  • An SFX PSU is significantly smaller than an ATX PSU. How much smaller?
    A standard ATX PSU is 150mm x 86mm x 140mm,
    a micro ATX PSU is 150mm x 86mm x 100mm, and
    an SFX PSU is 125mm x 63.5mm x 100mm.

An SFX is a major space-saving improvement over even a micro ATX PSU.

Nah i dont think its that.

The general rule of thumb is that if a gaming orientated product is adding random letters to their product lines, it means its got either extra features or less features.

Cool letters like X and Z mean theres something extra under the hood, also in corsairs case there is also i, which means it has integrated monitoring (icue)

When they start using, L, A, V, Q, E, G, S, P, F, L you should really make the effort to see what they're trying to bait you into buying, if the product name has more than 2 letters, its basically the above scenario, but on a whole other level of dodgy.

There are exceptions to the rule, but they are exceptions, not the norm.
This is unronically a thing, show me a good product with uncool letters.

I can't read the tone and tell whether you're joking or not but at the risk of being no fun, let me just point out that the "-L" denotation has an actual meaning

        • I don't think you know what you're talking about

          L-U-B-R-I-C-A-N-T

        • Rule of thumb doesnt apply with almost all of corsairs PSU products, they generally mean something though can be confusing AF to work out sometimes

SFX-L is 30mm longer in length than SFX.

        SFX PSU is 125mm x 63.5mm x 100mm
        SFX-L PSU is 125mm x 63.5mm x 130mm

Starting to seem like the best-in-class trio that were the SF450, SF600 and SF750, which were quietly withdrawn from the market here last year, aren't going to get a proper replacement :(

    • Fortunately, SF850 and SF1000 are in the works, expected to see more about them around Computex

      • Personally, I'd rather see lower TDP on both CPU and GPU as the next innovation.

Otherwise, in a few years time my computer will be heating my whole house during winter.
