    Does anyone know if you can run XBMC/PLEX from this and then stream TV shows or something through it?

    • Yes both. Plex app is well supported and the app works app is about $5 from Google Play. XBMC is a hack and the MK808 needs to be rooted to run, and there are some issues with it, check the You Tube vid.

      • Okay cool. Also, what do you think is the cheapest way for me to run Plex with the unsupported app store for streaming?

  • Seems like really good specs for $50…

  • A mate from work just bought 1 from china, very happy with it but he said he should have held off for the UG007. Faster processor and bluetooth. Rep do you sell these?

      I'm still waiting for these Android sticks that includes the following out-of-the-box:
      * Bluetooth
      * more USB ports - 2 or preferably 3 ports instead of 1, so I can plug in keyboard/mouse/external Hard disks/pen drives/etc.
      * a very simple remote - e.g. 4 arrow keys + enter + the 4 android buttons [back/home/task switch/menu]
      * Ethernet port
      …. if someone could make one that has that, it would blow most standalone media players out of the water. Send one to everyone with commit access to CyanogenMod for bonus points, for some kick-ass ROM support. The end price would be maybe $10 - $15 more than these units, but they would be so much more powerful that it would be trivially worth it.

  • Is this the one that overheats and has buggy wifi?

    Pretty good, but I think it's better just to run an android emulator with a proper PC…

    That's the biggest bargain you can get.

      The one with the issues is the MK802, the issues were resolved in the MK808.

      "but I think it's better just to run an android emulator with a proper PC"

      I think you miss the point of this device. It's not to try and get Android on your TV, it's to get a cheap media player. If you've already got a PC you wouldn't bother with Android.

  • Doesn't suit my needs but I'll give it a +ve vote…

  • how to connect this with keyboard and mouse?

    • using Bluetooth, but rep, why on your facebook pages, most of the people complaining not received their product after months???

    Would avoid from this seller, bought 1 month ago from them, posted on facebook, they never care to response for help.
    Tracking system is hopeless.

      Same story. I bought mine on 12/10/12 and still waiting.

      thanks for the warning

  • Rep, I'm thinking of ordering an ainol hero, when will you ship them out?

  • Can these handle 4GB 720p mkv files easily?

    Thanks

    • yes

      • I have a Motorolla Xoom and I can never find a decent player to play mkvs. I'm surprised this thing can easily play mkv files.

        Is it somehow tweaked to play videos easily?

        Can they support any video format like VLC player for windows?

        Thanks in advance.

          MX Player

        • Yeh MX Player wouldn't work smoothly.

        • try dice player!
          but tegra2 is quite fail at hd vids..

        • So this cheap CPU is more optimized for videos than tegra 2?

        • +1

          What? I've played mkv's with MX Player never had a problem.

        • +2

          The Quad core mali gpu does

        • Last I checked, the RK3066 wasn't too far behind the tegra 3 (and in some cases, better)

        • Playability depends on bitrate of audio/video used in file. If its too high you will get choppy sound/laggy vid from skipped frames (slideshow like).

  • Can the status bar be hidden on full screen for this device?

    Add a wireless keyboard/mice and its not cheap… Would be good if it comes with a basic remote control

    i dont understand this device, so u are plugging this into ur tele and then how do u interact with it, it has no remote, they say u can play angry birds, how can u do that? with the tv remote??

    • It's basically a tiny computer with android and you connect it to a tv. You just plug in the peripherals (mouse+keyboard) or mouse only if you want it to be cheaper. You might need an additional usb hub since this only has one USB port.

      But if you already have a computer with HDMI output and it's small form factor, you might as well just use the PC or laptop instead.

      An actual portable tablet (7 inch), might cost less than the total you might spend on getting the whole android mini PC working. I think you can get cheap tablets with HDMI output for around $100.

      So you're basically choosing between a touch screen (with a long hdmi cord, shorter if you are only going to go up to it and use it to play media) or using mouse+keyboard.

      I would have thought this would be the most important aspect:
      Having a tablet you can take around with you.

        "I think you can get cheap tablets with HDMI output for around $100"

        I looked around recently & you can actually get one with basic specs + HDMI for ~$50-65 on Aliexpress.

        Also agree with your points above (I was thinking the same things). I think these are pretty redundant atm. Better to get tablet over android stick.

  • Just ordered this but found that they didn't shipped the AC adaptor. I've ask for a refund which they have generated me an invoice.
