        • FYI some Porsches are delivered with Yoko Advan tyres.

Almost a fake deal as my tyres cost normally $280 each but mycar has them for $435 each

    Pirelli
    What price for 225 70 r16

    • +12

Hello, Mr. Pirelli here. To complete your quote on the Ozbargain forum, please pay $900 to me as a holding deposit.

  • -2

I bought a pirelli tyre recently made in China.
Later discovered it is now a wholly owned Chinese company, hopefully the quality control is still ok.
Probably won't buy another as not worth the effort just for the brand name having lost its prestige status.

    • +3

Just like any other company, they made in China, Russia, Romania, Poland, India, Brazil, and Mexico.

    • having lost its prestige status.

      What ?

Pirelli are a top-tier manufacturer, along with Michelin, Continental etc.

They haven't lost any "prestige status".

      • +1

Mostly own by Italian by the looks of the pizza chart.

    • What a weird take. Its just a piece of rubber molded into a circle, its not that deep mate

  • +7

Continental owns mycar. Don't know why they don't have a Continental 50% off

The German manufacturing giant Continental AG purchased the chain in 2018 and undertook a complete rebrand from Kmart Tyre and Auto to Mycar. In many ways, it was simply a change of brand; the promise to deliver customer service at the highest level remained strong.

    • +1

The customer service may be at a high level, but the tech quality isn't.

      • 100%. Any store manager that has a clue there is run ragged.

  • -1

….Pirelli deal only available in Sydney and environs.

Between Powergy, Cinturato P7 and Dragon Sport (oops they don't carry them), which one has the highest treadwear rating?

Oh and Bridgestone have the buy 3 get 4th free on Turanzas ATM too

    • -1

I replaced my factory Turanzas with C7's last year . The Turanzas were 5 years old and had done ~60K with a little bit left in them . Very good milage .
The C7's are noticeably quieter and have way better wet weather grip in the wet . I would say the Turanza are the harder compound .

      • Yeah for sure the Turanzas will last longer cos they have the 50k guarantee. I was wondering between the two Pirellis which would have the longer tread life.

  • Looking for 4 x to replace the original Toyo set that came with our Honda CR-V.

    mycar automatically filters down to:
    - PIRELLI SCORPION VERDE 103V
    - PIRELLI SCORPION VERDE ALL SEASON XL (LR) <<<< does the LR (= Land Rover) really mean anything?

    These are the same price.

We are in Brisbane, drive ~10,000km/year, 90%+ trips are city driving, suspect 50% are short 10-20min trips.

Can anyone comment on their thoughts / recommendations, either on the above or something totally different?

    Thanks!

    • +1

LR does indeed stand for Land Rover as they use Scorpions as a standard fitment on many cars. I see that as a good thing to be honest and it relates to XL:-

XL means extra load, essentially you'll be getting stiffer sidewalls and a stronger build overall. Instead of a 103 load rating you might be looking at 113 etc, it's a tougher tyre basically. Might be better for potholes etc…

All Season means they're not purely a summer tyre so will likely be a better all rounder, i.e. will cope with rain better etc.

      • Thanks @freddofrog42

Can an LR be used on a non Land Rover? Is it just a marketing thing to put on the "LR" badge?

        • Absolutely they can. They'll likely just be a bit tougher than the regular version in the same size.

    • +1

I like the Pirelli Cinturato P1s on my CRV when I had it.

Great HT tyre and awesome in the wet. Better than Bridgestone Duellers I reckon.

  • $505 per tyre for 20" in 235/45/20 before discount.
Just got Tyroola for same tyre with Pirelli cashback and cashrewards for $1210 delivered and fitted. Normally these tyres are $350 at Tyroola.
Works out to be pretty much the same price as $505 is a joke for these tyres.

  • +1

I got this deal 2 years ago. Good price but at least my store seemed super bodge. I saw a mechanic drive a car over the radiator cap of the car he was working.
I found a package for a part left in my ute. Also they lost part of the steel rod use to lower my under tub spare. Didn't realise this until I tried to change a spare on a 4wd track.

    • Which local?

    • Some of the worst greasemonkeys work at KTAS.

  • Can this offer apply to Tyres that you need to order or only the ones in stock? Ty

EDIT: Nevermind, only ones in stock. "Book by telephone, online or in store, with mycar on Wednesday 05 June 2024 AEST (Promotional Period) any in stock Pirelli tyres with fitment and receive a discount of 40% off the recommended retail price of those Pirelli tyres (Offer Tyres) subject to these Terms and Conditions." Source: https://www.mycar.com.au/offers/eofy-sale

    • Damn, the size I'm after is out of stock. Will still try to give them a call and see if the discount can apply if I place an order on the day.

    • So it is says “limited” that means out of stock?

  • Never used Pirelli before - but can anyone comment on the difference between Pirelli,Michelin or Kumho? Reviews of Kumho seems pretty decent and better value for money but I'm assuming it doesn't last as long and performance not as good as Pirellie or Michelin?

    • Pirelli and Michelin would be better, quality and durability. In saying that, it’s better to monitor your pressure gauge regularly regardless of which tyres you buy. That’s the best way for tyre longevity- which is a common oversight imho.

      • +1

$30 AliExpress TPMS was the best money I ever spent on my car. No need to waste time checking pressures when it's live on your dash!

    • -1

Pirelli, Michelin are not the same level as budget brand Kumho. You want look at Hankook which is the OE supplier for plenty of Euro such as Audi, BMW and Mercedes, Porsche.

In 2020, Hankook is no7 on the global ranking sales, just behind no6 Pirelli.

Next time you go to the carpark at a shopping centre take note of the tyres fitted on late model cars.

    • You did your maths wrong : $370 minus 40% is cheaper than your other two options 🤷🏼‍♂️

      • Tempe Tyres prices for the PS5 and Potenza Sport werent even as cheap as they said either so not sure where they found those prices.

        • I'm also in the market for 245/45/R18 and at $370 the 40% discount makes the PZero just $222 👌

          • @Nom: You could have got for PS5 for about $100 more (for set of 4) during last month's Michelin cashback and probably longer lasting which makes up for the extra cost. Also better performance.

            • @8azinga: Yeah - I've got PS4 on there at the moment, they're a few years old now, and they've got a lot of visible tears in the treads. More than I'm happy with.

So I'll try something different this time. Just organised a set of PZero PZ4 from Jax Tyres who are also running a 30% Pirelli discount right now.

  • I need size 225/60 R18 for my Honda CRV and the only Pirelli in stock in all the nearby shops are the: PIRELLI SCORPION MS 100V.

Does anyone have any experience with those tyres? Can't find many reviews on those, the scorpion verde have good reviews but aren't in stock

    • I got the continental techcontact TC6 recently. They are pretty good.

      • But isn't this promotion only for Pirelli branded tyres?

      • +3

Hey has anyone use X item.

I bought Z item and it is good.

  • My VT Commodore is going to look so pimped…

  • +1

Useless as the phones lines going to be jammed, and then told after 6 hours wait they have no stock

    • Just order via the website.

I had a great experience during Black Friday last year. Ordered online for the installation in mid-January, received confirmation for the appointment. Arrived on the booked time/date and had the installation within the promised time, while waiting & working on my laptop near reception. The team at Dandenong VIC was great, sadly the centre closed soon after, but I have a couple more of them within 5-10 km from my place.

      • +3

it only works if the tyre you need are in stock. Otherwise, you have to call them.

      • I had the opposite experience during Black Friday. Ordered online, dropped my car at fountain gate VIC. Received a call 1 hour later saying there was no stock. They had to rebook the appointment 4 days later. Received the deal in the end.

    • i do it instore always

  • +2

So if I do a quote now, I can expect the prices to be 40% less in 2 days? Or will the price just jack?

  • +1

I'd rather pay more and go elsewhere than deal with Mycar Tyre and Auto again.

Between no stock, the system being down everysingletime I spoke to them, my order getting lost, having to wait almost 4 months to recieve my tyres and little things like not even having a sticker for my windscreen to serve as reminder when due for a rotation I've learnt if I'm going to deal with people who left school in year 9 I'm going to go somewhere that has their sh*t together.

  • +1

Have had the Scorpion Verde AS on our CRV, they lasted nearly 4 years and 50k or so. They were noticeable louder than the factory Dunlops. They also did not have the same grip as the Dunlops, especially in the wet. The last few months or so I would take extra care through roundabouts in the wet as they would tend to understeer easily with plenty of tread left. Can't recommend them
    Switched to Michelin PS4's

  • -1

    So how much for x4 255/30 ZR20 ,(92Y) R01?

    • $769—>$461 - stock at my local "limited"

So I can get Winrun tyres same size for $150 each - whats the diff?

      • +3

Winrun are total garbage (aka ditch finders).
Given that tyre size it's safe to assume you aren't driving a Camry/

For cheaper tyres look at Kumho tyres, they're a good compromise between quality and price.

  • I have a KIA Cerato.

Last year I had 2 of these tyres installed:
    Pirelli Cinturato P1 Ecoimpact 225/40R18 92W

Am looking to replace the remaining 2 tyres, but unfortunately doesn't look like the above is available anywhere (seems like they aren't sold anymore)

Does anyone know whether PIRELLI CINTURATO P7 (AO) XL 92Y would be suitable?

  • +1

Anyone done comparison with bob Jane?
They have 30% off Pirelli as well, albeit you need to get 4 to be eligible

    https://www.bobjane.com.au/promo/pirelli-30-percent-off-june…

    • For me pz4 work out about the same price.
Not sure if bobjane price was including figment though

      • Yeah must just be your imagination

    • In my size, the MyCar and Bob Jane and Tyroola prices are all very similar - within $50 for the full set of 4.

Not sure what the stock situation is like with MyCar or Bob Jane though - they're both "to order" and yet you have to have the tyres fitted within the deal time period 🤔

    • +1

Yeah great point. In my case, I went with Bob Jane T-Marts because price wise, it was only $6 more per tyre but well worth it due to the better reputation. Plus not to mention that it saved me the hassle of chasing mycar's deal tomorrow which is probably going to be a nightmare

    • Jax have same deal

      • Thanks for this - just ordered, in stock and ready to go for the same price as the Bob Jane / MyCar deals 👍

  • I've got the Pirelli tyres last BF deal replacing original Toyo that came fitted with the new car. Since replacing tyres I've noticed that car's fuel consumption has gone up. Previously it used to be 8-9l/100km whereas since replacement it's gone up to 11.5l/100km. Alignment and balancing is good, no signs of uneven wear. Car does feel smoother to drive though.

    • Heavier shoes perhaps?

    • What do you suspect?

      • I'm not sure if this is due to changing tyres or something else that might have coincided with changing tyres. I'll ask my mechanic when I'll go to get car serviced. Tyres pressure is always maintained and car has been looked after well. So increase in fuel consumption does bothers me. May be this is a cost towards a more comfortable drive with Pirelli tyres. Someone with more mechanical knowledge might give some insight.

        • +1

While tyres can affect fuel economy a little, it is highly unlikely it would cause this much difference (27.8-31.3% increase) so maybe something else changed that you are unaware of.

  • Doesn’t look like 40% off is active online

    • +1

      Never mind me. That’s tomorrow

  • +7

Well all of a sudden the Pirellis I was after turned from "in stock" to "limited" can can no longer be ordered online!

    • Same thing for my tyres lol

    • Yeah same issue

    • Just call them or go instore tomorrow. Could have sold them today or people booking in over the phone today for tomorrow to secure tyres and might be a delay to update inventory on the website. I can see Powergy XL, Cinturato P7 and P Zero at a few stores but most are out so its not like mycar are removing them from sale.

    • Hmmmm 🤔 is it supposed to go live at midnight? Wondering if its worth waiting for these tricks…

      • Site was super slow as of 11:40pm lol

        Edit: 12:03am site down

    • +1

+1 this. Corolla 195/65R15 Pirelli’s Powergy suddenly removed as available options straightup. Smh

  • +3

    Got through booking confirmed

    • Through phone? Or online…?

      • +2

Online. I had it in my cart before midnight. Then just tried to get through refreshing to update price and checkout.

        • Yeah likewise. Hoping for no changes now that payment has gone through. Took around 5 refreshes
          GL all

          • +1

@Embaloo: Yep took me a few tries to finish checkout even with tyres already in cart. Very relieved it didn't hang on me during final payment verification.

        • +1

Solid. Unfortunately for most, their tyre size is not available online.

I actually just tried to call now but no luck (I remember a few black fridays ago the call centre was taking calls until 11:59pm).

  • Thanks OP, got myself 4x scorpions all seasons (225/60R18-100V).

  • +7

Price got jacked. Five minutes before midnight, price was $265 for Pirelli Powergy XL 100Y 245/45R18.

Once the website was able to load (around 10 minutes past midnight as it was error 503'ing), then price increased to $279 each.

The 40% discount still applied in the cart (when it eventually loaded) however there was obviously less discount all things considered.

I compared to Bob Jane T-Mart that are also running a sale on the same Pirelli's and ended up going with Bob Jane. BJ was $6 total more however they offer far more convenience in location and having being there before, good to deal with. (Bob Jane T-Mart has 30% discount but 'buy one get one free' which evens the playing field). I'll save more than $6 in fuel had I needed to travel to a local mycar location plus hang around the shops for a few hours, so I win really.

BJ also have a "Best Tyre Price Guarantee" -> Find an identical locally stocked tyre for less and we'll match it and pay you 10% of the difference*. I'll run this past them and see how I go. I could end up with a price match and another 68 cents discount.

    • Just checked and can confirm this. I managed to find the tyre size I needed though, and bought already from mycar. Price on mycar is still cheaper by $6 per tyre, haha.

This is my first time dealing with them, and I hope they are doing well.

    • I submitted a price match request, but they refused because MyCar's sale is an exclusive offer and gets special discounts from the supplier, which they couldn't match.

  • Bought 4. Thks OP.

  • +1

    Bought PIRELLI SCORPION VERDE ALL SEASON 98H 225/55R18 98H x 4 @ $185.00/ea. Thanks OP!

    • +1

Did the same and booked on the 29th as current tyres still have some life in them.

Bit over $200 per a corner with wheel alignment included. The location of Mycar is the best part as it is so convenient for us

  • don't forget shopback

    • Damn I was so excited to see the tyres available online that I forgot Shopback :(

  • +2

Can confirm that RRP price gets unethically jacked up as sale begins.
    255/30 PZero R20 92Y XL screen shot 1 day ago $769 now $809
    wheel alignment +$89

  • Bought 4 and shopback already tracked. Thanks op

  • +2

Jack well at play - $219 yesterday to $229 today = $24 more i had to pay. Thanks Jack

  • +3

shouldve got screenshots to prove the jacking, and then sending en masse to the ACCC

tyres I was looking at on Monday were $699/ea, now $729/ea before discount …. miraculous

  • Is it just me or the website is struggling big time xD

  • I cant even get into the site at the moment…. Theyre getting hammered?
