Does this use a regular motherboard / PSU or the idiotic Dell proprietary ones?

    • +5

      Dell proprietary

    • +6

Based off my experience with Dell.. the idiotic ones.

Worst I ever saw was an HP whose motherboard firmware only permitted it to recognise the two lacklustre OEM GPU's which could have been ordered with that PC at manufacture - and nothing else.

It's a normal ATX power supply. I have one and installed a 1060 in it and had to replace the power supply. I'm not sure if the 460w ps comes with pcie connectors. I know the one I had didn't but I think that was 350w. I know the ones at work have a a2000 video card and have the bigger power supplies that have the pcie power connectors

    It's not a Dell, it's a LLED.

    • I'm sorry, I didn't get it.
      Dell spelt backwards?

    • Great, I’ll pair it with a FFalcon monitor.

3630's MB supports Xeon E 21XX /22XX. And ECC ram
Using this small tower PC as light-weight server.
    Only has 300W PSU though.

    • socket 1150/51 whatever… dunno if that's even worth delving into in 2024

      • To be honest yes - a Ryzen 3 3600/5600 build would be better.

But for the money this is great, you wouldn't buy it to replace the CPU though. Just get a GPU like a RTX3060 or a 2060 and you've got a solid 1080p system. You'd probably get away without buying a new PSU, but I'd encourage to factor this in.

    Manual is here:

Has some good pics of the psu. Looks like it could be atx. Can't tell from the pics if theres a pcie underneath the mess of cables.

      Standard ATX PSU

      • Standard ATX PSU connectors or Dell shitty pinout though? :)

    • Seem comes with graphic card PCIE power

This generation of CPU is the oldest one that supports Windows 11, with Win10 no longer being supported by Microsoft from next year.

If you're looking at multiple systems, 8th gen or newer, even if you end up using Linux.

Officially, of course. It runs fine if you just bypass the check, or use Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC.

  • Does anyone know if the integrated graphics would support dual 1080p monitors?

    • +2

      Yep

    • Yes… Monitors need display port input or appropriate cables/adaptor if you only have HDMI inputs

  • could probably use it as a base for Plex NAS server/transcoding.

We use this model in offices as workstations, the reliability is terrible (compared to HP), frequently power supply error, or extreme fan noise.

  • How many 3.5" drive bays/Sata Ports does this have?

  • Would pairing this system's power supply with an EVGA GTX 1060 3GB adequate?
