  • Do these still break all the time like the Quest 2 Elite Straps?

    • +1

I couldnt tell you. I did buy the elite 3 battery strap when i got the quest 3 initially but returned it as i was having battery issues.
I have since then moved to BoboVR.
But saw that these dropped in price a couple of days ago and thought it might be useful for someone after them.
In my experience, the quest 3 battery strap was quite comfortable. If i had not gotten the BoboVR, I would have bought it again now that the battery issue seems to have been fixed. YMMV

      • What’s your view on the comfort of BoboVR compared to elite strap?

I have the elite strap and am quite happy with it but I do keep looking at the BoboVR and wonder if it’s better comfort.

I use my quest 3 for Supernatural/ Fit XR mainly (in case that’d influence your answer)

        Cheers.

  • For anyone looking at the facial interface, I would highly recommend the following deal over the blue mesh interface, unless that is what you are after:

    • yeah I posted that because it’s the first price drop I have ever seen.

tbh if I paid $800 for a headset I wouldn’t risk breaking the plastic on the headset where it clips in by using a 3rd party interface.
actually first I would do my best to use the interface that came with it because it’s part of the price.

      Agreed!

    • What's the new one? Or do you mean the M3?

I got the S3 Pro and its definitely a worthy upgrade

  • Any chance the quest 3 itself will be discounted before black friday?

I might be wrong but I think the meta Battery head strap for Q3 was recalled?

I think it didn’t work too well for those who bought on launch.

but if they are still selling it it might be new fixed stock?? I dunno probably good idea to do some quick research.

      Hi seamonkey,

We are reaching out to let you know we are voluntarily replacing select Meta Quest 3 Elite Straps with Battery.

We are aware that a limited number of these straps were not being detected by Meta Quest 3 headsets or losing connection and not charging the headsets. Even if your Elite Strap with Battery is functioning without any issues, we would still like to offer you a new and updated Elite Strap with Battery replacement to help you have the best ongoing experience.

Click here to check if your accessory is impacted and order a replacement, at no cost to you.

If you have trouble accessing or completing the form, please contact us.

      Thank you,

      The Meta Store support team

      • I believe these might be the fixed versions as Amazon pulled all stock when the battery issue was happening. But YMMV

        • Yeah I'd be very confident. Meta actually managed the whole situation very well, communication with any resellers was apparently excellent. I'm confident all the dodgy stuff is gone. It's all serial number based anyway, so I have no doubt if you were to receive the wrong serial, Meta would stand behind it. I complained in the early days, they replaced it immediately, didn't ask me to return the original, then they sent the email above and sent me a further one, again, no money or old items changed hands. So, indeed, I'd have 3, I paid for 1. 2 of the 3 would be perfect and the 3 one I wouldn't be surprised if it's perfect now since the latest quest updates.

just get AMVR and bobovr s3 you are all set, nothing else even come remotely close in terms of comfort.

    • I have been considering the AMVR with my S3. Does the S3 blow into the vents of the AMVR?

      • They aren't a perfect fit (the S3 misses the inlet vents of the AMVR, largely), but they do work together - at least for me!

        • In your experience, would you say it helps with fogging and sweat. those 2 seem to be my biggest issues

          • +1

@bonechiller: I still get some cooling from the fan (though not a huge amount).

Best things I've found for sweat are headbands (tennis style bandanas work well) from Alibaba. I also like to use wrist pads to keep my controllers a lot drier when I get sweaty. These will wick sweat away before they get into the expensive electronics (with the added bonus of stopping pleather pads from sticking to your skin!).

I haven't had a lot of problems with fogging myself? I use some of the Zenni prescription inserts on mine though FWIW.

  • Even 50% off they are super overpriced and low quality compared to the third party products.

Just wonder whats taking BoboVR so long to release a new carrying case C3 or whatever as the C2 is made for the Quest 2 =\

      • Oh shit I just looked the other day! Any discount codes for early preorders for it or anything?

        • Apparently not! They look pretty great to me, but I'm not sure I'd use one enough to justify the $95 with postage for it…

          • @encoderboy: Yeah true would be better to get a spare battery for that price unless you were planning to take it on holidays or something.

The desk mode is pretty cool since I just throw mine in a drawer and it slides around in there might also stop my controllers draining batteries by accidentally putting them down with the trigger depressed haha
