Coles is on special for $95 till 13/11/2012. Is the power voltage compatible here ?

A whole supermarket chain for $95? Damned good bargain, right there.

US version - means 120V and US plug. You'll need 230V-120V transformer, othrwise it'll burn up.

    • othrwise it'll burn up.

or maybe it'll make the coffee a little bit hotter.

    • Agreed, judging by one comment: http://www.amazon.com/DeLonghi-Nescafe-Dolce-Piccolo-Coffeem…

      Disappointing.

        Disappointing.

That's only if you use it in Saudi Arabia.

        • Did you read the comment? It said only 120V, so doesn't matter if it's in Saudi Arabia or here, still doesn't work without a transformer! :-P

        • Ah I see you don't know jv. :)

        • Lol oh I do. Just wanted to give him a bit of shit but not be insulting haha.

        • Scared?

    • Yeah I wondered about that, but this page claims 220-240V input. How do they manage that, does it run across two phases or something like that? I guess a hangover from the original Italian specs?

Not always…Many products these days take any volt from 100-250.But plug is different for sure. $1 on ebay can take care of that

Yeah but those products are usually electronics appliances using switching power supplies which can auto adjust between 110/220. For heavy duty whitegoods that heat or use motors, much less likely.

  • I'm curious; anyone have any feedback on the Gusto Piccolo? Some of the reviews indicate that it's expensive to run.

      • Thanks. This is probably a really stupid question (coffee noob here), but I don't suppose the pods be substituted with ingredients of the owner's choice? That would seem to eliminate the cost issue, and people's problems with the milk / weak flavours and whatnot.

        • you can find refillable capsules online

There are 16 pods cost about $8 per box ie .50 cents per pod. Some variety has 8 milk pods & 8 coffee pods, it will cost $1 per cup of coffee. Coles is having a special $6.40 per box.

  • And aussie retailers always wonder why we buy things from overseas…

Had a comparison at Harvey Norman between the competing coffee systems (Nespresso, MAP and Nescafe Dolce Gusto) the salesman said that the Dolce Gusto contains instant coffee. He let us taste test the 3 coffee systems (just like VHS vs. Betamax!!) and the Nespresso came up tops for the 3 of us followed by the MAP and last is the Dolce Gusto.

So my advise is to choose the machine last. Go to HN, Good Guys, Domayne etc and taste the different systems and once you have chosen which system you prefer, then choose the coffee machine that uses that system.

    • ^ This so much.
When I was a SP for HN, so many people came in and just whisked up the cheapest Capsule machine wihtout even bothering to taste the coffee… then came back a day or two later complaining.

If you find anyone who is demonstrating (I know HN do coffee demos every weekend) just go in and taste before you waste money on a machine that makes a coffee that tastes like dirt.

pffft! Your Harvey Norman store is obviously a little more customer friendly than ours. The store here would rather screw you over than give you a coffee taste test. But then, I'm pretty sure ours must be about the worst of their stores.

    • Not all the pods in the Dolce Gusto range are contain instant coffee. The ingredients are clearly listed on each box.

  • 120V = Kablamo!

  • As has been said above without confirmation of 240V I would not bother with this… while many appliances are multi voltage/frequency these days anything with a motor in it is less likely to be.

  • Bought one from Coles for $95, makes a decent mug of coffee!
