Thanks. Bought Ampol which has 2.5% CB currently.

    • +1

probably not the best as when the right time comes it's usually 5% off instore and 6% off during promos

      • How often does the 5% in-store discount occur? I have only been made aware the latest one when that happened few weeks ago. And is it usually obviously apparent? As in, few ads here and there?

        • +2

Twice a year, and I have been the only one posting the deals on those in-store deals for the last few years. Have a look through the AmpolCash tag to get a sense of how regular AmpolCash deals are posted on this website.

The only way Ampol advertises the in-store deal is in-store at Ampol Foodary, but that assumes the staff at the Ampol Foodary actually bother to put up the promotional signs!

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Much appreciated for posting those AmpolCash deals!

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Legend as always! Will be subbing to that tag now. By the looks of it, every April/Nov in the past 3 years ya? So i guess the next one would be around Nov 2024. I bought enough in-store 5% disc only to last ~3-4months 🥲 should have researched before stopping my stocking up!
Appreciate your massive GC efforts as always WM. 😘

            • @noelhoi:

Correct, except the first in-store deal for 2024 actually started in March, not April, which indicated Ampol is happy for the deal start dates to slide around. Maybe the next deal will be in September or October… who knows!

I bought enough in-store 5% disc only to last ~3-4months

There are other ways to get your hands on discounted AmpolCash cards in the meantime (e.g. boosted cashback deals on gift cards at ShopBack, Cashrewards through the current $10 bonus cashback offer), although it seems like you want to maximise savings by trying to use discounted 7-Eleven digital gift cards or Category Choice Fuel gift cards or Special Aussie Explorer gift cards as payment methods during the in-store deals.

              • @WookieMonster: Maximum Efficiency is my middle name(s) 🤣
Tyvm for your insight, either way we shall keep an eye out! Maybe i’ll even ask the clerk every now and then while purchasing fuel to check if 5% is on or not.
The last time offer was here, it looked like the 2 local stores near my home wasn’t even aware of it, only aware after I pointed out that it should be 5% cheaper on till.

I had been filling my 2007 Yaris and 2017 Jazz with 98 BP for like the last decade coz always believed 98 helps run the engine smoother = lasts longer and more efficiency (+kms) so I had been missing out alot of savings, time for revenge 😈

      • As of the current $10 bonus offer, the Ampol one at 2.5% CB suits me best. There aren't that many other GCs with higher CB that I would be spending on.

      • If you have Westpac/StG cards, 7-eleven GC (Visa) is usable on Ampol and a few other petrol stations, 10% deals there usually. Combine with 5% in-store i think one of the best savings at Ampol.

  • Damn, I bought Coles gift cards just before your post. Please tell me I can’t use the supermarket card at Coles supermarket…..anyways tracked at $10 + $1 already.

    • +2

Sorry, you can use the Supermarket Visa Gift card at any supermarket including Coles. Grab it next time :)

      • I asked you to tell me i couldnt! :) Not on my A-game today at all. Lesson learnt. Cheers

Edit: even worse, I usually get the superswap anyways….in defence my first goto is member advantage, unless there is a bonus like thism

  • Ordered 8:11am bonus tracked 8:29am

  • Does super swap qualify?

    • Yes

      • -1

        Thanks mate

  • do u use the supermarket gc same as the woolworth gc or is it like a visa?

    • +1

Like a visa, you have to add it to wallet.

  • Anything similar for non westpac customers?

    • not for a long time

  • Anyone know if the Home Swap Gift Cards can still be swapped to Amazon?

  • [Westpac] $10 Bonus Cashback on $200+ Spend on Gift Cards @ Shopback via App (Activation Required, 1200 Rewards)

my terms and conditions state “500 rewards available for redemption”?

    • +1

The T&C's in the app state 500 rewards available for redemption. The email states capped at 1200 opt-ins. Makes it sound like more people can opt in than will actually receive the bonus.

      • thanks - i never receive emails from them unless they’re support issues

  • Tracked the 2.25% one the $10 westpac not yet. Just bought

    • The $10 bonus tracked 15 minutes after the initial one tracked for me.

  • Can you use the supermarket GC at Costco?

    • +1

I would be surprised if the ShopBack Supermarket Visa gift card worked at Costco, because it does not use MCCs officially allowed on the ShopBack Supermarket Visa gift card.

      • The main warehouse should use MCC 5300 (Wholesale Clubs).

      • If there is a service station, that is supposed to use MCC 5542 (Automated Fuel Dispensers).

      • I do not know if the tyre centre or food court use different MCCs.

      • +2

Thanks Wookies! Much appreciated. Just saw the OzB MCC link, should have check prior asking:
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/mcc_list#c

      • +1

it used to work but not anymore

        • I was able to use it late last year. But it may have changed since as Jolly mentioned.

          • @DrPotato: yeah it defo worked at the costco food court last year but not last month when i tried

      • +2

Odd thing in Costco is in the food court if you use the kiosk self serve it is 5814 if you order over the counter it is 5300

  • Is this valid for superswap gc?

    • Yes

    • Yes, worked for me. Though the 1.75% cashback is less than some others, e.g. Supermarket Visa Prepaid 2.25%.

  • Can I clarify if I clicked joined. I part of 1200 opt ins?

  • +2

    Looks like no more opt-ins

  • Can the Supernarket Visa Prepaid 2.25% be used to buy Wish Gift card from https://giftcards.woolworths.com.au/?

  • I know it is not the best way to use it for amazon gc, i assume if i want to buy amazon gc, i'll just choose that option rather than using superswap??
Not sure what hamza meant by his headings "Alternatively Superswap at 1.75% cashback includes Amazon and other retailers (including Coles but not Woolworths)"

    • +2

If you 100% want Amazon, then yeah just buy Amazon instead of Superswap, since they are both 1.75%. The only advantage to Superswap is you have flexibility to swap it for different/multiple retailers.

Well technically you could buy the Supermarket gift card at 2.25%, then go to Coles/Woolworths and buy a physical Amazon gift card. However you are only saving $1 for that increased hassle/time/driving.

Buy Home Swap for 2.25% cashback and swap for Amazon via Prezzee, you will save $1 than just buying Amazon at 1.75% cashback.

      • Thanks Hamza

    • +3

For Amazon your buy Home Swap 2.25% Cashback.

      • Ah yes I completely forgot about that. I still have Home Swap in my Prezzee from last time and can confirm that it still includes Amazon, eBay & Officeworks as swap options.

  • -1

What does 1200 opt in mean? And if there are only 500 redemptions?

  • Whats better for regular cashback deals, westpac, bank sa, st george? Or just sign up to them all?

    • +2

Hard to say which is better. St George is new so they have had better options but it would probably even out after a while. Best to just join both Westpac and Bank SA (since you are in SA).

I'm in SA and got St. George account, before they accepted Bank SA, it was a bit of a hassle as I had to go into Bank SA branch to pick up the St. George card, they don't send it in the mail like the email says they would. Hopefully signing up to Bank SA would be an easier process. You can also get this offer to make it more worth your time with BankSA/St. George:

Open a Complete Freedom account online by 30th September 2024 and spend at least $40 on your new Visa Debit Card at Woolworths or Coles and get $10 cashback once per month up to 4 times.

No account fee at BankSA/St.George I believe.

Westpac is an easy signup process, get the Choice account and $5/monthly fee is waived for 12 months, after that you just need to transfer $2k each month to avoid the $5 fee. You can just transfer it in and back out immediately.

      • Legend! Thanks for the in-depth and informative reply!

  • I recently added a Westpac card but nothing's changed in my account. How do I access Westpac lounge? Or what should I do

    • Check on the mobile app. You should have access there.

      • No still says add Westpac card so it hasn't detected my card as Westpac

  • Is it OOS? I can't see the offer. I have Westpac card linked

  • OOS.

0 openings left. Clicked on email and can not join.

    Dang

  • does using wbc card in apple pay work the same as adding the wbc card to the account?

  • Hey all I clicked on joined challenge this morning didn't buy gift card, if I buy now am I still eligible? I still see it on ongoing challenge?

    • That's the problem for me too.

I can't see how many of the 500 rewards are left.

      • Same. I don't think I'm going to risk it.

            • +1

@froddo: @tonester @bk1973 @videlity I opted in this morning and just bought my card. Bonus tracking email has come through as well.

  • Can the Shopback Supermarket card be used to buy a Coles Myer GC from Coles?

    • +1

I know this doesn't directly answer your question but I tried to use the Supermarket card to buy a Netflix GC at Woolworths and it worked but when I tried to buy a Wish GC it was declined. I was able to buy an Ultimate Home GC with it at Coles but I haven't tried for a Coles Myer GC at Coles.

I suspect the declined Wish GC was a Woolworths level block so not sure if Coles will have a similar one for their in-house cards too.

    • +1

Just reporting back - I tried this morning and yes ,Coles Myer GC can be bought at Coles using the Shopback Supermarket GC.

      • But there seems no point doing so.

  • Finally time to stack with this deal I've been keeping.

  • I keep missing out because work/job…
