Samsung buds pro 2 cheaper on amazon $194.82

    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0B8MQDJP2/ref=ppx_od_d…

    • you beaaauuuuty : D

Thanks to the OP as well : )

      • I got it for $169 from JB. They price matched MyDeal

    • +8

Looks like they are still $169 at MyDeal as well.

      • +1

Those are imports but work fine

        • +8

I price matched MyDeal at JbHiFi chat

          • @quiteguy: Did you price match the samsung buds 2 pro priced at $169 at mydeal? I tried just now and they asked for link and then told me the item is imported variant hence not the same so they wont price match.

      • And also you get 10$ new user bonus plus 18% Cashback with ShopBack….

  • Can we PB with OW for the Pixel Buds?

    • Nah, not with Optus deals

  • +2

    Also pixel stand 2gen $70 https://www.accessories.optus.com.au/p/83b79a9f-4a9e-4b96-b0…
    Not the cheapest (was $60)

    • That was like a year ago, though.

      • Yes, that's why I feel 70 is not too bad.

  • +3

Unreal price for the pixel buds pro. Been using mine daily now for over a year and paid a lot more than $150. Can't compare to the <$50 no name buds i used to find on ozb. Great for phone calls, even in noisy/windy areas.

    • Don't love the audio quality personally.

I found my thought lost jabra e7 pros and they are a better all rounder but people find it hard to hear me in it.

    • How do they sit in your ears? Would they fall out on a bike?

      • I have also been using the pixel bud’s pro for a while and find them great. I like the sound quality (has a little more base in music, but not over the top).

I go running with them in and have never felt like they would fall out. I use the largest tips and I make sure to slightly twist them after putting them in my ears.

I guess it does really depend on the shape of your ears however.

      • I really liked them but with my small ear canals the (profanity) just wouldn't stay in. they are quite top heavy with that chunky casing that sits outside the ear and there's no wings or anything to help keeps them still on the outside of the ear. Really depends on the shape of your ear though, they are great for some people. The 2nd Gen Pixel Buds were perfect for me, but they changed the shape unfortunately.

Optus is never receiving a cent from me ever again. From being a customer to working for them for years I know exactly the type of company they are. Fake, full of fluff and love to do everything on the cheap and market it as innovative. Awful people, management and putting an ex corrupted politician in their leadership team was the cream on top of the cake.

As an owner of the Google buds though, good value :)

    • +2

you're not wrong I got treated like shit and that's a customer not a staff. I think it is quite a general consensus that Optus is lousy in both service and offerings

    • I have no love for Optus, but pretty sure their current boss came from CBA.

      • Gladys Berejiklian is an exec for Optus. chedmania said "in their leadership" not CEO

    • +4

A friend of mine was offered a relatively high paying senior DevOps engineer job at Optus last year. They treated him like shit and made him work like a dog at wee hours of the night. His manager was a regular pub visitor during lunch hours and wouldn't support him. He recently resigned without a job and then took a 40k paycut to join another company. Hes much happier.

      • I'm glad too hear your friend is much happier :) I also was pretty glad when I handed in my resignation.

    • Most politicians, when leaving office, become industry leaders because they have connections and know how to get stuff done with minimal effort.

    • Will never, ever, e.v.e.r, sign up for any kind of plan with Optus.

Cheap earbuds though… Different story ;)

How do the buds pro compare to Sony's WF5's or similar premium in-ears? Anyone have both?

    • +2

if you like harman target, go with samsung. if you're particularly sensitive to treble, go with sony.

  • now this after I got the jabra elite 10 at JB perky days and still costs a moza at $206 too late JB does not take returns that are open and faultless
I did not like the fit of the elite 10 but too late

  • Urgh, should've bought the PBP at JB last month (i have lots of gift cards left…)

  • +3

Picked up the google pixel buds pro from jb for $150

Terrific value for money and prefer them over the xm4's that I had previously due to lighter weight

    • Did you just walk in and get them to price match Optus? Tempted to get a set. Have been using Pixel Buds Pro 2 for a few years, but the mic on them has died. Also switched from Samsung to PIxel recently too.

      • *sorry did this last week.

Is there an advantage to using these with a (recent) Pixel, as opposed to any other phone?

    • -1

I would say compatibility would be better, not to say it won't work with others but should not be any issues with a pixel

      • -1

They use Bluetooth, how exactly are they more compatible? For example, Galaxy Buds 2 Pro have better sound quality / resolution with Galaxy devices as well as multipoint, but I'm not seeing any such advantages of using these with a Pixel.

        • -1

Both are google products…. You think they wouldn't go for compatibility of their own devices? The earbuds have more functionality than just connecting via Bluetooth, not hard to understand.

    • +2

Install an app with other Android phones, with pixel it has the settings natively

    • +1

With a Pixel 6 or newer you can use Spatial Audio, but is apparently just a gimmick:

      https://9to5google.com/2023/03/08/pixel-buds-pro-head-tracki…

I'm on a Pixel 3 so can't try it. All the other functionality (ANC, dual pairing, etc) is built in to the pods. All the pixel android app does is let you change what the controls do (tapping the earbuds) and update the firmware, which in the 12 months I've had mine I've never used.

      • That's actually very helpful, thanks! Too bad there isn't anything of value to entice a Pixel user over any other earbuds, but their redeeming quality seems to be multipoint, especially at this price point.

  • +1

If you have small ears i wouldn't bother with these. They do not sit well in the ear, and really need a wing tips to hold them in place. They work great if you don't need to move. Although there are custom 3d printed wingtips you can get online.

    • +1

AGREED! Welcome to the small ear club.

    • Today I found out I have small ears… Where can I get some wings in Australia cheap?

  • Do they work well in noisy outdoor conditions? Other party can hear you clearly? Im having trouble using apple airpods on my Samsung phone when used in outdoors like public transport etc, my voice is barely audible to the other party.

Any experience's with either pixel pro or samsung buds 2 pro?

    • +2

Reviews seem to vary but I tried the Buds2 Pro, Pixel Buds Pro and the Nothing Ear (2). Unfortunately they all have pros and cons but for my ear comfort and call quality, surprisingly the Nothing Ear (2) works best for me. The noise cancellation when listening to music is the worst of the three though and the case is larger compared to the others as well. The Pixel Buds Pro were the next best in terms of call quality for me and it blocks out quite a lot of wind/road noise etc. However, for music, I found Samsung to be the best. Just my experience..

    • +1

Pixel bud (non pro) is aweful for noisy conditions. My $25 Tozo is better!

  • Anyone compared the Pixel Buds to the Galaxy Buds FE? Love the Galaxys but can always justify another set of wireless buds, especially if they do something better.

Buds 3 will come with 3 buds.

  • JB HiFi price matched the pixel budsd pro for me nice and easy, picking up shortly.

    • Did ya use your $10 perks voucher

      • +1

Nope, I am not a good ozbargainer and do not have JB perks because I forget to sign up for it when I buy something online.

        • +1

          :(

  • Wow you get the priviledge of paying $25 more than you'd get them on Amazon for. What a bargain!

  • +1

Love my pixel bud pros for work calls. I can have screaming kids in the background but it only picks up my voice. Same as when you're in the office next to someone in the same call they don't echo through your mic.

  • Anyone use these for gym? I currently have been rocking my pixel-bud a's since release and one of them is not charging correctly. They're great. Was wondering about the sound quality for music as I like it a lil bassy, not earth shattering but soul touching .

    • +1

I got it last week for Gym and Flight use, coz the bose QC over ear phones were just being slightly inconvenient for both use.
The buds are quite good for Gym use, they work great with my pixel 8 and stay snug in my ear. There are quite a few people who reported that they have fit issues, but I do my workouts with zero issues.
Just keep in mind the sound and anc is only slightly above average , but for limited purpose use, the buds at this price is amazing.

  • +1

I’m not an audiophile but love great sound for listening to music. Curious how do these compare to Bose Quietcomfort ultra earbuds. I know Bose is known as premium but anyone has actually used both and can compare? $150 is very tempting compared to Bose ultra for $371 in Amazon.
    Thanks 🙏

  • Got denied a price match in store at JB for the Pixel Buds as the price was so different. Might be better off trying online chat before going in store.

  • Got my pixel bug A for $20. Not sure if I need an upgrade.

  • Tempted to buy but dont want to get the poor fitting that many complain of with these.

  • +2

Just did an online price match with JB for the Pixel buds no issues!

    • Yeah I ended up doing the same. No probs at all

  • Got mine from OW price beat

  • I love my Google Pixel Buds Pro. Unfortunately, I lost my left bud. Can't pair with only 1 bud.
I plan to buy a new set right after this financial year. Hope this deal still exists.

  • +2

Thanks OP, bought the Google buds pro, and they sent me sent 2. $75 bucks a pop, not bad!

  • Just price matched the Pixel buds in JB ($150) be aware though that they will only price match if Optus have them in stock, and stocks are getting low.
