SanDisk 64GB Ixpand Wireless Charger and Backup $9 + Delivery ($0 VIC/SYD/ADL C&C/ in-Store) + Surcharge @ Centre Com

130

Price without delivery is good for a straight wireless charger from a name brand, even one in a different field.

Surcharges: 1.2% Card & PayPal, 2% AmEx

Whether it's worthwhile as a backup device depends on your use case. And perhaps your patience with their app.

$19 + similar delivery fees at Umart.
$90 at Amazon

Reviews aren't excellent (3.5) but seem to focus on its use as a wireless charger (don't use case, place it carefully), which are pretty common in my experience.

  • whats efficiency of wireless chargers? Still think wired is much better to mitigate loss while charging

    so for anyone confused.

this is a wireless charger (one of those cheaper crappy ones that requires perfect positioning) with 64GB memory inside.

when you put your phone on it to charge it also triggers the "auto backup" of photos on your phone to the 64GB memory. I think this works by connecting to the charger with bluetooth or WiFi through the app when you set it up. you might even need to open the app before putting it on the charger every time you want a backup which would be crappy.

and then to access those photos I think you just plug the wireless charger's USB plug into your PC and it works like a USB drive.

isn't auto backup done for almost every phone via WiFi to the cloud?

kind of a solution nobody really asked for but it exists. 💁‍♀️

Have a physical backup is a golden rule. For this method if not crappy it is not bad for a non tech savvy like an elderly or a kid to secure their files tho 64GB seems to low for photo backup these days. Still not too bad for the price.

yeah that's what I thought maybe good for grandparents. but if the phone is not the exact size as shown in the picture it will be difficult to centre the phone on the charger and get a connection. also how easy it is to use depends on how the backup works. if it works by just putting it down and getting charger connection that's less trouble, but sometimes these 3rd party apps can be crappy and refuse to stay open in the background. so if you don't open the app every time before you put it on the charger the backup doesn't start. 👎

    • Thanks for the explanation….I was pretty confused!

      • tbh I would expect the memory inside to be something cheap like lowest priced micro sd card or even worse cheapest USB drive memory.

Bii said would be good for backup but I wouldn’t rely on it.

  • Dead link?
