Noice, got a few of these last time. Works well zigbee2MQTT and home assistant.

    • Same. For a while I found they were eating through batteries, but a firmware update seemed to have fixed that.

      • did you get an alert from your app there was a new firmware update for it or did you have to manually update?

I actually moved my hue kit temporarily over to a hue bridge and it updated the lot automagically.

    • Do you have any Zigbee2mqtt hubs you recommend?

      • +2

I can't, I'm using the skyconnect USB with home assistant so no Zigbee hub. If you're using home assistant that's a pretty simple setup, plug the USB in, add zigbee2MQTT and off you go.

I'd probably have a look at a few youtube channels, I've found digiblur DIY very informative.

  • Does this work with non-Philips smart bulbs?

    • Only if you use Home Assistant. Out-of-the-box it only controls Hue devices.

This is my favourite smart switch, it works perfectly with HA.

Just looked that up. Needs a server and some other tech. Maybe not then. Thanks.

Just needs a raspberry pi which is pretty cheap. That then acts as a bridge between your devices. Sure, once you start, Home Assistant can be a pretty big time sink.

You can open battery compartment and use paperclip to reset and set it up with something else such as Hubitat. This means the dimmer switch could do whatever you can imagine. Play a sound or start a sequence of actions. There is no limit once you break free from the boring limits of Hue ecosystem.

Hubitat is on the easier side of home automation. It helps to be at least a gadget tinkerer, but who isn't that! I'd say Home Assistant + Raspberry Pi is more difficult.

I swapped out talking to Google with a bunch of these. Best thing ever. Have most of mine controlling Tuya devices.

    • what hub you get and do you recommend it?

      • For Hue to Tuya control I'm using the Home Assistant program, if that's what you mean by Hub.

        • Ya - what hardware you have home assistant running on?

This has now dropped further to $25.82.

  • Seems the link is broken and I can't find it on Amazon anymore.

  • Seems still be available or to be back in stock

  • still working, bunnings have the same price, jbhifi price match bunnings, worked for me today.
