Agree that it was a pretty seamless process.

I did my application after COB so didn't get any call asking for the income verification. I had that all at hand and uploaded the 3 months of payslips they wanted immediately after the application was submitted.

Was approved by the afternoon the next day.

This was unlike the previous time I applied for the old ANZ Travel Rewards card where I had to go into the branch for some sort of verification. Took ages as I could only go during my lunch break.

  • Applied Friday evening, received a call this morning to say I had two profiles and my application could not proceed until I went in to a branch where they would merge my profiles. I asked how I could have two profiles, guy said he can't explain it to me. Literally, his words lol. I asked why it had to be done in branch and he didn't know.

Dropped in to the local branch on my lunch break and turns out my branch isn't actually a normal branch, they have no tellers and no cash services besides an ATM outside. I told the lady I had applied for a credit card and that I was told that I had two profiles and they needed to be merged. It was at that moment that I knew I was screwed. She had no idea what I was on about and disappeared out the back. Came back and said they had an appointment later in the afternoon to which I said I have a job that I can't just leave at the drop of a hat and was never told this would require an appointment. She took my details and a copy of my ID and promised to merge my profiles during the afternoon. I have very little confidence it will happen.

    Off to a great start….

    • That is really bad luck.

I have an old ANZ online banking profile that was locked after I closed my Travel Rewards card back in 2019. When I opened this new ANZ Rewards card, they had the common sense to just unlock my old account for me.

Hopefully they manage to sort out your issue.

Hopefully this issue isn't due to identity theft or something.

I had the same problem a couple of years back with ANZ- except them wanted to merge 5 profiles. I ended up making a number of phone calls over several weeks, and never got anywhere with it. Like you, the staff didn't know how to merge etc. So the merge never happened. Basically whenever a credit card is opened up and then closed, unless there is another active account associated with the profile it becomes unusable. When you open a new credit card you get a new profile etc. Solution, create a Progress Saver account (no monthly fee), associate it with an online banking profile and keep it open forever. Apply for your ANZ cards using this same online banking login and the credit cards will keep being associated with this profile.

  • Hi my $2k spend today… now lets see how long it takes for me to get that SMS to redeem my points.

Have you set your Auto redemption already? If not, do it.

      • How do I do that?

EDIT: OK, I found out about the ANZ Rewards website… made an account and set up Velocity autoredemption. Phew!

Thanks for the heads up mate. I would have royally stuffed this churn up.

login to the www.anzrewards.com website, select Auto-Redemption, then Velocity points. Recurrence: Every month, Starting Date: (last time I picked 1 week into the future after i met minimum spend to allow for processing time of transactions). Enter your velocity number and details if they aren't already populated.

          • @JohnSy: Just got my email for my bonus points. The redemption process was super quick… I processed the online form and then logged into my velocity account and the points were there immediately!

@Mugsy: Did you get the email when a new statement was generated, or a few days after you hit the spend required?

              • +1

@firestint: Just got my email today. Statement date is July 24 so took exactly a week.

                • @Chaplain403: Was it one week for everyone else? Hit the spend in July, statement generated 18th Aug, still waiting. Just called them and now they're saying please allow up to 60 days (I know T&Cs say up to 3 months).

  • Guys I don't remember putting in my velocity number in any part of the application and have just received the card.

Is there anyway to check that it's linked?

      Read the posts above yours.

  • Anyone else get this error when trying to redeem? I got the email confirming, but when trying to redeem, I enter all my details correctly and this comes up.

The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.

    • Try another browser. Could be adblock messing with it

@Kritik Did this work for you in the end? I am seeing the same error. Tried a different device and it now says the code has already been claimed.

      • Yeh mate it worked eventually. Did you do multiple cards? I realised I was making a mistake because I was using my wife's when redeeming.

      • I got an error when I used the form the first time (something like 'this page has moved'), now it says the code has been used. What did you do next?

For what it's worth, sharing my experience as it's been quite painful as a new customer - I would definitely not recommend.

Needed to book an appointment to visit an ANZ branch for ID verification, which took about 20 minutes, and is a huge pain given banks' limited hours.

Have now been sitting on hold for an hour just to set up an customer number, because apparently their process doesn't allocate one directly (this is the instruction on the welcome letter - call this number), nor did they do it when I visited in person. I can't set my pin or manage via online without this number.

Every other card I've had has been seamless - online only, or a brief phone call. This has been much worse.

    • Again, sharing in case it's useful to others:
      - seems that I need to go back into a hold queue to change the temporary phone telecode they give you, because it doesn't give a self-service option?
      - if you don't want to use the ANZ App, you need to either call them or go into a branch to get your card PIN

Speaking for myself personally, this has been the most painful banking experience I've had, and I intend to churn this card after getting the points and never return to ANZ. Hope others fare better.

    • @userfromaus Do you remember what number you called to get the Customer Number? Letter said call 133350 but no matter what I say into the IVR it just gives me useless instructions like login to the app and then hangs up on me. Really don't want to have to go into the branch again

  • Dumb question can i use this card to pay off my tax owing?

    • Yes. Use Zippay as an intermediary if you want the points to count as qualifying spend.

      • Hi sorry I'm new to this so do I need to make a zip account then once in pay my tax from that using the credit card?

        • Keep in mind ZipPay will likely only give you a $350 limit

  • Has anyone had issues with not getting their application approved with anz cc? I got knocked back, despite having nil issues with every other cc…

  • Interest free period will reduce from 55 days to 44 days starting November 1.

  • Hmmm, hit the spend required on 7/Aug, statement generated 18/Aug. New statement generated yesterday 17/Sep but no sign of email to redeem bonus points yet…

Have auto redemption set up, support confirmed that I've hit the spend required but need to allow up to 60 days to received the email

    • Did it come through?

  • I hit my spend yonks ago but forgot to autoenrol… have since auto enrolled.
Received points related to spending but no bonus points yet. Maybe I need to contact support to see what’s happening.

    • Yeah, I had the same issue. Still no bonus points. Have tried contacting support via phone but I gave up after being on hold for half an hour. Then contacted support through their phone chat, that took about 4 hours and they were unable to tell me why the bonus points weren't assigned, not able to solve the missing points for me. I will give it one last go, otherwise I will ask to have card cancelled and ask for refund of annual fee. Will see how that goes.

      • Try contacting ANZ rewards as opposed to ANZ bank. It might be something they look after instead of the bank.

  • Signed up a few months ago, only issue I had was having two middle names required a visit to a branch but other than that, the card has been fine.

  • As an FYI -

    Account opened 18NOV
    Min Spend achieved 26NOV
    70k points email received 04DEC
    70k points credited Velocity 04DEC
