      Agree.
      Battery is the deal breaker.

may be helpful to think of the deal as 2 x cr2032 batteries plus a free headlamp :P

          I doubt batteries are included.

        • Lucky you! Still these batteries from Asian factories are so cheap… poor local battery companies!

Good for kids when camping, they love head torches and are constantly loosing/breaking them

    • Better pack a stack of cheap batteries! Only 25 hour battery life!!
Kids I know forget to turn them off, or torch turns on in bag.
      Still a lot of fun!!

    thanks

    Great, thanks!

These headlamps are pretty terrible if intended for any serious use. Do not rely on them but good price for $2! great for kids!

      +1 for an honest rep

      • +1

I bought a couple of these when they were like 2 for $10 ages ago. I agree with what rep says.

        • +1

you sure its the same ones? i picked up to the 2 for $10 ones and they had a power switch, flashing mode and more leds

        • as well as using AAA (rechargable) batteries, longer battery life, brighter,…

        • ok maybe they arent the same, but nonetheless quality left much to be desired, I reckon i had to superglue them both back together.

    • So spelunking is out of the question? :P

  • +1

    Bought one thanks OP!

  • I picked up similar one with 3 straps for similar price a while ago at the shop. I actually use them when ever I need to do anything behind the TV as generally this place doesn't get much light. To be honest I don't really need for any other reasons! So it was a good price for the price!

  • I bought these in store last year and they are pretty useless. Couldn't work out exactly how to turn it of withou unscrewing the batteries. They flicked on and off while in the drawer so batteries drain. I never used it.

    • i believe you just loosen the cap to turn it off

    • This is a single mode one with no flashing, so must be different model.

  • -1

Picked up one to see if it'd be useful for working inside PC cases - often useful for these cases that are painted black inside, my 1200 lumen light is so bright it makes anything inside that's remotely reflective or lightly coloured dazzle far too much.

    • No chance of dazzle with this! And only 25 hours battery life.
Their site lists this under less than 50 lumen category in Technology Tab.

  • +1

    Thanks OP !

  • Any one know if it comes with batteries???

  • +1

Really only good as an emergency / child's present from a stingy parent / throw away product.
    Less than 50 lumen output
    Only 25 hours battery life
    batteries NOT included
Even with 5 batteries for $1 on eBay, it may get expensive to run.

Bought a $5 3 AAA unit (using on rechargables) from Anaconda with up to 120hrs battery life which is much brighter. Over a short time, this cheapie unit costs more.

And the "Convenient clip for attaching light to other objects" means it is a very simple twist-switch on/off unit with a clip, and a headband that it clips onto.

May just be worth $2 if it comes with batteries. (Have emailed about that.)
    But NO Batteries!

  • Response from Anaconda:
Unfortunately the 5 LED Mini Headlamp that is currently an “online-only” special does not include batteries.
Kind regards, Melissa Whinnen, Anaconda Customer Care

No longer much of a "cheap stocking filler" due to the usual curse - batteries not included

  • I bought one of these, And never ever got it to work, Straight out of the box.

    • Take it back! I still have credit from Ananconda after a pair of their pants ripped in the bum in Japan (fabric failure, not stitching). Only gave me option of replacement or credit (no receipt). Hoped to use last credit on this deal, but not worth it.

    • +1

never ever got it to work. Straight out of the box.

Of course it won't work because it doesn't come with batteries :)

  • +1

    Bah No stock apparently.

    • All gone!
Now expecting a spike in CR2032 battery prices as so many people realise they have to buy batteries for these! And then only 25 hours use before the next set…!! Cheap is not necessarily good value.

      • dude relax, we get the message, it doesn't come with batteries…it's $2.20 delivered, something for the kids to play around with and not worry about.

        (10 for $3.50 from Oz)

        • Hey, I'm very relaxed!
Some people (including the OP) expected the torch to come with batteries - so I emailed Anaconda.

Have bought Anaconda torches on special before & was disappointed by the light output. I'm a sucker for gadgets like torches, so was interested in this deal.

And having bought cheap torches for my friends children (lots of fun!), I was not popular when their Parents needed to replace the button-cell batteries (rather than recharge batteries) every day or so because the switch was left on - or suffer the wrath of an upset child! Thats also a lot of hazardous waste (lithium batteries, not the child)!

A slightly dearer torch (eg 3AAA Anaconda torches like http://www.anaconda.com.au/Product/Camp-and-Hike/Lighting/5-… with 3 switch modes = more fun, up to 4 times the battery life, for $5 including free delivery) can save a lot of money - if using rechargable batteries. And those headlamps are still available. Thats what I was recommending.

A bargain is hardly a bargain if it costs you more after a short time, causes more rubbish in the bin, and gives little (light) benefit. The $2.80 difference in delivered prices of these headlamps is less than 10 batteries from the Aussie seller!

If you read some battery deals on ebay (the first of your links - I read it earlier & rejected it), they say they unwrap & repack the batteries to save on postage! "We will repackage this item to reduce shipping weight, paper, bag and waste. We guarantee the item will be treated well, and protected well. Please help us reduce waste.Let us protect the environment together! Thanks." I really trust them! (I have bought a cheap lot of button-cells before, only to find they were flat in a couple of months sitting in the packet.)

I just bought some CR2032 batteries from eBay Aussie seller that lists manufacture date, warranty, & ships in original Panasonic blister pack. Costs a little more, but want them for a low drain application - batteries last for 2 years. Don't want any problems with leakage in sensitive electronics.

        • OP - Thanks for adding headtorch link to details.
There are other Anaconda $5 ones with free delivery.

        • FWIW - just received my torches today…and they come with batteries in the blister pack :)
I put the link of the pic at the top of the post!

        • Great - so Anaconda Customer Care was wrong! How is the light output?
(Still a more expensive option, when factoring cost of use, compared with the $5 delivered ones if you have rechargable AAA batteries, due to short battery life, etc.)
          Have fun!!

        • Turned out to be a good deal.
Don't know why Anaconda said it did not come with batteries as it is stated on the package - in photo.
          3.5 Lumens - can't expect much light from button-cells.
          Wish I had bought :(

  • A warning about buying batteries on eBay
My CR2032 batteries arrived (promptly) but in EXPIRED condition.
(sent from Saving for Aussie in Beaconsfield, Vic - rated as a "Top-rated Seller" with 99.9% positive)

Were flatter than the 2 year old used batteries I was throwing out!!
(Soon to be available on eBay, along with expired milk, etc)

Listed as "2 brand new PANASONIC CR2032 3v Lithium Battery in original package/free postage"
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130736…

These are unopened but EXPIRED (flat batteries that show a little life in battery meter - in 'low' range, before falling to no useful charge in a few seconds) and certainly not "brand new" PANASONIC CR2032 Battery.

Date on pack is 2012-5 which was stated by seller as Each battery has a manufacture date imprinted on them 2012.05. it's not expire date, but must be use by date.

Totally useless product - only good for bin.
May not have been ripped off for much, but multiply that by how many may buy…
Raised PayPal dispute. Can't post how bad this was on eBay for another week.

Should have gone with this deal for the batteries, but Anaconda said did not include batteries!
Maybe thats why they are selling these torches off so cheap & said "does not include batteries" - batteries near expiry, so an unsaleable item?? (Hope not for all those who bought!)

Just another reason why I like using rechargable batteries, especially in high drain applications like torches!

    • Turned out the batteries I was sold must be ancient!
Seems eBay seller made out EXPIRY DATE was manufacture date!
Current Panasonic batteries have a date of around 2022 on the back of pack. These were 2012.

The seller saw this differently… "there is problem with quality control when the batteries made in factory obvisouly" & "it's inpossiable to get such old stock. it's genuine Chinese Pananosic authorised products. anyway i resent Maxell ones".

Of course the seller just refunds when they get caught, cancels the eBay purchase, no adverse comment can be recorded, and seller keeps their perfect possitive Top-rated Seller status & on to next sucker!!!! Very sus!

I had gone with this seller as they quoted these batteries were 6 months old, but were 6 months past their long use by date. I had done a bit of research, and bought from an Aussie seller. So be careful!

      • Seller sent another set of batteries - Maxell ones with expiry 2018. Also flat on arrival!!
Tested with 2 analog battery meters - shows FULL, than drops to REPLACE over a couple of seconds. Doubted my equipment at first, but a further voltage reading showed under 3V.
My suggestion would be to avoid this "Top-rated Seller"!

  • Just got mine. (Earliest delivery ever) they DO come with batteries.

    • Bonus! Hows the light output?
What is the expiry on the batteries? Maybe why Anaconda said no batteries.

      • +1

Light output: Whatever you are trying to see in the dark (ie: book, watch, breast) needs to be about 1 inch from your forehead.

        Battery: None noted.

        • Thanks - usual light ouput for a button-cell torch.
Still - the batteries are worth it if fresh. And a head-band thrown in.

(Just realised breast was on your viewing list! Play a lot of Drs & Nurses?? The thought of someone putting a headtorch on to view something so intimate… but I suppose mood lighting is better than being blinded by a 1000 Lumen torch.)

Had black out here 2 nights back & got out my 3 Anaconda headtorches with 1AA or 3AAA rechargable batteries - good to great light in emergencies. Got those on special over the years for $5 (4 months back) $10 & $20(1W) & still going strong after many overseas trips & mountain hikes like the Overland Track (TAS) for 12 days. $20 one also has strong red LEDs for spotting wildlife at night. But my favourite $10 one uses a strong 1/2W LED powered from a single AA battery which lasts ages & its easy to carry/buy a spare AA when travelling.

          Enjoy the fun!
