Milwaukee Fastback Utility Knife Set - 2 Piece $19.95 (RRP $34.95) + Delivery @ Total Tools

251

Seems like a great deal for a very popular utility knife.

Cheaper than buying the knife by itself, which is normally $25.

Click and collect seems to be an option, but can't seem to find any stock locally. Appears shipping can vary (was $6 for me)

Use kitchen knife and save $2

Use a house key and save a kitchen knife.

No, theres something really just right about these knives (esp the longer one) you can open the larger one with a flick which is very tactile. I love mine (I only use it to open cardboard lol)

  • No collect available for me and after entering my address put the shipping up to almost $10 which has put me off, especially as I already own one of the compacts. Great knife though

Out of stock, even for delivery.

    • Probably because Total Tools has had them on clearance at this price for a long time. I tried a couple of months ago to grab this deal, but my local didn't have any in stock.

  • Not available for delivery in Brisbane????
Is this a Qld law thing? Plenty of local stores but none have stock.

Hit and miss it seems, they will deliver to my suburb in Brisbane (East) but not my parents or sister suburbs (North)

      For me its:
Standard Delivery $5.14 (Free over $99)
      Express Delivery $6.54 (1-2 days)

I don't understand how there's a market for fixed blade cutters when break-off blades exist. I have tried hard to find a use for them and can't (I use cutters very often at work and home). It's such a hassle having to swap blades so often. The snap-off's are so easy and versatile - and way cheaper for those who care, which should be a few on here.

Can anyone help me achieve that doh! moment?

Those snap-off blades aren’t really ergonomic and I find these are safer and more user-friendly. With these you flip the blade when it’s blunt and replacement blades storage also double as a safe blade disposal. If you have anything sticky or dried on windows, you can easily pop out your blade without needing to go pick up a purpose tool. I use the snap-offs for more precise cuts and these I use when I just need something cut. I can as much pressure as I want, I can even cut through plaster pretty easily.

I’d say both are similar but different tools for different applications.

    • What type of work?
I use fixed blade mostly, have both.
Typically a better form for pockets and in the hand.
I'm much more confident in the strength of a fixed blade.
Cutting through pinboard materials, laminate sheets and plastics, etc.

  • Damn, not available anywhere near me. I’ve had one for a while now and it’s come in clutch. I find I’m leaning more toward the compact as the lack of wire stripper means it doesn’t get caught so easily. Great for quick jobs. Didn’t think I’d use the hex bit as often as I have as well. The quick release acts as a good fidget toy lol
