    • Hello the free shipping takes about 7 to 10 days all things going well

I thought Xiaomi phone is affordable

    • +1

      Was Xiaomi, now gouge-me.

    • +1

They have often had some expensive options.

I have used their phone for years but i dont think i would at over $1000. (for warranty concerns)

4 different focal length cameras, 3 with OIS is pretty impressive though.

    • +1

The main Xiaomi series is more high end now. Budget phones are in the Redmi and POCO sub brands.

      • This.
They have been trying so hard to reposition the brand image to be a high end brand and now even sell premium cars.
Shifting brand image is deadly difficult though.

    • If that’s your concern, then good luck with Samsung as it explodes instead of fries. You are not just loosing photos but also literally a leg or an arm. Just Google Note 7 explosion.

BTW I sick of people judging MIC quality when they only buy the cheapest stuff then whining not as good top pricy products from other countries. Come on, you know that’s stupid and not relevant.

      • Note 7 was a headline news material and one off in the hole samsung lineup. Lookup Poco phone and everyone commenting on planned obsolescence after 12 months like clockwork. Number of factors, poor heat control, charging fails, etc. All due to inferior components used.
I stand by my comment. In 20 years i havent had a single Samsung phone fail on me hence my allegiance. One time i thought giving China so called high end phone a try it crapped out, guess what roughly after 12 months.
Again not a reflection on Xiaomi, but as i said not worth the risk especially at this pricepoint. Neg all you want. Cyas.

I really love the way people neg you for having an opinion based on personal experience.

      Have an upvote!

One of millions fries = never any Chinese phone brand.
Hundreds of Samsung phones exploded = still going back.

        Huh?🤷🏻

Experience sharing is great, opinion with false generalisation is no good.

      • +4

While i didn't neg them; really, saying you will never buy another Chinese phone because of one fault and claims they use 'cheap components' is a bit rich.

We have had 6 different redmi/poco phones. All worked for ages (most still do), and any problems were absolutely not warranty. Redmi note 8 even got ran over by a car. Still worked, just replaced a broken screen myself. Wife smash the note 9 twice while running, cant blame the phone for that. Again, still worked, just swapped the screen.

Have owned 2 Samsung phones. One, a flagship s20+ has a stupid pink line down the screen. Went to bed with a working fine phone, woke up with a pink line. Thousands of others all report the same problem with the s20 and some of the newer s series.

Should i say to people never to buy a Samsung phone? Not really. All phone brands have the occasional fault.

Thanks mate. People are all touchy feely now days. Probably gen Zs.

        • +2

LMAO, you really need some education about probability and generalisability.
You see one phone down, then all Chinese brands are off.
You see a couple of people’s comments, then throw onto the whole generation.
Can’t wait to see what’s next

  • +3

What?? Xiaomi at 1.5k? No way..

  • +1

This does not have the 2nd year of warranty under ACL, right? And I don't think it would be better than Samsung/Google/Apple.

  • i am using the 11 ultra for 3.5 years now, and just got updated to HyperOS, the device is like brand new with performance and power, especially with the camera. i've tried Samsung, Iphone, oneplus (before oppo bought it), and pixel. i'd put pixel and xiaomi on top of my list equally, then goes to oneplus due to software, then apple then samsung, samsung give it 2 -3 years and you'll start getting false updates and your device will fall down. (this is just my experience, not saying any bad about any device).

so based on my experience, for anyone interested and hesitant, give it a try and you'll LOVE IT.

  • Does Android auto work on these devices?
I understand these are Hong Kong or grey imports

    • +1

hello I ask chatgpt the responce is below

Yes, Android Auto should work on imported mobile phones from brands such as Xiaomi, Nubia, Realme, OnePlus, Redmi, and Vivo in Australia. However, there are a few considerations to keep in mind:

Region Compatibility: Ensure that the phone's firmware supports the region where you intend to use Android Auto. Sometimes, phones are region-locked, which can affect certain features.

Google Services: Make sure that the imported phone has Google Mobile Services (GMS) installed. Some imported phones, particularly those from China, might not have GMS by default.

App Availability: Verify that the Android Auto app is available and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store on your device.

Firmware and Software Updates: Keep your phone's software up to date, as updates can improve compatibility and functionality with Android Auto.

Connectivity: Ensure that the phone supports the necessary USB or wireless protocols for Android Auto.

If all these conditions are met, you should be able to use Android Auto on your imported mobile phone in Australia.

  • I also ask what if the phone has GMS but still will not connect

If you have a Vivo phone with Google Mobile Services (GMS) and Android Auto is not connecting, several potential issues could be causing this problem. Here are some common troubleshooting steps:

    1. USB Cable Quality
Problem: Low-quality or faulty USB cables can prevent a stable connection.
Solution: Use a high-quality, data-capable USB cable. Avoid using charging-only cables.
    2. USB Debugging
Problem: USB debugging mode can interfere with Android Auto.
Solution: Ensure USB debugging is turned off in your phone's developer options.
    3. App Permissions
Problem: Android Auto requires several permissions to function correctly.
Solution: Check and grant all necessary permissions for Android Auto in your phone's settings.
    4. Android Auto App Version
Problem: Using an outdated version of Android Auto can cause compatibility issues.
Solution: Update the Android Auto app to the latest version from the Google Play Store.
    5. Phone Software
Problem: Your phone's operating system might have a bug or be incompatible.
Solution: Ensure your phone's firmware and operating system are up to date.
    6. Car Head Unit Compatibility
Problem: The car's head unit might need a software update.
Solution: Check if there is a firmware update available for your car's infotainment system.
    7. Bluetooth Connectivity
Problem: Issues with Bluetooth can sometimes affect Android Auto.
Solution: Try turning off Bluetooth and reconnecting your phone using a USB cable.
    8. Background Apps
Problem: Other apps running in the background might interfere with Android Auto.
Solution: Close all other apps and restart your phone before connecting.
    9. Resetting Android Auto
Problem: Configuration or cached data issues can cause problems.
Solution: Clear the cache and storage of the Android Auto app and reconfigure it.
    10. Car Compatibility
Problem: Not all car models and infotainment systems are fully compatible with all phone models.
Solution: Check the car manufacturer's website for a list of supported devices or any known issues with Android Auto.
    11. Google Account Issues
Problem: Issues with your Google account could affect app functionality.
Solution: Sign out and back into your Google account on your phone.
      Steps to Troubleshoot:
Check the USB Cable: Use a high-quality, data-capable USB cable.
Disable USB Debugging: Go to Developer Options and ensure USB debugging is off.
Update the Android Auto App: Make sure you have the latest version from the Play Store.
Grant Permissions: Go to Settings > Apps > Android Auto > Permissions and ensure all necessary permissions are granted.
Restart Devices: Restart both your phone and the car’s infotainment system.
Check Car Settings: Ensure your car's infotainment system is updated to the latest firmware version.
By systematically going through these steps, you can identify and resolve the issue preventing Android Auto from connecting on your Vivo phone.

    • Pay should work as this is the Hong Kong version and provided the bootloader is locked
