I'm quite excited about the coffee this deal marks the release of for three reasons:
1) It's the first Honey Processed coffee we've offered
2) It's the first coffee we've featured from India. Now I know you may be thinking, "India is known for their tea, but I didn't even know they grew coffee…" For a while know I've been on the look out for a special coffee to feature from India because it's the only origin left I haven't featured from those growing regions which helped shape my intrigue and passion for the coffee world in the early days. I'll try to explain without too much of a ramble. In the very early days when I was exploring the world of coffee I'd had number of filter and espresso coffees (from various regions) that made me think there was a special world within the coffee world that I needed to discover. However, when it came to milk based coffees, at that point I hadn't experienced anything I'd describe as an "eye opener moment" in that category, until I had a flat white using a coffee grown in India. I actually ordered it because I had the very though I assume some of you are having "I didn't even know coffee was grown in India." The flat white was something really special and I remember it to this day as it completed my circle of exploration before I was all in with finding our spot in the market. Yes, I have rambled, my apologies, but anyway I'm very happy I've found this delicious coffee from India to share you.
3) It's a Single Estate coffee

      It's just not financially viable to change the shipping, if it's of any comfort the $6.99 flat rate shipping is subsidised so on average shipping costs us more than we charge you. There's a few solutions if you're super keen on unlocking the free shipping (I know it's never fun paying shipping):

      1) Simply purchase 3kg of this India Single Estate coffee and freeze the extra as @HamesJoffman has wisely suggested

      or

      2) Get 1kg of the India and 1kg of our Moments to Memories blend, that was you order exactly 2kg and unlock free shipping at the same time :)

      Hey @listenam great news, I've got a couple of solutions for you:

      1) Order one of our other products which have enough availability to have pre-ground options

      2) As @HamesJoffman have very helpfully suggested, this may be the perfect time to take the plunge and get a hand grinder, it'll improve the flavour ten fold over pre-ground and open up the options for you, so you'll be able to enjoy special coffees with limited availability :)

        I do have a small coffe/spice grinder at home however I found consistency of the grind is not great and I get better coffe with grounded coffe.

          You are correct, blade grinders are notoriously bad for coffee. If you can afford it, for ($50 delivered) try something like this: https://www.amazon.com.au/KINGrinder-Adjustable-Aeropress-Co… it will be an order of magnitude improvement over blade ground.

          Edit: This grinder is not really suitable for espresso however.

          Keep an eye out for KinGrinder or 1zpresso deals. They're excellent hand grinders for the money. You'll be blown away by the difference it makes. As with almost anything in the culinary world, fresh is best.

      Hey @soan papdi appreciate the link share, you're spot on that coffee has been grown in India for quite a while!

      However, I believe if you ask the vast majority of coffee drinkers what counties come to mind that grow coffee I don't think India would be in the first ten countries that someone lists. Simply because it's not one of the main coffees seen around being featured as a Single Origin. It is a country on the move in terms of coffee, so they're hungry to grow they presence in the Specialty coffee world, so hopefully we'll see more coffees featured from India over time :)

      A request from a customer is never a hassle!

      However, from a tech and time perspective as we have different systems for different parts of the operations side of things to solve your query below are the list of easiest to trickiest things to achieve all via a reply email request to your existing order confirmation:

      1) If you want the India dispatched on 21/5 simply request we add 1kg to your existing order
      2) Place a new order for India to be dispatched on 21/5 and send an email request to change the dispatch date of your original order
      3) If you only want 1kg and only want it to be the India then just email a request to switch the original product order

      As mentioned above, no change it classified as a hassle for us when a customer requests it, there's just some changed that work better with the tech. Please proceed with whatever solution suits you best and don't base your decision on what the easier change for us to make :)

      It's terrific to know you "love" coffee from here and based on that I believe you'll hopefully love ours too. However, please note that Estate has a variety of different coffees. Even if you get the identical green/raw coffee, if two batches are roasted each with a different roast profile the flavour results can be notably different. Please keep in mind, although delicious, the coffee from us will likely taste different from the coffee from India you've had before :)

    @OP, mate, stop doing this. I exclusively buy from you. Love all your SO coffees. Between what's in my freezer and what's coming via delayed dispatched, I have about 7-8kgs. Now can't miss this one too. My wife is going to be pissed off with my chest freezer full of LB coffee. Also, I don't like ordering 1kg. I really know or understand the flavor on the 2nd pack with a rotation of another SO in between the two. Ordered 2 kgs. Now have a years supply. Please don't post any more deals now.

      Any tips on freezing? Do you just throw in the bag as is? Do they keep the freshness well?

        I let them breathe for about a week and just chuck the bags in the freezer. This way they are primed and ready for use when you remove them. I remove them a day before my grinder needs a refill. I haven't noticed any difference between freshly roasted and frozen beans.

        I shove sealed 500g bags into sealed plastic cereal containers (mix of random cheap Kmart ones and some systema ones). I have a cramped freezer so this gives me peace of mind that the other things in there aren't going to pierce the bag when I'm rummaging.

        Like mikstylo, I defrost the day before, still in the bag in the container, to make sure no moisture in the air condenses on the beans while they're still cold.

        Tastes just as good as the fresh stuff I think. I haven't done a side by side with non frozen to be exactly sure though.

    Hi OP,

    Our first ever order from you was the Brazilian single origin which we enjoyed. We then tried the Colombian and it wasn't to our liking as we enjoy creamier chocolatey coffee so no hint of sour. We always have flat whites with Jura full auto.

    Would this be suitable for us to try or do you think it's best to stick with Brazilian (or any other you can recommend) for our preference?

      Appreciate the detail, very helpful and it's terrific to know our Brazil SO is a real winner for you. This India Single Estate has a slightly lower acidity kick than our Colombia SO, however more of an acidity kick than our Brazil. The acidity for this one is in the medium level, as it appears your go to is coffees with lower levels of brightness/acidity I'd recommend sticking with our Brazil SO and perhaps trying our SWP Decaf (I know it's decaf, but has delicious chocolate notes with lower acidity levels) and our Moments to Memories blend which has a low-medium level of acidity kick :)

      100% @Tim Mc it's terrific if you're after a clean, crispy fruitiness. If you're looking for funky, winey fruitiness, we currently don't have any coffee in then flavour spectrum availably, but we have featured funky coffees in the past, so I'm sure we will again in the future :)

    Can you try the traditional coffee from the roaster malgudi days?. They sell that coffee for $60-70. It doesn't cost anything close to that in India. A little bit of competition maybe good. I drink that black with a little bit of sugar. Goes great with milk as well.

      We may feature another coffee in the future from India if we find one we're happy with due to how popular this Single Origin was. However, we like to sail in our own direction and only compete against ourself, so the next India coffee we feature will be discover by trying samples from green importers rather than other roasters. I'm not trying to say there's something wrong with you've suggested, it's a perfectly reasonable request, but I just don't see copying others in our future, it's just not how we're built :)

        It is a traditional filter Indian coffee. There is no secret. Just ask an Indian coffee brewer what coffee is used for filter coffee. I'm not aware of any other type Indian coffee in India. Don't miss out on an opportunity.

    I'd tried monsooned Malabar from India before from my old local roaster, so I knew India did coffee. I wasn't a fan of that one though so never really thought much about what else India might produce.

    Grabbing a kg of this thalanar to give it a go, sounds more up my alley than the malabar. And grabbing a kg of the Brazil while I'm at it to hit the free shipping. Big fan of the Brazil in my flat whites and piccolos.
