Just saw Dell's new "Business Basic" notebook "Vostro", which targets lower-end of business users, where as Latitude continues to focus on the higher end. Until 19 July there is a deal on Vostro 1400 notebook, where you can get a 1.6GHz Core 2 Duo for $1048 delivered, with the following spec:
- Core 2 Duo T5470 (1.66Ghz)
- 1GB DDR2 RAM
- 120GB 5400RPM Hard Disk
- 14.1" WXGA LCD monitor
- 8x Dual Layer DVD Burner
- Vista Home Basic
It offers pretty low entry to Core 2 Duo lappies. However when you add up all the options I reckon the new Inspiron 1420 is a better deal. However I'll go with the Vostro if the build quality is similar to Latitude.
Sweet deal, actually its entry for Santa rosa laptop, not actually core 2 duo
