laughs at daily recharge - no thx

    • +7

      Daily? That’s lucky.
      I charge twice a day.
Watch battery health is at %84 less than two years in. I am generally careful not to leave it on charger overnight or deplete it less than 40%.
I guess it’s the best smartwatch in the ecosystem and my budget so 🤷‍♂️

      • I guess it depends on your usage, do you use AOD?

        • +1

          Yes ofc
How would I tell the world I have a series 5 or newer watch 😂
But seriously I tried to turn it off and couldn’t wait the split second it takes to turn on combined with an elaborate wrist flick.

@HunterBargainHunter: What model is it? I’ve got a series 5 and the battery is definitely in the way out. I think that model might’ve had issues.

            • @try2bhelpful: S7 45mm.
I don’t always use its usb-c charger, sometimes use an older Apple Watch S3 usb-A charger I wonder if that’s somehow related

              • @HunterBargainHunter: There are websites that give you hints on how to preserve battery power. I would be tempted to take it to the Genius bar and see if you can get them to help. They can only say "no". They also might be able to give you hints.

              • +1

@HunterBargainHunter: agree, i have the same watch and the battery life is abysmal

                • @hsp: I read somewhere one of the oldest models they sell I think the series SE? is listed now by Apple with 18 hours of battery life out of the box.
probably due to all the updates they are loading into the fast new models the old watches end up consuming more power even when missing a few features of the latest models. I mean long update support is good, but maybe there are pushing it a bit too far?

oh and battery wear is a thing.\
I think these days you really need to consider battery wear in a watch that claims 24 hours battery out of the box such as with Google Wear OS. 1 year of heavy use or maybe 2 years of regular use and that 1 day battery life will become less than a day, making it a struggle to keep it working without charging it twice a day.
if you get a watch with a few days claimed battery life though you only lose a day or two instead and you will still get through a day without power issues.

I know Wear OS and Apple watches have the most features with their companion phones but honestly I don't understand why these small extra features use so much energy that battery life becomes a claimed 24 hours. the thickness of the watch is quite thick so there is definitely a decent sized battery inside, maybe they are making the chips too powerful so they use too much energy.

Does it work with Android phones?

    • +4

      Apple has left the chat

    • +1

      Short answer: no

Long answer: with multiple sims, a cellular apple watch and a secondary old apple phone some people have found a workaround

    • +1

I wish it did - I would buy one tomorrow.

Only 40mm version? Not sure if it fits my brother’s hand. Any advice? Thanks.

    • +8

send a photo of your brothers hand and we will debate it

doesn't have any relevance to how it'll fit of course…for that you'd need to measure his wrist

      • Thanks, mate! I estimated his wrist would be around 240-260 mm. This is too small for him.

        • +1

I estimated his wrist would be around 240-260 mm

is your brother rather overweight? That is one hell of a big wrist!!

Measure your own and then judge accordingly

    • +1

Yes, you read that right - 40mm version.

Measure your brother's hand, see if it fits both Apple's S/M and M/L bands, as this watch comes with a band of unspecified size.

You can always buy new band and replace it.

      • Thanks, mate! His wrist is around 240-260mm. I think this version is too small for him.

        • +2

Band Size. S/MBand fits 140- to 190-millimetre wrists. M/LBand fits 160- to 210-millimetre wrists. Extra LargeBand fits 195- to 245- millimetre wrists.

Seems there's no standard version for him, so you'll need to buy an extra band anyway.

But yeah, you may also consider a bigger watch itself.

  • +2

Thanks, I bought it for my wife even though we don't need the cellular version. Great deal.

  • +1

    But it’s red

    • must be faster!

      • and hotter

  • are these really new? debating whether i should get this - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/849868 - as it's cheaper than a series 9 gps. Just dont want to receive a refurb.

  • +1

    OOS :)

    • +4

      Phew

  • Bought a brand new red S6 GPS + Cellular from David Jones for $320. Bloody thing was DOA and both DJ and Apple were very unhelpful. Got a refund in the end.

  • Nice price and colour, but OOS…

    • +1

      Back in stock !

  • It is OOS now - thanks OP, great deal for eBay plus

  • Relisted at higher price without coupon… dodgy

  • missed it

  • 44mm WiFi still available

    • Do you have the link? thanks

  • Received second hand version by their mistake, now I spent half day to fix their “mistake”…

  • They have not even fulfilled my order yet. Should have gone with Apple refurbished itself.

    • Order placed on 7-June-2024 and no tracking nothing yet.

      • I have to cancel my order as they said they dont have the advertised product.
        Wont go with them again.

  • They are an absolute bunch of low life liars. Came up with a fairytale that all of them are faulty. Would not refund, so I had to file an eBay case. Then they relisted THE SAME product at a higher price
