  • there is a v2 of this router that has additional RAM and other features.
might pass on this if it isn't.

Is this a modem router? Just need something to connect to the internet

    • Want to know too, is this easy set up? Need change to new internet provider.

This isn't a modem. It won't work with FTTN connections

      • Thanks. Want to change to tpg but every provider asking me to buy their modem.

  • This or the ax-82u (German version)?

I don’t need strong wifi signal. I more so need device that handles a lot of wired connections

  • Processor is marginally faster than AX3000 but ram and flash are half of that. Does it support merlin?

    • Not from what I can see. Only the V1 (non-P version) supports Merlin.

  • The RT-AX1800 is basically the RT-AX55 yeah?
Have always been confused with the parallel model naming.

Might get one to mesh with my AX54 and put the wifi extender out of its misery

    • I find Asus' router naming very confusing. Tend to look at spec, easier.

    • But this on sale is the RT-AX3000P (AX3000). It's probably better than the RT-AX55 AX1800 model. It's based on a newer tech router. It might be a cut down RT-AX3000. Slower CPU and less ram.

      • ok so looks like RT-AX3000 = RT-AX58U

  • Noob question. Can I use this with HFC NBN and the little black NBN box?

    • +1

Yes you can as this is just a WiFi router. The little black NBN box you're talking about is the HFC modem. You just need a router such as this. Connect the Ethernet cable from the UNI-D1 port on the NBN box (HFC modem) and connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the WAN port on the router. It will work fine.

Watch the NBN HFC self install video tutorial from the NBN and you will see. Refer to 1min 25sec in the video where it mentions needing a router.
