the main gift card display, but the degree to which staff will be interested in helping you go through this will vary wildly…

    • Plenty of them on the shelves last night. I got a few for the coming 80% sale.

      • Edit: Am I remember wrong or is there a coming big sale at Ikea? I cannot find it anywhere. Was reading somewhere from memory.

        • +1

          Were you reading it here?

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Yes, exactly. Was looking and trying to get prepared for it and couldn't. You saved me, cheers!

  • Anyone know if you can use Westfield Giftcard at Vicroads to pay rego or licence renewal fee?

  • i tried using the westfield giftcard at woolies today to buy bread and milk but got declined.

    • Strange. I was able to use the Westfield gift card to buy the Cafe Choice card at Woolworth’s. It takes about an hour for the Westfield card to start working in my experience.

      • +1

oh okay, I tried to use it after 10minutes. I'll try it again tomorrow. Thanks

  • I figured out where all the Cafe Choice cards are on the Gold Coast: Woolworth’s Helensvsle. https://imgur.com/a/mk2cLlR
