  • Not a deal? The 7900X is available at $609 at other retailers most of which you can pickup hence avoiding delivery fee.

    • I don't think that means its NOT a deal.
There are plenty of people who can't pick up because we don't live in a major city.

      • You are correct, and I made mention of this below. Sometimes (unfortunately) people can't make it to a store hence we are trying to offer the limited QTY's available at cost price. Delivery prices have been confirmed so we provide this information for transparency.

      • Irrelevant as there are offers you can purchase from that are still cheaper after factoring in delivery.

You can't just say it's cheaper to invalidate my response and not prove it.
          (I know there is cheaper)
Also the person I was replying to never said that it was cheaper delivered in their comment. So you're making something new up to argue with me about.

Thanks Wicko, I appreciate the heads-up. I'll double-check the prices at other retailers and their pickup options to ensure I'm sharing the best deal possible.

    • Awesome will buy elsewhere as it's cheaper - and by the way, what stopped you checking your competitors price before posting here ?

      • We always do. When our supplier lets us know that they have limited stock at a good price, we offer that out to customers at cost price. Unfortunately not everyone is able to get to a store so we confirm a delivery price to the furthest regions in Australia to provide transparency.

    • Nice to see responsiveness from the rep. Ozbargain is a tough crowd, especially given how competitive the PC / parts market is, don't take it personally, just keep striving to deliver proper bargains and you'll win the hearts & minds!

  • I wondering anyone can give an idea between 7900X and 7800X3d for not much gamer will more video editin. Thanks

3d CPUs are for gaming. 7900x is around 20% better than 7800x overall. A touch more than that for the 3D version. Do not buy the 3d models if you wont game with it. 7900x is a beefcake CPU which is more for encoding / rendering. Using this CPU for only video editing, might be overkill. If youre working with 4K and HDR, constantly muxing files it will be quicker though. This CPU is power hungry. You could look at the 7900 which runs at half the wattage of the 7900x and performs extremely similar. Can be overclocked to get the same performace if needed too.
If you want less heat and a smaller electricity bill 7900 is an option. Also fractionally cheaper.

7900 also comes with a cooler. However, the cooler sucks. It does the job at cooling but it's too loud. You load anything and the cpu boosts like hell which causes it to get much louder.

Additionally, the cpu runs wayyyy cooler if you saturate it on prime95 than it does just sitting there and you load one application that causes it to boost.

Today, I put a peerless assassin on mine and it's cooler (though that wasn't really a big problem) but again, it's loud. I turned off the boost and it's better but still rubbish. With boost CPU runs at 60 something c whilst boosting to show one poxy application that is using like 8% cpu and 40 something whilst smashing prime95 :-)

        • At 60C when boosting it sounds like you have some headroom? If noise is an issue, why not adjust your fan curves to keep the speed down until you get to a higher temp? I would have thought something like 75-80C boosting / 60C all core would be acceptable, you're still miles off throttling at those temps.
