Have made quite a few transactions over the past two months. Reminding everyone that only about half of them were tracked.
In my calculation that means you need to deduct the success rate for TopCashback.

    • +3

True. Two of three amazon orders were not tracked in my case.

    • They do this thing where after you open an investigation with the retailer, they offer a "settlement" amount. So you have to choose to settle for this or wait indefinitely for the actually cashback to credit.

    • Second this. Only half is tracked.

I made 3 from Giftz in the past 6 weeks and another 3 from other sites and TCB tracked them all.
You do need to accept cookies when it pops up on Giftz though. Only a few retailers do this but if you dont accept it, it wont track.

I haven't had issues with tracking with TopCashback for at least a year now. I find opening up an extension-free incognito window and log into everything from scratch - accepting all cookies etc works every time. Ad-blockers and other cashback extensions can mess things up.

  • I'm looking to get some eBay vouchers to buy an iPad.. Bit confused here.. Should I buy eBay cards directly or get Ultimate cards and use on JB HiFi? Can I use these Ultimate Cards online when I do a JB HiFi price match.. Thank You.

    • yes you can use giftcards when price matching

    • Get gift cards you can use at Officeworks where they’ll price beat, not match

      • Any of these can use to buy gift cards (Myer) at Coles?

  • My amazon gift card also not trace, raise the ticket for more than a month nothing happen.

    • +1

Same here, bought 2x Amazon gift cards (separate transactions for both) via Giftz close to 2 months ago, lodged claims a month and a half ago and they're both still in "Waiting for Retailer" status.

Guess I'll be contacting TA about this soon to hopefully get these sorted out.

  • My ultimate gift card not trace, raise the ticket for more than a month nothing happen.

Tracked Giftz card for eBay for a large purchase, no issues for me. Unsure what others are doing differently, but all I did was to open Chrome mobile browser, close all tabs, go to the TopCashback website and then search for Giftz and proceed from there.

  • I've found the bigger amounts don't track. But if you factor in the ones that dont track, it still ends up better for Amazon than just a flat 3%.

Has anyone had any success with lodging a claim?

  • Just bought eBay gift cards, tracked within the hour.

    • I have found tracking isn't an issue, but 2 months later and still pending is a bit annoying.
Will wait for those to clear (apparently 12 weeks - so 4 weeks to go) then probably not use TopCashback again.

Wow 12 weeks for a Gift Card? Does not make sense. Don't think Gift Cards can be returned within 12 weeks like other purchases so why the long wait period? Hope TCB can get their own GC portal very soon.

    When does this deal expire?

  • Looks like the same deal as before. Giftz just disappeared from TCB for about 2 weeks so was marked as expired but came back.

  • Is the cashback on gift cards ex GST?

    • +1

Dont think so, at least it doesnt appear so on ebay GC.

    • Afaik gift cards are exempt from GST.

Otherwise either the GST would end up being 20% in total or purchases using them would need to be made GST free.

      Update: https://taxed.com.au/vouchers-to-staff/

Essentially, a voucher is not subject to GST when sold where the following conditions exist:
      -the voucher has a monetary value stated on it;
-he amount paid for the voucher does not exceed the monetary value stated on it; and
-when the voucher is redeemed the holder is entitled to supplies up to the stated monetary value of the voucher.
The ruling refers to these types of vouchers as a ‘face value voucher’.

In simple terms, where a person goes into a store and buys a face value voucher, that sale will not be subject to GST. Again, in simple terms (and for the purposes of this article), all ‘other vouchers’ would be subject to GST.

Therefore, where an employer buys vouchers/gift cards which are face value vouchers with the intention of providing them to staff, as such vouchers are not subject to GST the employer is not entitled to claim any GST credits for the acquisition. The GST treatment may also be important from an FBT perspective (see comments below regarding Type 1 and Type 2 benefits).

There is no dollar limit from a GST perspective. So, whether the voucher/gift card is for $100, $250 or $1,000 the same GST treatment applies.

By way of summary, from a GST perspective:
      face value vouchers are not subject to GST;
all other vouchers are (assumed to be) subject to GST.

  • Was trying to buy an eBay Gift Card and was seeing Transaction Declines from the last few hours.. Tried CC, PayPal and a Debit Card without any luck. Any Idea?

CC says all good on their website

    • Did you find any solution?

      • Nope…

    • Check your credit card/paypal to see if any amount "pending". I had the same issue https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/15334489/redir

      • Do you mean TC email address? 😆

        • +1

          Yep :)

    • +1

Hi. This should certainly not be the case and I can only put it down to a glitch of some sort, unless your cashback is from an accommodation booking that was only recently consumed. Anyway, please message me your TCB email address and I’ll escalate to the team on Monday UK time. Appreciate your patience. Thank you.

Tried a few times to buy eBay GC with different credit cards via Paypal but kept getting…
    Payment Error: Close
Transaction declined. Please contact your Bank or use another card.

I gave up then went to check on my emails later and saw Paypal's email "You authorised a payment of $XXX to Blackhawk Network (Australia) Pty Ltd" for each of my attempt (XXX is the amount I tried to pay). Went to check my bank account and saw these amounts "pending" in my credit card but no gift card email or in my Giftz a/c. WTF :-(

  • Tried twice with Amazon GC.
    All tracked - no problems.

  • Are these special higher cashback rates?
    Or are these ongoing?

How long does it take to track? I made two purchase Friday night.

    • All mine have tracked within 1-12 hours. Did you accept cookies when the pop up showed up?

      • Yep, this is done via the topcash all on the iPhone. Amazon tracked ok just not gift card.
It says up to 7 days in the faq.

    • All tracked within few hrs.

  • If anyone made a purchase before 18/4/24 that tracked, has it changed to payable? Almost 13 weeks and still on pending here.
@tightarse any reason why it takes so long?
