darn it, i wish it was on a Saturday. I have church on Sundays.

    • OK Hugh G Rection

      • Is that guy related to Harry P Ness!?

  • I should be getting paid to go run out in cold and potentially wet weather!

Is there anything stopping you from just running behind the pack and not paying?

Me personally? Yes, laziness and general fitness issues

Nothing. But no official time, no medal at finish. If you were doing that you can do the route literally any day and time it suits you.

I’m not walking or running if I have to pay someone, and also if I’m not.

I get that events like this benefit causes/charities (in this case cancer research), but what proportion or percentage of revenue is donated (if any at all) is not disclosed. This event, and many others including the Sydney Marathon, are operated by Pont 3 Pty Ltd, a private for-profit organisation who specialise in mass participation events. They also encourage participants to raise money separately. One wonders if Pont 3 even donate any of the takings or simply rely on donations that participants make.

    • I doubt very much that they donate any of the ticket revenue.

Paying to run. Where's the deal?

    • +1

      It's cheaper than full price.

  • You can go there and just run it without paying it. No official time will be recorded
