Linen Shirts $49.95 (Was $129) or 3 for $135 + $19.95 Delivery ($0 with $199 Order) @ Charles Tyrwhitt

550

After spending hours of browsing racks for decent quality linen shirts and finding nothing for less than $80, came across these, which from previous Ozbargain posts get decent reviews.

Picked up a couple as they're the only linen shirts that seem to come in slim fit for us who can control ourselves around KFC.

Also 3 for $135 via the home page link, thanks to @ihgjuk

Linen Shirt was $129 now $49.95

Not that linen contains cyanogenic glycoside.

So do many stone fruits and almonds.

What's the point you are trying to make?

      • -1

I'm just pointing it out to people who may want to know…

This deal is not about 'fruits and almonds', it is about linen products.

You've been here longer than I have. When does the jv account ever have a point to make?

  • The linen is very heavy, I would suggest more for European climate. I returned mine and got the Uniqlo shirts which are lighter.

    • +4

Yeah, everyone has their preference. I personally prefer the heavier ones because they don't feel like cheaply made loincloth, but agree that they can be a bit more insulating.

      • +22

although the heavier one is less breathable , thicker linen = less highbeaming my clients with my dark pepperoni sized nips.
never been a fan of undershirts/singlets with these kind of shirts, hell even oxford/dress shirts.

though i guess there is something to be said about the subtle powerplay as you catch them entranced

        • +1

Yeah, I have a white linen shirt from Uniqlo but don't wear it because…nips. Good for summer though.

        • +1

Is it cold in here or am I just excited to see you?

    • are they see through?

    Shots fired.

  • uniqlo ones seem cheaper and more suited to the australian climate

    • +10

      They look cheaper too.

I like Uniqlo but CT are probably two classes above in quality IMO. They also have the best returns policy I've ever come across.

      • I have to agree…no quibble, even after washing a garment

    • I have both and CT are far better quality! They're slightly thicker yes but they do feel like they will wear better over time.

      • does it get hot/scratchy in summer and how do the sizes compare between CT and uniqlo? I do like the uniqlo's breeziness but it is a bit too flimsy

        • I have three Uniqlo linen shirts. They are properly scratchy, even after many washes. May have to revert to CT

      • I have some cotton CT shirts that I've been wearing for quite a few years now. They don't fade and take ages to wear, even the non-iron tech lasts until the fabric wears out.

Love it how they give you brass collar stays free with each shirt (do they still do this?).

      • Which ones crease the most, thick or thin?

        • +1

they both crease because Linen but CT ones look and feel a lot more premium due to the thicker material, if that makes sense.

  • -1

no free delivery no deal :)

  • Am I the only one who finds linen shirts a bit scratchy?

    • +2

I'm with you on this one. Plus unless they come with a free iron, no thanks.

    • Depends on the linen. Better quality is less scratchy. Off memory the Uniqlo/Muji stuff is particularly scratchy.

    • The CT linen shirts feel really nice.

  • The slimest fit shirt there has an even larger waist than those at Industrie, which is a regular here on OzB for linen shirts. What's the brand comparison based on for this one to be more a slimmer fit? Thats one of the things I already don't like about the Industrie shirts is how wide they are on the waist

    • Agreed that Industie's fit is like a parachute, i'd assume the extra slim fit would do alright.

      • +1

I find that the Industry ones fit fine for a skinny person, even the 'relaxed' fit. I just wear them as casual shirts over a t-shirt.

    • Can confirm, this is the one single thing I don't like about CT, the waist is too big for slim people whatever size/measurement combo you get. I don't have Industrie so cant compare but I wouldn't describe CT as parachute fit, they still look and feel good just a bit wide at the waist.

Apart from that they are the best shirts I've tried especially for the price. Only TM Lewin came close but can't get them any more.

      • +2

TM Lewin are shipping to Australia again (via UK store)

        • Great, thanks for letting me know!

  • 3.2% cashback @ Cashrewards too

  • How much is the delivery?

  • How are sizes here with classic and slim (regular) - which one is true to size?
Seems like Slim is regular build

  • What is the difference between a "waist" and a "shirt waist"? On their sizing chart they make a distinction but do not elaborate what it is. Google is little help too.

  • +13

Probably worth its own deal, they're $5 cheaper with this link:

    https://www.charlestyrwhitt.com/autsfb

    3 for $135, then $45 a piece. Free shipping @ $199.

  • Thank you, great deal, grabbed a few things

Picked up a couple as they're the only linen shirts that seem to come in slim fit for us who can control ourselves around KFC.

You'll look adorable in them, I'm sure. Remember, you can't call yourself a twink after 30.

  • Look like very nice shirts and i love my old CT shirts (not linen though). But these look like an absolute pain to iron? Out at least they would need ironing before each wear. I get away without ironing a lot of my shirts.

    • +1

All linen needs to be ironed. Or you wear it wrinkled.

  • it's not showing $49,95 anymore :(

  • Anyone have these and assembly label linen shirts? How do they compare size-wise?

  • I call that getting tricked by a business, that shirt's hella dough

  • Thanks, stocked up. It's been a while since my last CT Shirts splurge

  • Anyone else been charged an international transaction fee by their bank? I did.

    • UK company. Makes sense…

  • How to get free delivery? $70 not really worth it

  • Using cash rewards changes the prices so check before you pay

  • Thanks to everyone for recommending these shirts.
Got my delivery yesterday and quality is top notch, worth $50 easy. I'm 180cm, medium built - size L slim fits me perfect.
I like it so much that I ordered some more :)

  • Is linen a good fabric for keeping warm in winter?

    • Negatory
      Flannel is what you want
