Google Pixel 8 Pro 128GB $999, 256GB $1099 Delivered @ Telstra (Telstra ID Required)

880

You need an existing Telstra ID in order to get this deal outright: “If you already have a service with us, you can buy outright without adding a plan.”

Saw this as I’ve been waiting for a good deal on the Google Pixel 8 Pro series.

Capacity and Colour options:
128GB: $999, Colours: Porcelain, Bay, Obsidian, Mint
256GB: $1099, Colours: Obsidian only
512GB: $1299, Colours: Obsidian only

Also checked most stores, little to no stock. Need to select delivery (3-5 business days) instead of collect.

Side note: JB Hi Fi chat didn’t want to price match as you need a Telstra ID to get the outright price.

      • nah man positive vibes!

how's the battery for you? last whole day?

        • Battery is great for me! Easily goes whole day and sometimes I forgot to plug in overnight and it still carries me through most of the next day.

Pixel 7 Pro was pretty mediocre with battery but definitely greatly improved with the 8 Pro

    Got this:

    Special offer

Get up to $700 off the Google Pixel 8 Pro until 20 May.

    Excludes online outright purchases.

    • where?

      • Online :)

        • sorry I mean is the Telstra deal or somewhere else?

          • @Poor Ass: Yes, same telstra deal after login to my account. Don't have any active service, but it's an old ex-business account.

  • Will Google store price match?

    • They haven't so far…

  • This or wait for the 9 pro?

    • +1

Wait for the Pixel 9 Ultra. At least until Mid November.

If that is not much of an improvement, at least you'll be paying the same money but won't be getting last year's model. And if you're really not keen on it, you would probably pick up this phone for same price or cheaper. Or maybe you'll get lucky on the used market (eg $800 for 512GB model) as some people upgrade.

  • I bought the Pixel 8 for $699 a couple of weeks ago from Telstra. I prefer the smaller phone.

    • -1

      where was that? jb?

      • It would have been a targeted deal. I got the notification on MyTelstra app.

  • I believe that JB, TGG will price match and we can use gift cards 😀

  • I have a feeling Telstra has pulled the rug underneath and removed the option to purchase the phone outright regardless of having a Telstra ID —> forcing people do go on their plans

My order is confirmed but we’ll see if Telstra cancels it

    • I've been looking for a deal for this phone too — and wish the outright option was still there, but it's not there anymore.

I'm on a current plan and logged in using Telstra ID. So, what gives? we missed the deal?

  • On a previous deal, someone here was able to provide a link for outright purchasing…

    • Do you know what deal it was? can you post a link?

  • +2

"Excludes online outright purchases." I wonder if you can buy outright in store?

  • +1

I bought the Pixel 7 Pro from a previous deal. I regret my purchase. Most of the time, I don't receive calls. I only know I got a call when I get a missed call message. If the person does not leave a message, I never know whether I received a call or not. I did some research and this is a wellknown error in Pixel devices. They will release an update to fix this but this problem has been there since feb 2024. I have already missed lots of important calls because of this. I've tried almost every solution posted on the web but still no luck.

So, if you are considering getting this phone, just beware of this issue.

    • This is the 8 pro tho

    • Have had a Pixel 7 Pro since release. Been rock solid reliable. No issue like this.

  • Hanging on for a return of this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/841332

Waited too long to pull the trigger then.

Unlocking bank apps with your face is so convenient

Does it work for boost users?

    • +1

I'm a boost user with an old Telstra Plus account (no services), was able to purchase outright online. Via Telstra Plus though, not the provided "Mobiles on a plan" link.

  • Anyone able to send me checkout screenshot so I can claim on my 28 degrees price protection?

Google’s price hike of 8 series pixel is not justified with their quality. Price rise for US customers and Australian customers was also different. Actually for P8 Pro. -it was too much to pay, for that useless Thermometer.
I hope their sale is too bad for 8 series so that they’ll learn that Australian Customers don’t pay whatever the price is, and make a better quality phone or make reasonable price like Pixel 7 Pro.
Was using P5,6,7 and didn’t bother for 8.

    • Thermometer is good for baths. Pretty useless for measuring temperature when sick tho

  • Unattainable deal.
Telstra online store requires bundling with a phone plan.
Telstra Plus requires 14k Telstra points.

  • This.or moto edge 50?

    • Better performance, camera and software on the P8P, battery will be roughly the same according to GSMArena's testings.

  • Picked up a Xiaomi 13T Pro 512GB Global version for $929 last week. People are getting gouged for high end phones.

  • You can buy a $2799 iPhone 15 pro 1TB on special for $1900. Just buy that, over $1100 off.

    • Where?

      PS that's $900 off not 1100.

  • Great price in this market. Guess they have a lot of stock.

  • Thanks - I have purchased outright via the Telstra store using points +pay.
Was able to buy outright but pay over 12/24 months via my Telstra bill.. so works out to $80 p/month over 1 year + 14k points.

    Happy with that.

  • Weird I still have the outright option? Can still buy it now for $999 outright.

    • Telstra online store or Telstra Plus?

      • +2

        On the Telstra App

  • +1

Why is the deal marked as expired, I was just able to place an order

  • My local Telstra still has this available to buy outright in store.

  • +1

This deal is still available to Telstra account holders and you can purchase outright, or 12 or 24 month repayment via account.

    https://plus.telstra.com.au/rewards/explore

I just purchased one moments ago with points and repayment - $936

  • +2

Deal is still valid for me as well, but only on the Telstra app. Can't buy outright after logging into the account on the website and didn't have enough minimum points to buy outright using rewards. But on the app, there's an option in "shop" to buy the phone outright that isn't on the website.

Ended up buying an Obsidian 256gb in store today for $1099.

  • +1

It looks like it's still available in store; I dropped into the Eastland store yesterday, and they said there's no expiry for now! :O (Not sure how factual that is!)
