Lol. That will make me sleep better

      • CRNs that are credit or debit card numbers are ineligible for entry.

  • can i use this to pay council rate?

    • +1

Likely yes. It may depend on your council, but a lot of people did that already.

      • Thank you

  • Can you buy these with Coles prepaid MasterCard or Vanilla Visa?

    • I don't think so, but you can check this FAQ for correct answer

    • +2

No Coles Mastercard gift card nor shop back activ visa gift card. Tried both today.

  • I have $800 worth of Special Woolworths cards, does anyone know if these will work to buy these variable load Vanilla Mastercards? $14.90 for 5000 Qantas points is not too bad anyways and can be repeated seven time if you're lucky.

    • just wondering whether you were able to use the special Woolworths cards to purchase the vanillia mastercards.

    • Can confirm that it works

  • If I bought 2 x$500 GC, the total price would be $1015.90….would there be any issue with this ? Eg needing manager or the like approval? Would it be better to go a manned checkout counter than self checkout?

    • It does require manager approval if you go to a manned checkout and purchase $1000 of gift cards. I'm not sure if it really matters though, some WW stores I've been to (especially if they have older clientele) set limits as low as $200 before manager approval is required. If they are happy calling for managers all day, so be it

      • I just tried to buy 2x 500, and got told they had a 500 limit, so I only bought 1.

  • +1

Needed manual approval when I entered 500 for the first gift card, then again for the second gift card, then again for payment over 1000. It's worse than Coles.

    • Yep, this is why I don't bother with $1000. I'm okay with $500 over a few days. If I get the deal every day I am going to struggle to spend the $3000 in gift cards let alone $6000.

      • I've taken the same approach in one or two past promos however:

You still hit dumb approval limits (eg I'll get pinged for $500 at my local store as well, they told me previously their threshold is $200 due to the elderly getting scammed). The benefit of going $500 for me is I only hit 1 limit and not 2 so it's less of a song and dance.

People go ham on the first couple of days and if they don't restock like the last luxury EFTPOS deal theres no stock after day 2, so you're highly unlikely to get the full $3.5k under this approach

  • +1

What sort of stock levels are people seeing? There were 3 left at my local at 7.30am.

    • My local was fully stocked. I've bought 2 every day so far and there was still stock left

  • +2

My local (ACT) had full stock. But needed a billion authorisations to get it across the line. No questions or concerns from the staff, they just pretty much had to stand by me for the whole transaction: for gift card being over 500, then for putting another gift card on, then for giftcard 2 being over 500, then for total being over 1000, then for activation of gift cards

Added the two cards to paypal and bought discounted woolworths gift cards (via student edge) no problem.

    • Yeah I don't take these through self check outs, manned have authorisations too but the self check out flow is stupid, the auths are at different times in the process so you need to keep calling staff over.

  • Only blue variable ones are in the promo, white ones arent

  • wondering if someone know this vanilla Mastercard can add into shopback account to pay other gift cards like sb supermarket card?

    • +1

You can do it for a few times before hitting a limit. Then you need to wait at least 2 days before being able to do it again.

      • Thanks for this. noted

  • So i dipped my toe to a $500 one. Paying in counter is easy (dun need a billion auth). Checked balance that $500 is ready to use. Can't add to Google wallet, can't add to Samsung wallet, can't add to ZipPay… If anyone knows how to pay ATO in credit please let me know. Seems I can't pay if balance is zero. Thanks.

    • can you add it to paypal?

      • +1

Dun have PayPal so dunno. But confirmed u can buy shopback gc

Using the card first time. Can you use it online to pay for flight ?

  • First time spending over a thousand at Woolies, CBA credit card did not work, it required an in-app verification, but the EFTPOS terminal didn't wait for a confirmation and declined the transaction.

    Amex was accepted.

    • It appears that if you acknowledge the transaction in-app, retry would work.

    • Let me guess, you are in VIC?

  • Can we still call a call centre and request the card to be temporarily locked (as I wait for the new invoice coming up in October later)? Then I can call them again to unlock when I wish to pay for the invoice. Just try to avoid the card being hacked. Thanks.

  • +2

Just wanted to say, thank you to the lovely gentleman, who kindly gave me a card, when there was only two on display this morning!

I appreciate your generosity and grateful for you goodwill :-)

  • 100s in my Woolies today.

Just got one and didn’t hide any in freezer lol

  • Can u use this to pay ATO? Need to pay BAS

  • Heaps at Frenchs Forest (NSW) just now

I just realised I bought the Vanilla Visa variable instead of the Vanilla Mastercard, I bought x2 $500 variable.

Watch out! Don't make the same mistake, I feel so foolish.

    • +3

I feel for you mate. I did similar mistake sometime back but I suggest contacting everyday rewards support team and explain your mistake. I did last time and got lucky and they did apply points to my account manually. All the best.

      • +1

I reached out to the support team, they manually credited me with the bonus points with very little fuss. Thanks for the suggestion and big kudos to their support team.

    • Already reminded it below the 1st comment. Sorry to hear, though.

    • what's the difference? You get no points? Is the right one the one that says "a gift for you" or something like that?

      • +1

White one is Visa, you get no points. Blue one is Mastercard, which is the correct one.

    • I did the same. Still time to get your fill.

      • +2

  • Just got my first batch of 5,000 QFF points instantly after making the purchase with my Amex. Looking to boost my Google Wallet with some Special gift cards for tomorrow.

  • Just tried to add card to Paypal account , and listed as already linked to another account .. immediately rushed to put to utility bill account.

Reminder to spend immediately everyone !!

    • :(

and the packaging was brand new, no signs of tampering?

      • Perfectly intact. I was aware of previous tampering issues so I was attentive to check.

        • +5

That is normal and it has nothing to do with your card. These card number is reused with different expiry date and CVV.

How do you think they have enough card number to issue new prepaid cards when they only have about 6 digits (1 million cards number) to use.

          • +1

@samehada: Once have coles prepaid mc used to $0 before the activation date. Took many months to get back the $$$.

  • It seems that Vanilla has changed provider to Mastercard instead of Visa hence the promo is only on the new MC version. They should have gotten rid of the old Visa one to avoid confusion. This is the same provider as Coles Mastercard GC and with the same balance website to check balance and with the same BIN

The funny thing is they have not even updated the logo on https://mybalancenow.com/ website, when I check this Vanilla Mastercard GC it is showing the Coles MC $100 photo despite showing $500 balance.

This is also a good thing if you use this to pay ATO since this card has 0.2% fee instead of 0.4% fee for the Visa one. Another good point is that you can set PIN for this card unlike the Visa one which you can't set PIN which used to cause issue with some EFTPOS check out before at Coles which requires you to sign the name. (especially when ppl did the inception last time)

I guessed we may see the $500 version for Coles MC in the future and who knows Coles may run some promotion when they have it.

  • This OzBargain listing says that 2 x $500 cards = $1015.90 expenditure would get me 10x points = $50 worth of Everyday Rewards dollars.
No! My register receipt says that I have only been awarded 1000 points - worth about $5.00
Considering that I paid $15.90 in fees, it seems that I have LOST $10.90 on this transaction.
    What have other purchasers experienced?

      • No. The Mastercards. However, my good news is that notwithstanding what the register receipt said was only 1000 points, I have now logged into my account and found that the correct $50 worth has now been credited. Website correct. Docket wrong.

  • +1

It actually says Coles prepaid master card when you check balance. Probably not ideal from a branding perspective.

    • I only just saw that too …. but too busy checking the remainder of all MC cards to notice!

  • Can these be paid for with credit card, or only debit/EFTPOS?

  • Finally found a WW with heaps of them, but the activation failed. They tried over and over, couldn't get it to activate so they refunded me the money.

    • +5

      Congrats! Free 5k EDR pts.

    • Same with me yesterday after going to two stores. Gave up eventually, are the variable cards all erroring out?

      • Are you guys all in VIC?

        • yes, vic.

    • same here for me too! Just hoping those EDR points stays.

I have a targeted offer of spend $100 and collect 4300 points in store. T&C did not exclude gift cards, do anyone have something similar to this can confirm if it stacks with this gift card offer?

    • No, within my knowledge

    • Look at FAQ, you will find it generic t n c.

      • Thanks. I bought $500 and didn't stack, 5000 pts are nice enough anyway.

It works on the woolies giftcard senior portal, just need to do via PayPal as usual

  • looks like there's some glitch with their system. bought 5x$100 cards yesterday and today. only got 2000 points each transaction. have to contact customer service support for missing points and points are credited back to account instantly.

    • Sounds like they have applied the variable card limit to the static cards accidentally

    • I’m having the same problem only received 2000

      • Contacted support, told me I need to wait 14 days

    • how many points popped up on the register when you paid?

  • +1

Anyone has any idea how to use the remaining balance of say $1.00 or 50cts on your gift card? I have lots of cards with just less than a dollar in the remaining balance.Thks

    • pay utility bill.

    • +2

Take to Woolies/Coles and split payment across the leftover cards

      • +2

If you have an amazon account, buy electronic amazon gift cards, then add to your Amazon account.

    • +1

As mentioned, utility bills, toll accounts are the easiest. Or use Sniip for Bpay payments (e.g. into your super account).

  • I just tried buying this with TCN etfpos carrd. Does not work. So sad.

  • Out of 6 purchases, 3 GCs failed to be activated. Pretty high failure rate…

    • what would you do to get them activated after that?

      • +1

They refunded the money. Free 5000 points each fail.

  • Still variable load stock at Dural NSW

  • Hi All,
I tried using this card to pay my strata at the post office. However, the transaction was declined with the error "Transaction not allowed" upon choosing a savings account.
Then, I used the same card on the DEFT payment systems online, and the payment went through successfully.

Has anyone experienced the same issue using this card to pay bills at Auspost?

    Thanks.

    • Credit ✔️

      • +1

Thank you for the response - it only gave me the option of Cheque or Savings though :)

        • +3

Cheque/Savings is an EFTPOS thing. Debit and Credit cards use Credit. As this is not an EFTPOS card, neither of those options will work for you as it would never get to the Mastercard network for approval

        • +2

Did you ask to pay by Mastercard or eftpos?

Australia Post’s checkout system actually gives the staff member different payment options. One time, the staff member showed me what was on their monitor, and I could see the following options:

          • Visa
          • Mastercard
          • eftpos
          • Cheque (i.e. cheques from banks, not the eftpos CHQ option)
          • Cash

If you asked to pay by eftpos, my theory is that you would have only see Savings or Cheque as network options on the EFTPOS terminal. Next time, ask to pay by Mastercard (or Visa, whatever is applicable for you), and you will either see the Credit option on the EFTPOS terminal, or the staff member will tell you that Mastercard is not accepted.

The next issue is whether DEFT accepts Mastercard payments when paying in-person at Australia Post. Some billers (e.g. ATO) do not accept Visa nor Mastercard payments in-person at Australia Post, but they accept cash, cheque and eftpos.

    • That is likely because biller won't accept Credit Card payment, you can only pay using EFTPOS card.

  • Is there any point going out to look for these still or are they pretty much sold out?

    • Plenty stock for variable one. I been buying 4 /day.

      • +1

Really depends… both inner Melbourne Woolworths I visited ran out of variable on the 2nd day of deal

      • Tried new reward card but no reward points…

      • 4/day? for 2 different ER accounts?
