Netflix Basic Plan INR₹199 (~A$3.68), Premium INR₹649 (~A$11.50) @ Netflix India (VPN to India Required)

1904

My Turkey subscription broke when my CC expired previously so I have been holding off on buying till now.

I managed to get it to work with Nord via India.

The process is:

  • Wait for your plan to cancel (I don't know if it will work on existing plans)
  • Stay OFF the VPN
  • Sign in to netflix.com
  • Connect to the VPN
  • Go to the renewal page
  • Subscribe to India prices.
Pricing
  • Mobile Plan ₹149 (~A$ 2.75)
  • Basic Plan ₹199 (~A$ 3.68)
  • Standard Plan ₹499 (~A$ 9.22)
  • Premium Plan ₹649 (~A$ 11.50)

I've had my plan back on for about two weeks now and it seems to be working.

I'm sure I'll need to update this post with other info as you all comment and tell me everything I didn't know or factor into this.

I just used Stremio and RD … Stopped bothering with Netflix once they kicked me off.. saved me a good $10 a month

    • +2

Agree, Stremio with RD and Torrentio is a significantly cheaper option.

  • +3

Not that i condone people circumventing geoblocks I don't blame them. I was an avid Netflix user who happily paid for their top tier account in Australia and shared the account with siblings. It was win, win for everyone. Then they stopped that and it got to a point where i couldn't even watch in my own home because it thought I wasn't the home user constantly even after sharing was stopped. I moved over to Stremio and couldn't be happier, no nagging messages, cheaper, more content. I would of been happy to keep paying Netflix but it seems they weren't interested in taking my money. Now that i've left I get emails weekly enticing me back. lol

    Good riddance.

Let's see how things go, I'm still in Turkey using gift cards. Let's hope they don't cancel while I still have credit…

  • Out of topic am doing password sharing with friend
How to fix “ Your TV is not part of the Netflix Household for this account” any work around rather connecting to same wifi ?

    • +2

From what i've read here, Apple tv boxes aren't affected.

    • u need to install/use a proxy server so that both of you appear to Netflix as being on the same network/wifi. google it.

  • luckily im still paying using turkish netlfix gift card, 177 TL or ~8.24 aud/mth for standard plan

  • My Nigeria account is banned this morning so, just moved to India. Fingers cross

  • Hi, so once you have installed everything (streaming/db, torrent etc) paid ya $1 week, what does that do?you can watch anything online?do you need HDD to store or online viewing?can you watch latest nf, Stan, d+, paramount shows?thanks

    • +1

As far as I understand, Stremio streams the content (if used with RD and Torrentio). It does not store it locally, so you don't need a HDD. I've had this setup since the last couple of months and it has been working pretty well. I can stream 4K content in lossless audio (I've got an Nvidia Shield Pro 2019).

  • I have been on this Indian plan for 3 months now. I do not need VPN for viewing, just signing up.
Any one I am sharing my account with does not get the sharing warning.
The problem I face is that they charge me first month when I add the card and for the next month, they send me a mail saying that "Your payment didn’t go through".
I have to re-add the same card and it works. I am using CBA debit card.
My VPN sometimes does work for India and then when it doesn't work, I have to contact my colleagues in our Indian branch office to help out. I remote into their system and signup again.

    • same for me with the payment issue, need to enter card details once a month
but seems still working so far (also for 3 months)

If you want cheap Netflix but don't want the rigmarole of getting an overseas account, another option is to purchase a profile/slot in a shared account from GamsGo. One profile is AU$5.65/month. They also have a few other streamers available like Disney+ and Paramount+, and O365, Youtube Premium etc.

    https://www.gamsgo.com/

    • How does that work?

      • +2

They buy premium accounts and resell the individual profiles/slots.

So you are sharing the account with random people. Most users stick to their own profile, but if any of them try using yours just put a PIN on it.

Occasionally you might get the "This TV isn't part of household" message, but there's a simple 1 minute workaround with passkeys. They have easy to follow instructions on their site.

Minimum subscription is 3 months which works out at $5.98/month. 12 months sub for $5.62/month.

        • Another vote for gamsgo, I have used them for a Disney plus shared sub before and had no issues for the duration.

        • If you look closely Netflix doesn't work with tv so it's no different than setting it up yourself.

          • @treeman: I don't understand what you mean; Netflix doesn't work with TV? It does.

            • @sav11: If you have a look it says that the subscription works on laptops, tablets, mobiles, xbox and playstation. Not TV. Whereas when you check with other subscription services it says it does work with TV.

Most people use their TVs to watch netflix. Without it, it makes it very frustrating.

              • @treeman: No it doesn't. It says it works on TV's too, you can use it on any device. Just you're restricted to stream it on one device only.

Anyway it looks like they've removed Netflix from their page for now, so it's a mute point at the moment.

Mine is still working perfectly on my NVIDIA Shield TV Pro.

              • +1

@treeman: I believe the reason is because Netflix introduce the concept of "household"
a Netflix account is for use by one household only

And by means, household usually means users that connected via a TV client (eg. Netflix app from TV OS, Apple TV, Google TV etc.)
So when 1 user in the account has used a TV client to connect to Netflix, that ip location will be treated as "primary location"

and when 2 user from another ip address also connected via a TV, netflix will temporary allowing for short stream, and may request a email verification to confirm the user, or simply block the 2nd user by prompting "You are not in the same household"

This restrictions looks like only apply to TV clients previously, so watching netflix via computer or mobile devices will not have the "household" restriction
However, some people starting to report they get similar errors in mobile apps recently too

                • @littlesoldier: Yes that's right so essentially you can just do it yourself.

                • @littlesoldier: That's exactly right. It works perfectly on TV's and any other device. I've been using it on my TV the whole time.

They have a simple instruction on their website to workaround when you get the "looks like this TV/device is not part of the household" message, which takes about 30 seconds to do. They're making use of an API and/or background script to display the confirmation link sent to the primary account email address on your own subscription page when logged into their website. So no you can't "just do it yourself".

@treeman is making wrong assumptions based on his/her own misinterpretation of the website.

    • Is it still working? I see they remove Netflix from their website.

      • It's still working but yeah they've removed Netflix from their front page so looks like they're not offering it to new customers at the moment.

    • oh wow, this is interesting… would gamsgo be breaching major online stream platforms?
I wonder how long they will last to operate.

I wonder if you VPN to other country to join gamsgo, you'll get cheaper price :p

      Thank you though! nice concept!

      • +1

What they're doing would be breaching various services TOS for sure.

No idea how long they'll last. They do have a solid service with responsive support and comprehensive guides/info on their site. They quickly implemented an elegant workaround for the Netflix "this TV isn't part of your household" problem. But yeah they could get shutdown at any time potentially, it would be a risk to have a few services prepaid on there.

LOL nice try but their pricing is set, not location based. You can use VPN's to manipulate what content you see on services you subscribe through them though.

You're welcome. I sail the high seas and have a Plex server, had a Turkish Netflix account shutdown then changed to Gamsgo, have shared accounts at times, and have a Real Debrid sub setup with Torrentio on Stremio. Ethics aside if you don't want to download yourself TBH I think the best service and best value for streaming is Real Debrid. Also less likely to get shutdown IMO. For ~$26/six months you get 90% of the content from everywhere, excepting some old and niche and regional stuff. The only reason I also use Gamsgo is the Netflix algorithm is unparalleled, for me, for finding new content I'll enjoy.

  • +3

No thanks Netflix. You already messed me around and cancelled my Nigerian subscription. I just used Stremio with realdebrid and love it. Not going back to them.

  • +2

My Netflix Nigeria is still working at ~$4.50/month for premium

Edit: nvm it was cancelled this morning

  • In today!!!

    Out the next day!!!

  • Anyone got similar for Spotify…seems every month they put it up a dollar !

  • Whatever happened to everyone cancelling their netflix after they blocked password sharing?

  • my Kenyan acct just gotten cancelled today after 5 months. I do realise that ( and i am sure it have been discussed) that I am paying $12 for kenyan Netflix and it is $16 for AGL netflix. I used AGL so I just switched over and save me from the headache $4 cause.

  • +3

Do you really need Netflix though? Like there is enough trash TV/Movies in the world and Netflix is one of the worst offenders for pumping out utter garbage, do you really want to fund that in any way? I don't know how anyone has so much spare time to watch that amount of crap to justify for paying for 2-3+ streaming services.

    • Nvidea shield with film plus and bee tv apps and you’re good to go streaming almost anything you can think of for free.

  • Lmaooo perfect

  • +2

As others have said, Stremio + RD is the way.

    • +1

As others have said, Stremio + RD is the way.

But no Korean and Japanese Drama

  • +1

They cancelled my turkey account without any notice, and now they are sending emails begging me to come back.

  • I had it for about 2 months via surfshark VPN, my cousin also use same account in USA… but we always use VPN…. So far working for both of us…we watch on FIRE TV with locations turned off…

    • How do you turn locations off on Fire TV?

  • So Netflix is $18.99 a month standard 1080p without adds or $7.99 with adds. Big difference but what I wanna know is how many adds do you get and are they before your show / movie starts or in between?

Are the adds of Netflix shows / movies or random crap like you see on FTA?

  • +2

F@@@ Netflix after all the cancellations

    Real Debrid is your friend

    • How much is Real Debrid?

      • Just signed up euro 9 for 90 days.

  • +2

Them cancelling my Turkish subscription was a blessing. Transitioned totally to Stremio + Real Debrid. I had those already with Netflix but kept it going.

Their loss really, they don't get anything now from me.

    • How to set this up ?

      • +1

Takes 15 minutes max. I suggest searching on Reddit. I don't think I can post instructions here.

      • See upthread

    • +1

But no Korean and Japanese Drama

      • +1

It has everything. It's basically all torrents streamed or premium links with Real Debrid all within a Netflix style UI

        • I use Stremio cannot find all the Korean and Japanese drama like Netflix, I think RD only will stream it faster but the same content, right?

          • @superforever: Give me an example of a Korean or Japanese drama and I can see if I can find it for you on Stremio. I would be surprised if it is on Netflix but not on Stremio. If you can't find links that might be because you don't have RD.

RD provides premium torrent and private links that aren't available to non RD users. Basically no buffering, and greater chance for 4K and older content to have working links

            • @Lucille Bluth: I just tried search for Korean drama or k drama from Stremio, not much came up, may be I have to google what I want to watch first and search it from Stremio.

RD provides premium torrent and private links that aren't available to non RD users

So the content was not the same as normal Stremio user, right?

              • @superforever: Correct. You have more access to better links. And for rarer shows too.

If something is available on Netflix it will be on Stremio. At the very least the name of show would appear because they are fed artwork and names of shows from IMDB or something. It will even tell you is available on Netflix and you can press a button and it will open Netflix.

                • @Lucille Bluth:

Correct. You have more access to better links. And for rarer shows too.

Just setup, very smooth, just Cyberflix some shows didn't show and some series didn't have stream.

Like Queen of Tears didn't come up but I can search it manually.

And like Apple TV Plus Dark Matter didn't come up from Cyberflix.

              • @superforever: I just scrolled further down on my home, usually it loops back to the top after the Rd downloads thing but this time it loaded a lot of new categories like Amazon, Disney, anime, and Asian. Must be a new feature. Pretty stoked, will make browsing much easier!

      • I just watched Queen of Tears on it (even though I have Netflix lol), the dramas are there but the thing with this is you have to sort of know what you are looking for as you can't search by genre.

If you are more tech savvy then you can set up Kodi, it's a lot more customisable and works better (you can have play next episode, languages, genres etc) but it's a PITA when the repo gets discontinued

Edit: just searched an older kdrama i wanted to watch, had 2 files but no seeders so can't watch :( so for the more popular ones only

      • I like viki (and it's cheaper than netflix at $7 a month) so I subscribe to that periodically to catch up on the dramas from them, then cancel and switch over to https://dramacool.bg/ whenever I don't feel like paying Netflix/Disney/Amazon.

It's a bit more awkward to download the shows from them and put them on plex, but it is free and allows streaming on my various devices. Depends on the level of effort you want to put into getting free content, I guess.

Also I highly recommend Lovely Runner on viki. Just finished it and it was FANTASTIC.

        • https://dramacool.bg/ whenever I don't feel like paying Netflix/Disney/Amazon.

I think you can setup Dramacool on Kodi but my problem is subtitle.

    • +1

      Same here.

Netflix cutting me off finally pushed me to building my own Jellyfin server with Sonarr and Radarr. Using my existing 4TB HDD with a low-powered i5 7th gen USFF PC off eBay for like $120 and things are so nice.

An alternative setup that I've also tested and confirm working nicely:
    - Oracle Free tier, one instance for sonarr + radarr + qbittorrent + vpn, one instance for Jellyfin
    - Use rsync to mount an encrypted vault on a 2TB Google Drive plan through Turkish VPN for like $22/year

The learning curve can be steep if you're new to Unix systems, but well worth it. Being an SRE helped me immensely lol.

  • +3

+1 for Stremio + Real Debrid.

  • +1

Changed over to Stremio+RD last month and haven't looked back

  • Sorry this might be a stupid question here but I really don't know: is the price in title for monthly or annually? Thanks.

  • Question for people using Stremio+Rd - Can you access latest movies in other languages as well? Like Asian, Bollywood, etc.
Is it like kodi, keep looking for working link or you almost find what you want in a minute?
Can someone please share guide for seting up Stremio+RD

    • +1

Yes I have a fusion add-on as well for Asian/Bollywood stuff. It's more like Netflix than kodi with a search feature that works perfectly, can also browse content via source e.g. Netflix, Disney, paramoun, apple tv etc, it's internal video player is the Kodi bit. Google Stremio guide reddit

      • Yes I have a fusion add-on as well for Asian

        Korean and Japanese?

  • -1

Thanks for the heads up, havn't used Netflix in over a year and had to make a New Account 🤗.

I can confirm its working on my end 👍
I'm too scared to say which card or vpn I'm using in case they block it off 🤣

  • +3

After they cancelled me I haven't bothered. I will stick to streamio now. Stuff em.

  • +3

Streamio + real Debrid is cheaper and has all content not limited to a single streaming platform. Also 4k remux's ready to stream which isn't possible on Netflix etc.

    • Is it per device or can you stream on multiple?

      • You can stream multiple in the same household/ip. Haven't really tried streaming while commuting but I'm sure that's fine.

        • So it won't work if you shared with others not from the same household?

          • +1

@nightelves: Correct. They need their own real debrid account. Less than $5 a month so it’s hard to say that’s unreasonable. Basically designed to use on 1 public IP at a time. Use on more than one and they will close your account.

            • @dwhes: Are you it is 1 public IP at a time? If I am using on mobile while travelling, there is no risk if no one using at home?

              • @amsaini15: Yes you can read their terms and conditions. 1 public facing IP at a time. So if you’re travelling and using it but no one at home is, then you will be fine.

  • don't even try it they will eventually will put a block on it and we will have to go back again

  • Dumb question but i can do VPN on my computer/ mobile but do i need one on the TV? #askingforafriend

  • The issue i had with this is Netflix canned my subscription when i was using Turkey. I resigned up again and they accepted it, but a few days later they canned it again, after taking my money. Fair play.
So now i am paying AUD which is annoying.
Any others have this experience ?

    • Some said only works with gift card, CC won't work anymore.

    • Were you doing the gift card method when they cancelled?

  • +1

Already have Stremio going but kept my Netflix up since my sister shares her Disney with me, finally have an excuse to cancel when they implemented the household thing

  • Regarding Stremio + RD, is it better remove all other add-on and only configure Torrentio?

  • They might allow you for a month at max

  • Just got email offering 2x Full HD basic in Aus for $7.99 per month which is cheaper than India

  • Using Indian Netflix since long time, even amazon prime.

  • When i got the household message, I signed out and cancelled. Initially I felt I missed Netflix, but soon realised, It was just mindlessly browsing the Catalog that I missed, there was hardly anything to watch anyway. It's been a month now and I've used that time productively.

I just don't get people competing to pay money to Netflix jumping thru hoops. No you don't have to pirate if you feel uncomfortable, just don't watch it. The business model is the same for all of them, Initially Netflix actively encouraged people to share their password and when they got people hooked, they started upping the prices, they will continue to do so. The only way out is to stop giving them your money, stop watching, use other ways to become productive. Go out, read books, watch YouTube.

  • Hey guys, do you have to use Stremio+Rd on VPN or you can use without? Is it risky using without?
I have settled up Stremio on firestick. Again do I need VPN always to use?

    • +3

Not risky - it's all cached through RD. No need for VPN

  • Won't accept ANZ Card "There appears to be a problem with the payment method you are trying to use."
