Hikvision DS-2CD2T46G2-ISU/SL 4MP AcuSense Fixed Bullet Camera w/ Strobe Light & Alarm $190 + Del ($0 ADL Pickup) @ Comms Direct

50

I was looking to replace a camera that fell over recently. Have had good experience when I bought from Comms Direct before, so I checked their site and came across this. Spoke to them and looks like they have excess stock and are wanting to move that excess. Checked around and others seem to have this mid $200's to $300+. Not sure how long this will last but at the price, I replaced a second camera, so I grabbed two.

    I would probably go the Reolink RLC-811A 4K https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005002253497341.html?gateway…

    4K or nothing tbh

  • Hikvision

Does it come with a banjo and squeal like a piiiig?

    • Agreed that non-NDAA certified cameras need to be under strict control, but majority of problems mentioned in the article are due to network misconfiguration (i.e. camera should NEVER be accessible through public internet.
In residential setting, keeping it offline and accessible only locally or via VPN is usually enough.

What would you recommend instead? Axis, Bosch? Very costly for a home/small business. The government will spend our taxpayer money on this largely pointless operation. Hikvision has not had any proven cases of phoning the CCP mothership. Have been using them for years with solid reliability, and no strange web use. Reolink and Dahua seem ok too. I would avoid Eufy. As mentioned by someone else they should not be connected to the web. But most people will connect them to the web, so at least Hikvision allow stream encryption in Hik-Connect. I would stick with 4K models though.

I find the Reolink cams all suffer from motion blur a night, during the day is fine , at night anything that moves is terrible.
especially their 4k cams as they haven't upgraded the sensors just squeezed more pixels into it. the exception is the cx410 , which I think is quite good , 4MP and much better then any of their 4K ones

        • CX810 is being released soon (within weeks) and is what I'm waiting for to replace all my cameras. We may not see it until the end of the year or early next year in Australia if the CX410 is anything to go by. Plus side to that though is any bugs should be squished by then.

    • Just on this topic - does anyone know where these removed cameras might end up at auction? I wouldn't mind buying a few if the price is right? I'm not really familiar with ex-gov auction sites

  • this is a good price, the model mentioned is also available in 4mm lens (not in this deal by the looks of it)

  • There have been recent announcements made by the Australian Government to remove Hikvision and Dahua CCTV equipment from commonwealth government buildings, due to fears that they may contain spyware
