ikoala is dodgy… I learned the hard way:

    From Paypal:

We completed our investigation for the following transaction:
    Case ID: PP-00-23-13-40-14-1-12
    Transaction Date: 13 Oct 2012
    Seller's Email: [email protected]
    Seller's Name: ikoala.com.au pty ltd

Unfortunately, we are refusing your claim because your purchase was for a virtual, digital or intangible item, which is not covered under PayPal Buyer Protection. We only cover claims involving physical items that can be shipped and tracked.

Easy way to rip people off I guess.

    • What was the item and how much did you get taken for?

      • It was a voucher for some dodgy cheap cufflinks from some swallowfashion site that never worked. The site was down for a few days, then when it came up the voucher code never worked.

It's not about the amount I lost as it was only $2, its the fact that these dodgy mongrels bring ozbargain & online shopping a bad reputation. If they rip off 100 people, thats a measly quick $200 for them but 100 bad points against online trading.

@Sam/Samuel/Hussein/Mehanna watever name you want to hide behind at ikoala - Go get a real job & stop ripping ozbargain fans off.

It's good to know the details, will help many who haven't had such misfortune avoid doing so.

Glad that it was only $2 but they really should make good when this kind of thing happens, regardless of the amount involved.

This kind of thing always catches up and can only serve as a warning for others.

          Hi Snoo/Boo/Hoo

you CAN still redeem your voucher with the merchant, Swallow Formal, a business located in Queensland with 3 Stores in Brisbane CBD.

If you cannot redeem (they fixed their website some time ago) then we are HAPPY to give you a refund.

It looks like you DONT know what to do, and so now you are calling a legitimate business a rip off because you weren't capable of following instructions or didnt have any capacity for some patience while the website error was being fixed and now just blame the world for ripping you off right?

Technical glitches happen in the online world, so the merchants website was down - this was fixed by the merchant and customers have been able to redeem. They have served thousands of HAPPY customers - but's not everyone by the look of it.

AGAIN, we are HAPPY TO REFUND YOU if that is what you are seeking - we have always been willing to assist customers.

Snoo/Boo/Hoo or whatever your name is - stop whining and actually make an attempt to email us so that we can assist you (as requested before) - which we are happy to do.

Swallow Formal is not a rip-off business and ikoala has not had any problems with customers that have used their service through a deal we presented.

          Nice, how un-Australian of you.

I did email & ask you for a refund, but you ignored that option & suggested the site would be up again soon.

Even though the swallowfashion has a coupon option that coupon doesn't work, you put dodgy looking instructions at the end of a receipt in fine print:

To order, simply follow these 3 steps:

          1. Go to: www.swallowformal.com.au/category.aspx?id=277
          2. Choose a of your favorite cufflinks and email: [email protected]
          3. Provide your contact and shipping details, voucher ID and your a cufflink code

So I did this & the email you supplied [email protected] bounced back:

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

           [email protected]

          Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 Unrouteable address (state 13).

So I did some research & found [email protected] with an extra 'S' at the end of sales didn't bounce, but either way I never received a reply. So I'm assuming your cousin at this other dodgy swallowfashion site is in on this scam.

But its ok, I no longer want to do business with you or your dodgy cousin so keep the $2 & put it towards a new domain name in some other part of the world to rip people off with. You're too arrogant with the way you handle people & obviously very unwelcome here.

        • "Snoo/Boo/Hoo or whatever your name is - stop whining"

Love it! This person cannot possibly be trying to promote ikoala right?

I'm negging this deal because Snoo has very carefully documented their issue with the company, and the rep hasn't explained why this happened.

YOUR VOUCHER IS STILL VALID AND REDEEMABLE. PLEASE READ IT, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON IT.

      • +4

Using capslock doesn't make me, or anyone want to do business with you.

  • +5

Wow they certainly do not speak to their customers nicely. I'm not tempted to buy that's for sure. I think the rep and the company should speak nicer to people, a bit of old fashioned service and be helpful. You will not win business otherwise.

  • +5

Totally agree. I was going to speak up about a positive experience. After looking at the above comments from the Rep, I'm going to think twice before buying from them again.

  • Holy cr@p, the attitude of this rep is absolutely astounding. Talk about making a bad situation worse, no real attempt to diffuse or deal with it, just abuse on top of abuse.

Very, very poor form, bad enough to even put off a previously happy customer from saying something positive. Good work.

I know I've already said it but this should now definitely serve as a warning to others.

    • How are we to know that all you have done isn't to shut down one account and open another to make it appear that you're doing something about an utterly atrocious rep?

A new apologetic post from a brand new account confirms nothing, if anything it just adds suspicion.

I've asked the mods to confirm this isn't the case.

      • The story is true as confirmed earlier this morning but as you point out it could be what you suggested.

        • Ahh okay, I take it then that this new account is effectively a ghost of the old account, either from the exact same ip or at a minimum, from within the same range or domain.

I'd suspect that the browser type and version used for the two accounts would also be remarkably similar as well, happy to be told I'm wrong though!

    • Just for the record: ikoala.com.au pty ltd just sent you a full refund of $2.00 AUD for your purchase.

  • Boring day, glad there was something to laugh at. Samuel80 that is

  • unfortunately I bought a deal from ikoala before I saw these comments and review, hope my stuff will be delivered to me without any problem.

    • Hi Saxphon, there will be absolutely no problems at all. If you would like to track or enquire about your order, please do feel free to contact our team (details above) and they will be more than happy to assist you further. Have a wonderful day.

        Hey Rep,

        Was just interested whether by:
"that the rep account has been disabled and is no longer in association with ikOala."

Do you mean that the same rep has simply opened a new account?

I'm assuming that the account 'ikoala Australia' was opened and is being operated by the same person who ran the 'SAMUEL80' account…

      • Yea, called the number, been put on hold till been cut off. and used online chat been told need to wait 5-7weeks from the time I placed order. Why not told me when I placed the order? only said 4 weeks when the deals end but the deal seems never gonna be end, everyday the deal still on and tell people it will end in one day or what so ever. sick of this. Does this mean I never gonna receive the stuff I paid for?
