Posting deal not just because of the current promo, but recommending it for more long term use.
There are so many travel eSIMs out there, and it was great to try out previous 1GB free promos (now all expired I think) on Eskimo, Tel-U etc, but I've now settled on this as a set and forget option. For the others after the promos the rates were just not worth continued use, or they needed new eSIMs to be installed each time etc.

so for Australian $7.50 (USD5) get 1.25+5+3= USD9.25 of credit for your travel = 3.8 GB Europe data. Perfect for a trip to Europe.

Best features -

  1. NO expiry of data, and eSIM only needs to be installed once
  2. simple USD amount in account that can be used for roaming in all covered countries, no need to get new or different eSIMs each time you need to use.
  3. Very reasonable rates in Europe (USD2.45 per GB of data) and USA (USD3.25 per GB of data) for low volume travel data users, and just top up with USD 5 minimum whenever you need.

Main Cons -

  1. Still limited country coverage especially in Asia. eg. No current coverage Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, Hong Kong
  2. Beware of much higher roaming rates in some countries - eg Qatar USD 15.71 per GB. So check the cost for the countries you are visiting.

        Just came back from Thailand.
        Added the Roamless e-SIM to my iPhone before leaving Oz.
        But somehow I couldnt receive any SMS whilst away whereas last year I could.
        Not sure if the Roamless setup did this or whether Amaysim stopped this.
        I thought that its an Optus thing and that amaysim had no control over this.

        Anyone else on Amaysim had this issue with not receiving SMS whilst overseas recently?
        ie. Your Iphone shows "NO SERVICE"

        Trying to figure out if the Roamless e-SIM caused the issue because my iPhone showed NO SERVICE whilst my partner's iphone had local reception - she is on Coles mobile which is also on Optus.

          if travelling to Thailand you can get a local SIM at the airport loaded with:
          1GB data valid for 30 days for 100Bt (A$4.10).
          5GB data valid for 30 days for 200Bt (A$8.20) - more than enough for anyone!

          With all the free WiFi around that easily keeps you connected

          ALSO The Thais are big on Whatsapp so make sure you are registered before you leave

      They've just added Singapore among 95 new destinations. I suspect it covers the others above too. Announced via a notification from the app, so hard to find again once dismissed. Very useful for me.

      That's how I first found out about Roamless. But that's expired now.

      I still think that this is a great deal for travel to Europe. At least that's what I chose, ha ha.

      Basically AUD7.50 for 2 GB of data in Europe, and easy to top up for another 2 GB as needed with no expiry of credit/data.

        I think if someone it's willing to pay for GB, once you are at the country you can buy a local sim for cheap (depending on the country). I think EU has a law that you can use mobile data or calls within EU (I might be wrong, I think I read it somewhere).

          I know, that's what I used to do when I went on trips.
          Now I've realised that for me holiday time is the most precious, and don't want to muck around on arrival trying to find a local SIM card.

          I REALLY valued being able to just turn on my phone on arrival and being able to map where I want to go, book an Uber etc. after a long flight.

          Plus, the flight arrived at 6.30am when most shops were closed.

            @pencilman: You can get the same eSIM for much cheaper on different providers for much more GB. No mucking around, it’s the same thing and you can install the sim before you fly. No deal from me.

              I did try to look but couldn't any better or cheaper for a low volume data user (only need 2-3 GB of data for the trip).

              I did consider these but were more expensive.
              The cost on the deal I've posted is less than $10 for 3.8 GB of Europe data with NO expiry.

                @pencilman: Yeah if you really only need < 3GB I guess this deal is better. I rarely travel less than 1-2 weeks at least, and I am almost always looking for 5-10GB. At that much data, this deal is quite expensive.

                Also try esimdb dot com. They give out quite a lot of good breakdown of eSims, I’ve tried quite a few of the sims there. They’re all quite easy to install, just like this one.

    I can vouch for OP here. Used it on our last trip and came in very handy both in transit as well as holiday destination. Ended up recommending to many personally. You cant go wrong with this one.

    I sometimes also use it locally here in weak spots of telstra (not many but there are still). Very happy specially since its esim so doesnt bother my main physical sim hence perfect for backup.

    I'm looking at the site and it looks like the 1GB and 3GB prices are just extrapolated from the 500MB prices. So I'm assuming when it comes to using they just deduct in 500MB blocks at a time?

    Worked perfectly for me. $9.25usd in my account for $5.35usd spend. A lot cheaper than Eskimo which was $6usd for an extra 1GB (although they did give me 1GB bonus).

    But it's your main recommendation? For some of us like me that's exactly the countries we need unfortunately.

    If you're like me and need those countries I found Eskimo to be more suited.

      The Roamless web site seems to be doing 500Mb for new sign ups at the moment?

      Plus you can get $3 credit bonus if you use the referral code. You can use the referral links which is the fair way to do it.

      There's a use promo code in the app half a screen down on the right.

      The $3 only works if you also pay for some credit though it looks like.

    Protip: You can force this to telstra (or Optus) network in settings. By default it is Optus. (In Australia)
    A very cost effective way to have telstra network occasionally when you need it (no expiry)

    You can also force 3G only in the esim settings on new iphones that don't have it natively as an option anymore.

    Yeah I know these things are rare "wants" but for those that find themselves out travelling remotely can really benefit from dual phone service/forced 3G, at least while 3G is still around.

    The only comment I'd make is they are quite expensive in Canada. And some other places as well. So worth checking the rates where you're going.

    I can no longer update the post, but please note that Roamless now works on MANY more countries including most of the Asian ones like Singapore, China, Malaysia, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan etc.

    Check the rates though as the cost per GB varies for each country.

    Review from recent month overseas involving 10 Countries including Europe, UK, North Africa, Middle East, Philippines, and Singapore, and solely relying on Roamless eSim for data.

    Short version is that Roamless is great & I highly recommend it now to all my friends.

    Rates are very competitive, but the major advantage compared to most (if not all) other suppliers is that it never expires. So, if you buy 3Gb from another supplier at similar rates but only use 1Gb and it expires after 7 days (or so) you are actually paying much more per Gb used. This to me is huge.

    Also, the support is nothing short of amazing. The few times I emailed queries, I got an answer within minutes - even on a Sunday! I did find that when arriving in a new country (i.e. Tunis) I had to restart my phone to get the service to reconfigure properly, (which is the same for any eSim).

    … and no I am not in any way associated with Roamless.

    eSIM.io seems to be the same concept of credits that don't expire and it's PAYG. But they're cheaper than Roamless eg Italy $2.20 vs Roamless $2.45 pretty 1GB. They even offer the same sign-up offer of Add $20 to get $5 and also have a monthly dashboard showing usage. So all things equal eSIM.io is ahead.

      Actually Roamless is ahead on some fronts such as Hong Kong rate is $2.95 vs eSIM.io $3.90. Plus Roamless has a referral program.

      So I'd just switch between the two based on the cheapest PAYG rate.
