Ordered one last time it was on sale with the ebay code. the box arrived in perfect condition-actually better than most of the new stuff i have bought over the years. only 2 small tiny dents from the 2 sides of the boxes i think its from the straps to tie few TVs together. very happy with the TV so far.

what is the difference?
X95 series has mini LED, X-Anti Reflection, X-Wide Angle tech
I have x95k and wide angle layer is not selling point. Scatters any sort of overhead lights or lights off to the side all across the screen in a rainbow pattern, not great
I ordered a X95L 75" and a X90L 85" both arrived with a perfect box.
Do you mean X95K? i don't think they sell X95L "officially" in Aus.
My bad, it is X95K Mini LED
How do you find both? Is X95K way ahead of X90L?
@Polaremail: It's definitely an improvement overall, though not by a huge margin. The screen is brighter, and the screen finish does a great job of reducing reflections ( a little bit better than the X90L (Both TVs are located in well-lit rooms)
Thats because "box damaged" is marketing speak to not upset Sonys retail partners by undercutting them.
Or to get tax benefits, just as some car manufacturers sell new car as demo.
how much you paid for both and was it part of any deal?
You were too lucky mate. I bought a box damaged 55A80J last year and got a damaged box together with a damaged screen TV. It spent me like one month to get a replacement from Sony ebay store. Sony communicated very unsmoothly with its carrier DHL. I even played a messenger role between them. Finally the replacement is a box damaged but unused TV though. I am satisfied with the TV but cannot blame more to the awful shopping experience!
Can you choose a specific delivery date say 3-4 weeks in the future with ebay purchases like these?
I wanna buy now but can't have it delivered until early JulyOnce your order is allocated, usually 3-4 days later, they they will send you a DHL link to choose a date for the following week delivery, I remember I chose two weeks later, not sure about 4 weeks. I am in Sydney, my order were from their warehouse in the regional NSW.
i got it through DHL as well. They gave me a call and sceduled a date. i asked for a week later.
Does Sony hire particularly clumsy warehouse staff? Why are there always so many Sony TV's with their boxes damaged?
Ah! I see. Thanks for the clarification.
Read below and don’t believe what people say.
While my experience may be in the minority it was so bad had to share,
Ordered tv delivery eta 4 days Sydney to Canberra Incorrect tracking number provided. Follow up message sent to Sony eBay at the 7 day mark they changed the tracking number and advised Sydney to Canberra takes a while. Give them benefit of the doubt contact them again at 11 days as no tracking update. Same response. Contact them at 15days sales response so open an eBay no received claim and within 20 minutes got a call from the Carrier scheduling delivery for day 16
Tv arrives day 16 external box no major issues however tv screen smashed
Message don’t eBay prompt service return generated and tv picked up following day
3 messages back and forth over the next 10 days stating they need warehouse to review prior to replacement being sent.
Replacement sent day 27 and this time fast shipping recieved day 29. Tv arrived smashed again this time box also in fine condition but missing straps potentially a replaced tv
Contacted them day 30 return organised with refund promised
Spoke to eBay day 30 as well and they advised open eBay claim as well to be covered
Sony instantly messages me to close the claim. Advise no not until refunded
Tv picked up day 33 delivered day 34 Sony stating there warehouse needs to inspect. Day 46 get money back after eBay stepped in.
Apologies for the poor formatting wrote this on my phone
Positive thing out of this is, you got your money back!
Yep, don’t believe the “Sony are doing it so they don’t upset the retailers” rubbish, these Box Damaged TVs aren’t all just Box Damaged. I’ve read countless incidents such as this. You’re rolling the dice on these deals.
Or they could have been damaged in transit. There is no way to be short, even if box is flawless and showing no signs of being rough-handled or dropped. This happening twice was unfortunate.
How can they be damaged in transit if there’s no signs of damage on the box? Concealed damage means it was packed that way. I used to work for a major TV manufacturer and know how they operate.
@Maths Debater: On the top of my head
- Improperly positioned internal packaging inside the box.
- Shock from box falling flat on its side. Shock could have reverberated throughout the box
- Sudden changes in pressure during transit
- Continuous vibrations during transit
- improper stacking, where heavier stuff was placed on the box, especially if tv was incorrectly placed flat instead of upright, and a heavier item placed on top of it
- gremlins hitched a ride and seeing the opportunity for some chaos, decided to have a bit of fun
Any of these would show minimal if any damage to the outside of the box IMO (minus the last example). I have seen enough posts about smashed tv screens on r/television to confidently say this is not an isolated issue related to Sony "box damaged" stock.
Anyone got it deliver yet?
Got my TV delivered today. Box and TV both in perfect brand new condition.
X95l and we’re talking
