    No Jack here. Cheers OP

    Yeah, website very slow.

Shopback tracked which is a first

  • +3

After checking these "sale" prices ended up with ordering from a local BJ store. Convenient, quicker, $160 cheaper.

  • Prices jacked lol

  • +1

Got Pirelli tyres from these guys during last years BF sale. Price was good enough, process was pretty fast but had to go back because somehow they replaced ONE of the tyres with a different brand..

Some kid got yelled at when I brought my car back. Be careful to double check, mycar usually gets slammed during these sales.

    • Last time I used them which was some years ago they completely changed all four tyres with a different brand. Good to see some things never change

  • In general thoughts on mycar? Good place to get my vehicle serviced? I have a Merc and a Mazda

    thanks!

  • +1

Dont know if the prices are jacked but they've removed some of the cheaper offerings

  • -1

bad customer service, jaxtyres much better, and they priced match. never going back to these clowns.

  • +1

I had great success. Called first thing this morning at 08:00AM AEST - got through 15mins later and ordered the second to last last set for my size in the state. 215/60/R16.

  • Just checked my car tyres, looks like there is only 1 that's almost worn out. 2 tyres have the same brand, which most likely were replaced at the same time, and the other 2 have a different brand. Apparently, when I bought the car from a dealer, they just changed one of the tyres without changing the other one.

Is it OK to just change only the one that's almost worn out or it's better to also change the opposite side as well, although the one on the opposite side seems to still last for at least another year?

    • +1

Generally rule of thumb is to have the same set of tyres on each axle.

    • Generally the minimum but still safe method is to replace both tyres on the same axle at the same time.

Otherwise the new and old tyres will have different diameters due to tyre wear which may affect your car handling and sensors.

Of course if the old tyre is still in a "as new" condition then its fine to just replace one imo.

Very disappointing, Ring the local store at 9 am sharp and was told that Pireli tyres the one that we have chosen are already sold out.

It really surprised me that store opened at 9 o’clock and they already sold out. Doesn’t really make a sense.

  • Don't forget shopback cashback

  • Anyone know if you can book it over the phone for 2 weeks time and pay then?

  • +4

Similar to other buyers I was skeptical of this sale. Tyres I wanted were “call for availability“ - so committed two phone calls yesterday to my local mycar and could not get an answer on availability of a full set of Pirelli Scorpion Verde (255/40/20). He couldn’t find out from their “warehouse” whether they were available.

Called this morning and of course “sold out”, I was advised the remaining “stock” would have been cleared out when sale started. I then informed her they haven’t been available to order online all week - to which they had no reply. I asked why advertise online that you can order when you cannot. Again, no response.

Another interesting point is that they were $555 a tyre yesterday (I have the screen shot). Today they are $589.

I’ll take it as a sign to buy something else and not waste my time on them again.

    • You interested in submitting the screenshots to accc? Someone burned shouod compile everyone's, there are a few here who are commenting they have screenshots. Mine werent price jacked, but others' were.

  • No price jacking for the two sizes I'm interested in: 215/55/17 (available) and 225/45/19 ("limited") Powergy.

Might mostly be the premium sizes / series that got jacked?

    • +1

Even if not jacked the 225/45/19 Powergy is $972 for 4.
Bob Jane's price is $949.20 and their sale is going till next week.

      • Do you know if the Bob Jane price stacks with the $100 etc Pirelli cashback - I might go for Powergy instead of Conti TC6 if so.

        • I believe the cashback comes from BJ, not Pirelli. Therefore you choose either cashback or 30% off.

    • No price jacking for 225/45/17 either.

  • Just booked and made payment online, card got charged but no email whatsoever. Anyone?

    • I got an email so what happened to you doesn't seem normal

      • yea… I contacted MyCar care team yesterday via email and got reply back today confirming my appointment, it seems like something was off on their website yesterday.

  • After about half an hour waiting I was told type 205/50/16 is not available….a COMPLETE waste of my time

  • Can't even get payment processed online, keep on encountering an error

  • Tyres in stock for both our vehicles.
    Processed each individually via ShopBack.
One 'oops website bla bla error' during mine.
We both received emails pretty much straight away upon completion with booking numbers.
Mrs even got a call asking if changing day/time would be ok as online portal allowed multiples at same time - worked out even better as it's now earlier than what the portal offered.
All in all was around 20 minutes or less for both.

Given some other sales I've been involved in & chased this was effortless & negative HFs.

    Double thumbs up!

  • +1

Neg for website not ticking over (much), 30 mins on phone, only to be told 195/65r15 are not available anywhere.
    Sale is a joke IMHO.

    • Technically speaking, it was a successful sale for them. Thanks for playing!

    • only to be told 195/65r15 are not available anywhere.

Yeah they don't seem to stock that size in pirellis.

But they're only $111 each (Powergy and add another $100 or so for fitting) from Tyroola anyway.

  • Just got 4 x Powergy for my 2002 Ford Fairmont.
$119 each plus $89 for a wheel alignment.
Can't complain, they all needed replacing anyway and this is a great price.
    Booked and paid for!
Thanks OP for the heads up!

I'm not sure what the big deal is… and I mean that objectively.

Literally every month there is 25% off one or two of the big brands. They seem to be on a rotating schedule but there's always deal to be had on good tyres, every single month.

Not sure why the extra 15% off is causing such a feeding frenzy?? Especially when it seems near impossible to find any in stock.

However, if Bob Jane is Matching this Pirelli deal, that might make it a bit more appealing for anyone who doesn't have a MyCar near them (My closest store is over a 2hr20min return trip.

    • +1

Not sure why the extra 15% off is causing such a feeding frenzy??

      Are you new to Ozbargain?

      • -1

I'd definitely understand if it was 50% off (like it was last year and the year before), effectively another free tyre above and beyond the regularly achievable deals every month. That would tip the scale for me…

    • I believe the appeal may come from the fact that the three big premium tyre brands (Michelin, Pirelli and Continental) are rarely discounted to this extent or at all.

As you rightly mention, there are often 25% off deals floating around but they are reserved for the more budget to mid-tier brands (Toyo, Yokohama, Bridgestone, Goodyear…).

That's just my 2 cents but I could be wrong :)

  • Thanks, ordered 245/45/18 Powergies at 8am online without any issues

  • Managed to order mine online but the website was laggy af.

Also, got charged twice with an email confirming it with the same confirmation number. Does anyone know how I can go about getting the double charge fixed?

    • Wait a couple of days if it is still there, either ask them to refund it or raise a case with your bank

  • +2

Prices at MyCar are rather inflated, with 40% brings the pricing back to normal pricing.

    Example… Pirelli 255/30R20 92Y r-f P-ZERO PZ4 (*)Runflat

    MyCar $999/ $599 after discount: https://www.mycar.com.au/tyres/pirelli/p-zero-pz4/255-30R20/…
    Temprtyres $570: https://www.tempetyres.com.au/tyreproducts?pirelli-255/30r20…
    Tyroola $592: https://www.tyroola.com.au/v1-pirelli-pzero-pz4-bmw-runflat-…

    • +1

$798 with BobJane and they are running a 30% promo, thats $558.60 discounted. https://www.bobjane.com.au/a/255-30r20-tyres/pirelli/pirelli…

      • Plus BJ web site is way faster and their Tyre Frenzy will be going till Monday.

        • Yep. I rang them this morning and was told that they've have enough Pirelli tyres stocked, so I booked a time on Friday for a set of 20" Pirelli scorpions- transaction done in 5mins. :)

      • What do BJ charge for a wheel alignment when fitting x 4 tyres?

        • $89 in Boxhill Vic.

    • The Cheapest fitting Price on tyroola is $156 for 4 Tyres in my location plus $40. mycar is definitely cheaper

  • +1

Tyroola don't have fitment included in the price though?

  • +2

Once you account for fitment & charges at other places, this promo brings Mycar into parity with other offerings. Slightly better than some, slightly worse than others. I find there is less than $200 between them for a 4 tyre fitment with alignment & balancing.

I went with mycar because they are walking distance away, worth it to save myself time. Lets see if they are worth the premium they usually charge (doubt it)

  • I keep getting Something Went Wrong, Please try again. when adding to cart?

  • +1

Wasn't going to buy till my tyre popped up a mountain today

  • Any one who ordered, did you receive any confirmation with details? All i received is a booking confirmation at physical store with no order details

    • +1

I reckon the physical store sends the detailed confirmation. I received detailed confirmation almost immediately, then generic one an hour later.

      • +1

I will just email them, I have only recevied booking confirmation instantly when I did It last night. Nothing detailed yet

  • Does anyone have booings, every store is booked out till the 13th for me. Even mobile fitting I can't do till the 13th

    • My booking is also for the 13th, perhaps it’s to give them time to ship all these tyres from the warehouse to the store

      • called via phone and got booked in for tomorrow

    • +1

Try getting price match at Jax or Bob Jane. They are available.

    • I ordered from a local BJ store yesterday. They just called saying they have the tyres. No slow website, no 20 mins waiting on the phone, no week waiting.

  • +3

Reading some of the comments, I'm kinda glad I didn't stress myself out trying to get this. I know, stressful deals are sometimes the Ozbargain way.

Anyway, my local Tyrepower was able to do 4xToyo tyres for $147 each. They fitted them etc. on the same day I enquired and I'm really happy with them.

Kudos to those who managed to get this deal easily though.

    • Very true. Some deals just aren't worth chasing if stressful. Remember the old days when people lined up outside Myer so they could rush in on opening to grab those few $50 microwaves..?

Noone has mentioned how poor Pirelli tyres have become in the last 10 years either…..

  • Dear mycar team
Been trying to reach you guys by phone since this afternoon. Just get qeued for ages and ages. Tried recalling same thing. How can i contact you. Been after this tyre deal b4 the day ends but cant get any answer on the phones.. 🙏

    • Called them twice today no issues except the 20 minute hold time

    • Just buy online from Jax Tyres or Bob Jane. Both have almost the same pricing as this deal for the next few days.

  • +2

So annoying. Had the tyre I wanted listed yesterday. Listing removed today. Grrrrrr….

  • +1

Interesting they were still running TV ads fir this sale late yesterday afternoon, despite it seems no-one being able to buy anything

    • +1

      I bought tyres at 9pm

  • oh dear, i missed this deal… forgot to set up reminder

    • Check other companies. JAX and Bob Jane has similar prices till Monday.

  • +1

After all the dodgy price jacking and removing tyres from their website as the "sale" starts and other shenanigans, that people wouldn't want to give them their money/support…

  • +1

Found the process with MyCar all a bit odd.

Limited stock online, so had to call the local store.
Called local store. No stock. So they offered to process the transaction as a pre-sale.
Pre-paid for 4 Scorpion Verdes by sms link. But no confirmation of the transaction. No email, no sms.
They can't say when or if they can get stock from Pirelli.

Called back today. Apparently they only process the job/invoice once the tires are actually fitted.
So I guess they've got my money until whenever.

Happy to grab them at sale price, but all pretty unconventional. Seems their stock management systems need an overhaul.

BTW, local BJ store told me they can't match "promotional" prices. They're happy to match the "normal" price however.

    • Super odd! 😬

    • +1

      Update….
With rego now due in a couple of days I called back yesterday to check stock .
Was told they can't get the Verde's so the store manager made an executive decision to give me the Scorpion MS (newer model) for the same price. Great. Booked in a fitting for this morning.

So I took the morning off work and drove to get them fitted only to be told that they could do the MS… but for a higher price…$500 more! FFS. After telling me on the phone that they could do them for the same price, dragging me down there, wasting my time, then trying to upsell me over the counter. I couldn't f*ing believe it. In desparation they tried to offer me a downgrade to some Kumhos for the same price as the Pirellis!

Needless to say, I cancelled the sale, gave them a piece of my mind and walked out.

So after jerking me around for a week I now have 24 hours to find and fit reasonably priced tyres before rego is due tomorrow.

With this and all the reported price jacking… never again.

  • Phone call today, no stock, can't fit the Pirelli tyres, bad luck.

  • Called me 2 hours before my booking to tell me they weren't sure what time my tyres would come in… but then received a call at my exact time to say that they arrived.

Fitted and balanced with no issues - I wanted a pink slip but would have taken 3 hours due to backlog of Pirelli fittings rip.

  • +2

Terrible experience. Will never use MyCar again. Ordered and paid for my tyres on sale day and booked the installation for this morning. Also got a reminder email 2 days ago reminding me of my booking.

I arrive this morning, "oh sorry bro, I don't think we have your tyres in stock." Old mate goes out to double check. "Yeah nah, there's none of your tyres in the country bro. I can order them but it'll be at least a month or I can give you a refund." Should they not have already been ordered?

No offer of alternative tyres b and he couldn't even refund me on the spot. "Yeah you might have the money back in 5 days or so."

It would have been great to know before arriving at the store. What a terrible system and business.

    • I had the same experience. The tyres finally came in today.

  • Smooth experience from my local mycar at Browns Plains QLD today. Got a phone call the day before reminding me off my appnt. Checked my car in this morning and got tyres replaced painlessly. I only had two tyres replaced on the rear axle.

Interestingly they suggested I have the new tyres installed to the front and the old moved to the rear (even my actual mechanic suggested the same) but all the advice/articles online points to putting new tyres to the rear. So I requested they leave the new tyres on the rear and they politely obliged.

    • +1

Might depend if rear or front wheel drive. Makes sense to me to put the new tyres on the traction/powered axel.

  • My booking was last week, but when I arrived at the store, they informed me that the tyres hadn't arrived yet. They rescheduled my appointment for today and asked me to wait for their call. Since I didn't receive a call, I rang them this morning and was told that the quote had expired and was only valid until 29 June. This is quite disappointing.

    • Update: I got their reply and they said they can honor the discount. Let's see how it goes.

      • No phone call. I got to visit the store again today and told the order wasn’t placed. The guy called the supplier and chase. No luck. And booked me to visit them again tomorrow and said they will call me. No news from them so far. I’m not surprised if they don’t call me tomorrow. The service is too terrible.

        • They cancelled my order today. Period.

  • Update: Had 4 replacements and alignment, car still pulling to the left. Booked to go back in 2 weeks.
