found this on deep discount as well.
seems to be price matching many local stores so if you think one of those might do better than 10% off you can try find out.

previously posted ATL at $349 from Amazon AU and that was already a decent discount. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/816637
as you can see on 3xcamels usually hovered around $450 to $499. https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B09YXH4DBS

smallest of the X-series speakers but more speaker than JBL Boombox sized speakers so probably better performance. but the Sony is not exactly lightweight so won't be as easy to carry around as a boombox which is half the weight.

  • Nice! I have a JBL PartyBox 100 and it’s great. Otherwise I’d be purchasing the Sony.

    • +1

      afaik from youtube comparisons.

when comparing JBL models to Sony's of the same size such as Partybox 110 vs XP500 the JBL had better sound quality and bass. same goes for Partybox 310 vs XP700. so JBL ftw especially for party situations.
if you want equal sound you usually have to go up one model with Sony e.g. Partybox 310 vs XV900. but then Sony loses it's value doesn't it.

only thing Sony has over most other speakers is the design. things such as the battery lasting longer in hours overall and also over the years.

      • Thanks :) you just saved me from looking up reviews.

        • +1

also forgot JBL models of same size get louder too.

          from Rtings test data.

          Partybox 110: 98.3dB SPL
          XP500: 92.6dB SPL

          Partybox 310: 104.4dB SPL
          XP700: 99.0 dB SPL

so Partybox 110 gets just about as loud as XP700.

  • How does this compare to the Samsung MX-ST40B?
I can't find the Watts for the Sony one. The Samsung one has 160W

    • from samsung specs

      Main Speaker 281.0 x 562.0 x 256.0 mm

it's a similar sized speaker so I would assume they are similar overall.

      Net Weight 8.0kg

      with sony being slightly heavier.

Total Power AC mode:160W Battery mode:80W

I wouldn't rely on these power specs they don't show real power in watts which would be Wrms.

I would just buy on based on the design. the samsung with it's angled speakers shoots out sound evenly to about 180 degrees while the Sony is just forward facing so only really covers 90 degrees.
