  I don't have this umbrella, but I had another Samsonite I bought a few years back in Europe for around $40 AUD IIRC. I thought that a Samsonite umbrella would be the last umbrella I'd have to buy for a long time, but I was wrong.

  Within a year or two of usage, it broke where the stretcher meets the rib (I had to google this, as I'm no umbrella expert), as they literally punch a hole in the sheet metal to feed a metal rod through. There wasn't any way I was able to repair this, and I ended up having to throw it in the bin.

  I'm definitely holding out for a blunt deal, as I hear they are BIFL umbrellas, but I'll never buy another Samsonite as they seem to be constructed fairly similarly to anything else that's under $50.

  Sounds like people don't recommend these for quality. Had an umbrella snap on me recently in multiple places from only mild wind. Any recommendations on sturdy brollies that don't break the bank?
