I've got quite a few Sonos speakers in the house, but I reckon there a much better options out there for headphones, especially in this price range. Also, I find it hard to trust them after they tried to pull support for their early generation speakers.

    • Same with me .. I have one from pretty much one from each generation .. but giving up support for older generations seems unfair.. Time to rethink..

No lossless wifi streaming and no speaker groups or handoff (aside from one soundbar) for the headphones is a bewildering oversight honestly considering their whole sales pitch is ecosystem

      • When I watched MKBHD's review I was thinking to myself, "Why would I actually want handoff to my headset?"

But yeah, since that is their entire thing, they should, right?

Supposedly you can handoff between a soundbar and the headphones - that actually is something I would use.

I also think there are better options for headphones, though…

        • Yeah it’d be unusual that I’d want to do it but it seems like something that you would build in regardless.

          A couple of use cases:

          • you have a record player connected to a Sonos system. You can’t listen to the record on your headphones

          • I am listening to streaming music on my living room system and need to go hang out the washing; I throw my headphones on for ten minutes before coming back inside

  • Anyone have any thoughts on how these compare with the Sony's flagship?

WHAT HI*FI? likes the Sonos, until they compare them to the Sony WH-1000XM5

      • Get the budget B&W PX7SE for this kind of money.

  • If you can find a friend, buying the pair and UNiDAYS 15% off is cheaper :)

Is it cheaper after 10% off gift cards though?

    • The discounts don’t stack.

  • Whats the easiest membership that I can pay for that gives access to these?

$450usd preorder on Bestbuys, which is $675aud. Priced well in comparison to the US. Still not for me though. Quite happy with the XM3 still.

  • Showing $606.98 for me with access via Westpac Rewards.
At $580ish on launch day, I don't think it'll be terribly long before they're sub $500

  • I’ll wait when they’re $147. Til then, I’ll stick to my bose sc.

    • Bose SC are solid, I would have bought them if my company didn't pull off a staff offer and got us these Sonos Ace for only a little more than $147. As an Ozbargainer I really can't complain for that price :)

Awaiting arrival but haven't gotten a new set of headphones in 6-7 years, should be interesting.

Had them for half a day. Very impressed so far. The sound is what you’d expect but the noise cancelling is next level (comparing to the Bose Ultra which is gold standard). Build quality is miles above that of the Sony and Bose (I’ve owned both) in my opinion.
Hand off from Sonos Arc works well.
For my use case, very happy with them.

  • Showing as standard retail rate (699) via Origin Rewards->JB Hi-Fi Business

    • yup, party is over. $699 for me too.

  • Picked one up today, reckon I might’ve gotten a dud, seems to be something wrong with the usb-c port. Can’t charge at all (plugged into a laptop and a usb-c brick with the provided cable and a spare one I had). Also makes a horrendous static screeching noise when either the usb-c cable or the usb-c to aux is plugged in and can’t hear anything other than static screeching when trying to play music wired.

    • Yeah, pretty sure none of those are advertised features…
