      Fuiyohhh uncle is feeling bad…

    • +1

A wok-shaped watch is perfect for Uncle Roger. All he needs now is a watch-face with fried rice that moves with your wrist and flashes fire on the hour or when you tap it.

      • +3

Best watch to use Google Pay to buy MSG

  • +3

Just a heads up to anyone wanting to buy, there's potentially an issue with the adhesive that may cause the back to fall off during normal use. Just something to keep in mind!

    • Happened to mine. Luckily google sent out a new one

      • How long did you have the watch when it happened?

        • +1

a few months. got it from the last big deal on it. i think itll happen again but im not worried. google are fairly quick to send out a replacement. the annoying thing is getting TOLL to send it back. impossible to get TOLL on the phone to book an appointment

    • +6

Amazfit Bip has an adhesive issue where the front falls off ….

All round its just a sticky situation.

      • +8

Well the front’s not supposed to fall off, for a start.

        • It could fall off the back. All relative.

    • This happened to a fossil smart watch I had, they replaced it and it happened again… Thanks for sharing, I'll skip buying this then.

      • +1

prob better off with the samsung one, especially if you can find a cheap brand new one on marketplace. people get them for free with the phone and sell them off

  • +3

A battery thet can last up to 24 hrs? is it really a selling point so they advertise it?

    • +10

What about a worse 'watch' that is only advertised for 18 hours? https://www.apple.com/au/watch/battery/#:~:text=Our%20goal%2….

      • You know whenever I think about the pathetic number of hours smart watches last, I think about being trapped in a pitch black underground cave, waiting to be rescued, with my watch being the last source of light on me. It'd get dark really, really rapid won't it?

        • Sounds like a Garmin Fenix Solar is the right watch for you. As long as you can climb to the top of a tree and get some sunlight, you'll be keep the thing charged :)

      • +3

Requires an overnight charge, but also advertises sleep stage tracking?

      • +1

What’s worse Is most reviews say the Google Watch doesn’t even last as long as the Apple Watch.

  • +2

I've had the first version of the watch 1 and have to say its pretty good. Build quality is great, i play sports and lift weights with it on. I shower with it and its survived 2 years of wear. Battery is good, i get 1 plus days and always have notifications and always on display on. Mine is a Bluetooth only.

I wasn't bothered with the watch 2 as its only a sight improvement on the watch 1. Watch 3 will come out with a 41 and 45mm so I'll wait for that.

    • +4

Watch 2 is a major upgrade when it comes to the sensors. Watch 1 had poor accuracy. A smartwatch with inaccurate sensors is no good in my opinion. It can be had for much cheaper on marketplace or get Watch 2 for some more. Totally worth it in my opinion

    • Watch 2 is noticeably faster and much better battery life. Though, I only upgraded because I managed to kill my Watch 1…

    • Agree. Watch 1 is great. It was a bit of a mess at launch but they've optimised it a lot.

  • +1

    Upto 24 hours ?

    • +3

I've been using this watch since launch. It actually lasts two whole days for me, with "light" usage (ie. only really using it to check notifications as they come in, and tilt to wake).

      • Two days is not bad. Was thinking to replace my Huawei which still last 3-5 days easily.

    • 6 hours more than this watch (not the Ultra though): https://www.apple.com/au/watch/battery/

      • Apple could also say up to 24 hours. Doesn’t mean anything. My partner’s pixel watch barely lasted until the evening, where their previous Apple Watch would last until 10pm at the least.

  • I have this watch as well and it's been pretty good so far. Only thing is it has to be charged atleast once daily but for me it's not an issue at all as the charging speed is pretty fast.

  • +3

You can't reverse wireless charge using your pixel, their own charging dock sucks. Basically you have a dead watch on your wrist by COB everyday

    • Damn

    • +1

I've used mine daily for over a year. I charge it in the morning when I showed and dress so that's 20min every day and it hasn't died on me yet

      • That's impressive actually, may i know if you use sleep tracking?

        • Yes
And always on screen is set to off

    • my pxiel watch has never ran out of battery tho

  • If the store closes at 9PM and you place the order at 7.30PM for the 90min Uber, is it guaranteed to still come in 90mins?

  • Bit the bullet on this, will be my first wearable… always wanted a wallet on my wrist fouiyooo.

Got a $2 discount via price match thanks to @BargainsGrabber, -$10 with perks code, paid off rest with discounted gift cards

  • Battery life up to 24 hours is a deal breaker.

    • +1

itll last 2 days of light use. charging it for 10 mins is enough to get you through the day if need be.

      • I would suggest not to take this comment on face value. I dont know what light usage is but mine struggled to even finish the day and that is with cellular data off.

        • Ah I have the wifi version. With tap to wake I easily get two days. Tracking workouts seems to drain battery though, as well as screen usage

  • -5

    Not watch 2

    • +3

Correct, that's why the title says Pixel Watch 1

  • +2

So this has a 24 hour battery life and occasionally falls apart. I have a Versa 4 which I paid about the same for on sale and has a great battery life, seems to last around a week even with constant heavy use. But it constantly freezes. Not like daily but 1-2 times a week. I returned the original one i bought because of this issue and the replacement is worse for it. The plan is to return this one when something else comes on sale for a similar price, but what would I be looking for at around this price point on sale that isn't going to have another critical flaw?

  • For the price it's not bad. I got one at Christmas from Google when it was on sale for about the same price. I will say that it died about two weeks after I got it, after a very brief dip in a pool. Less than 30 cm down a minute or so, no splashing or pressing buttons whilst wet etc. I frankly never wear a watch swimming/showering but just forgot I had it on. Anyhow, a few minutes after getting out of the pool I glanced at the watch and it was dead. No sign of life at all. Google eventually replaced it, but it was a bit of a nightmare as apparently the watch they sent me wasn't the watch they had on record as having been sent to me, so said it was old and out of warranty. My guess is they accidentally sent me an early build watch with the loose back issue and water got in. Lesson learnt though - I make absolutely sure I don't get it wet.

Anyhow, other than that it's not bad. I charge it briefly at night before going to bed and again in the morning whilst having a shower etc. I miss my Withings that I only had to charge once a month, but then again this has a lot more features.

  • +2

I think it's better to pick up a secondhand Pixel watch 2 for ~$200-300.
There's quite a significant improvement between Pixel watch 1 vs Pixel watch 2

    • Also samsung watch is good

      • +2

samsung is NOT. They still have poorest accuracy in the smart watch world.

        • Accuracy? You mean for keeping time, or for fitness stuff like step counter or heart rate? Or something else?

          • +1

@klaw81: Fitness sensors - heart rate, sleep monitoring etc and their GPS. Look up the quantified scientist channel on youtube who does excellent reviews.

            • -3

@dealsucker: Very interesting - having said that, I would happily buy a smart watch without any fitness sensors if it was $50 cheaper. I only want rich notifications, NFC payments and app support - don't give a toss about anything else.

              • @klaw81: just don't monitor those things then it is like without having the sensors..
Also I think you might be able to turn those sensors off…

alot of smart watches including apple watch is marketing it use for health monitoring (including fall detection)..
if it was just purely for "rich notifications, NFC payments and app support"
then there is less reason for many people to buy it, since they can just use their phones which is much better and they are always carrying their phones with them..

like why would you want to also wear a smartwatch that does those things "rich notifications, NFC payments and app support" which your phone can do (and does better) but still requires you to carry your phone with you..
and then you also need to charge that watch daily along with your phone..

As you can see, that is why companies are adding even more health sensors into the smart watch (blood, spo2) etc
so that the smartwatch actually has some more functional use (rather than just being a crappy version of a phone that you wear on your wrist).

                • +1

                  @pinkybrain:

just don't monitor those things then it is like without having the sensors..

I'm stil paying for them….that's my gripe.

Also I think you might be able to turn those sensors off…

Disabling some features / permissions can help, but some of them simply can't be turned off.

why would you want to also wear a smartwatch that does those things "rich notifications, NFC payments and app support" which your phone can do (and does better) but still requires you to carry your phone with you

Because phones are less convenient - a watch is already where I can see it and take quick action if required. It's far less intrusive (and less rude) to quickly glance at your watch to see what you need to know, rather than taking your phone out of your pocket or bag.

I effectively use my watch like a remote control for my phone, and find it extremely convenient.

Don't get me wrong - I understand why other people want fitness sensors etc and I can see how they're useful. I'd just like to have a "no frills" option that didn't have all that stuff, at a reduced price and presumably longer battery life.

              • @klaw81: If this is the case, you don't want the pixel watch 1, the battery life is a day which is not great for a smart watch with below average sensor

        • samsung is NOT. They still have poorest accuracy in the smart watch world.

I automatically assume most smart watches are not that accurate anyway compared to actually purpose built devices…
The numbers measure are just used more as baseline to know how you are doing and where you may need to improve or to gamify your fitness.

Like are you going to stress if it is not measuring 10000 steps accurately?
Or the heart rate is not as accurate as a real heart rate strap on sensor?

If you need accuracy for real medical reasons then you get a dedicated device that was built to measure that purpose e.g. heartrate etc..

Here's a video showing how all of the devices (smartwatch and fitness trackers) are inaccurately in differently areas..
note : didn't realise till reading the comment but the Samsung mention is actually an older watch = 2014 Gear Sport Tizen, not the newer galaxy watches..

  • 179 was lowest. Hodl

  • +1

I had both the watch 1 and now I have the 2.
2 is worth the extra dollars imo (mainly beacuse of the better battery life). Just find a brand new or as new one on Markerplace for 250-300 max

    • Agree with this. That's what I did.
After watching quantified scientist channel on youtube, it was a no brainer.

  • Beautiful watch for ladies.

  • Looks like you should be able to price match on google store if you prefer - or get a partial refund if you purchased and still in warrantly.

Yup, price match was mentioned in the deal description above :)

Picked up the watch this morning from JB, honestly it's been pretty good so far!

Took a while to install all the updates, but is now running well… Notifications are great, even tried to answer some phone calls lol. Love how you call your phone from it (if you can't find it), and watch faces are full of customisation options.

I was quite worried about the sizing being so small, but honestly don't mind it (and may actually prefer it's minimalist look as opposed to bigger options).

Speed has been perfectly fine so far, not doing much fitness on it ATM, and haven't tested Google Pay yet…

    • Unless you play with it a lot and use it a lot for calling etc, it gets from morning to bedtime quite easily. Charge it overnight or if you want to use the sleep tracking, give it a booster charge before bed and then fully recharge it in the morning when you wake up. It doesnt take tha long.
Pixel watch 2 saves you the hassle a bit as it can get bedtime to bedtime (24 hrs) quite easily, but Pixel watch 1 other than that is pretty much the same thing.

  • K guys how can I return this 😭😭😭
