  Agreed. I found Flybuys a pain to use. I eventually figured it out but you essentially needed the physical card to load money onto it and you needed to sign up for flypay to pay online.

  I had a look at the Ultimate gift card website, and it does not list Officeworks under the Exchange for eGift option for any of the gift cards that feature Officeworks. I also had a look at the gift card exchange portal (using an Ultimate Everyone gift card) and I cannot see an option for Officeworks on there.
  
  Additionally, it is against the Ultimate gift card terms and conditions and the Officeworks gift card policy to use an Ultimate gift card to purchase an Officeworks (or Coles Group & Myer) gift card.
  
  It is possible (at least in theory) to use 1x Ultimate gift card on the Officeworks website, as Officeworks is listed on the Ultimate gift card as a participating retailer that accepts Ultimate gift cards online. The issue is that I have seen multiple reports on OzBargain where their Ultimate gift cards were rejected by Officeworks' website at the checkout page (and I suspect the Ultimate gift cards were getting caught up in the fraud checks Officeworks appears to do when you attempt to use a Visa card on their website).

    I had a lot of trouble using the Special Gift Cards "Techhead" card or whatever at Officeworks online. Ended up going in-store to redeem. My friend had similar problems, and solved it by making the purchase on the phone. Very annoying.

    You can't split payment on gift cards, it is to prevent subsequent payment using gift card while the first payment has been processed. It gets messy having to refund mid flight or to stage the payments, making things unnecessarily complex.

    ShopBack supermarket gift card is a digital Visa or Mastercard which works in supermarkets and food stores. From Woolies or Coles perspective it is just a credit card, so can be used for purchasing anything.

Hello, could I please confirm, how do you know it includes variable load as it doesn’t specifically say it in the small print? In the past, it has only been the specific cards pictured (in this case $50)… I would like to get 5 x $500 by getting the variable load but want to make sure I will definitely receive the points!! Also my Cole’s has only put the special tickets on the $50 cards.

  Variable cards are included. Here's how you can tell:
  
  If you set your Coles app to In Store and search 'Ultimate Gift Card' you will see a Flybuys icon next to all gift cards in the Ultimate range – including variable load – indicating that they're all in the promotion.
  
  Coles always specifically mentions it if variable load cards are excluded (e.g. here and here).
  
  They usually only show $50 cards (or the nearest stocked denomination) in the catalogue even though many others are also included.
  
  The last 20x Flybuys points offer on Ultimate gift cards in February also didn't specifically include variable cards but everyone who bought them still received the points.

  Yes, but you can only do this by going to the exchange portal on the Ultimate gift card website.
  
  It is against the terms and conditions of Ultimate gift cards (and JB Hi-Fi’s gift card policy) to use an Ultimate gift card to purchase a gift card directly from JB Hi-Fi itself. I tried to do that via Apple Pay on the JB Hi-Fi website a couple of weeks ago, but JB Hi-Fi cancelled my order for “security reasons”.

      Correct, because the exchange portal is operated by Blackhawk Network (the Ultimate gift card scheme owner/operator), not JB Hi-Fi.
      
      You can find the link to the exchange portal on the Ultimate gift card website, and you will need the 16-digit card number (starting with 4), the expiry date and the CVV2 to access the exchange portal.

Why is the list of retailers for Cole’s everyone different to aldis everyone card and different to the ultimate cards website? Namely sunglass hut is not there?

  The source of truth for participating retailers on Ultimate gift cards is the Ultimate gift card website, as outlined by clause 1 of the Ultimate gift card terms and conditions.
  
  Sunglass Hut was only added to the Ultimate Everyone gift card (and a few others) on 03 April 2024, and it looks like Coles and ALDI have not updated their websites and/or catalogues to reflect this change. To be fair, I would not blame for them for lack of updates, because participating retailers change on at least one type of Ultimate gift card on average every few weeks.
  
  Additionally, if you look at the physical gift card packaging in-store, it should say the date the gift card itself was manufactured. The physical Ultimate Everyone gift cards you see at your local Coles or ALDI would have been manufactured at least a few months ago, because it takes time for a gift card to be manufactured, eventually mailed to (or dropped off at) a store and then put it for sale. That is why you need to rely on what the Ultimate gift card website says, rather than solely the gift card packaging.

  I just checked the list of participating retailers I have extracted from the Ultimate gift card website since the introduction of the Ultimate Celebrate gift card in late last year, and I have never seen JB Hi-Fi or The Good Guys listed as participating retailers for that gift card on the website (which is supposed to be the source of truth).
  
  However, I just checked a photo I took of an Ultimate Celebrate gift card in late 2023 and can see the JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys logos on there, so I am not sure whether the mistake is with with the gift card packaging or the Ultimate gift card website.

  When I went in store it was a little confusing at first because there are other brand gift cards which also say Celebration or Celebrate etc that had the JB logo, but when I had a closer look I realised they weren't Ultimate Gift cards

Have bought Ultimate Celebrate 1 hour ago, have tried to use it online at Officeworks and got this error "There was an error processing your order. Please try again or try a different payment method.". Has somebody come across this?

  Did you use the expiry date shown on the front of the gift card packaging? If you did, it sounds like Officeworks’ website is rejecting your gift card, due to it failing the security checks it appears to be running on online purchases. (As you can see in the link above, it is a common issue.)
  
  The only two workarounds I can suggest are:
  
  Call 1300 OFFICE and ask for an explanation for your Ultimate gift card being rejected. You should also be able to have a rep place the order for you over the phone. (The only issue right now is that this phone number only operates on weekdays.)
  
  Go to a physical Officeworks store (but that assumes you can actually get to an Officeworks store with minimal fuss and the store has the item you want in stock.)
  
  Btw, you cannot use an Ultimate gift card to purchase any gift cards at Officeworks, so if that was what you were trying to purchase, I would expect the Officeworks website to reject your Ultimate gift card.

        @ldcan: The webpage on the Ultimate gift card website listing all retailers says both The Good Guys and JB Hi-Fi accept Ultimate Celebrate gift cards, so it looks like someone forgot to add them to the individual Ultimate Celebrate gift card webpage (which is where I take the data on participating retailers from).

    Again. Thanks for this comment - especially first dot point. The first person who picked up the call said I cannot place an order through the phone if I am paying with a gift card. Decided I will try the second time and the person was happy to process the order with gift card.
    
    They are aware it's an existing issue that some gift cards aren't accepting on their website.

      Did you tell the first rep that you had a gift card or a Visa card? In terms of processing payments, Ultimate gift cards are treated by Officeworks as a Visa card, not a “gift card” (which is actually only in reference to Officeworks gift cards and Coles Group & Myer gift cards). You cannot redeem Officeworks gift cards and Coles Group & Myer gift cards over the phone at Officeworks, so I suspect the first rep thought you were talking about those gift cards.

  You are using the Ultimate gift card incorrectly.
  
  If you look at the webpage for the Ultimate gift card you have, it will show you how each participating retailer accepts Ultimate gift cards. Uber is an exchange-only retailer, which means you must go to the Ultimate gift card exchange portal¹ and exchange the full or partial balance of your Ultimate gift card for an Uber eGift Card. You will need the Ultimate gift card's card number, expiry date and CVV2 to access this exchange portal.
