Not the lowest, but a good price. Seems like Dell likes to alternate between this current price and $599.50 in the last few months.

Alternatively, Dell Outlet Refurbished going for $539.00, if that floats your boat.

Don't forget your work/uni codes for discounts.

P.S. Anyone recommend a slimline soundbar/speaker that pairs well with this? More for YouTube/Movies.

  • Has anyone bought the refurbs before?

    • +1

I have. I'd go new for that price diff though. I think these have a 3 year warranty but maybe refurb 1 year

    • +6

Dell factory refurb's units are as good a new, and generally carry the same warranty as new.

      • No there not, the screen is, but the few I had to return had banged-up sides, plastic missing around the screen and scratches on the back.

    • +2

I've bought one new and one refurb. Both units fine, only difference was a slightly dinged up box on the refurb

    • I would have thought refurb you're less likely to get a dud as they would have checked everything when they fixed it up.

  • Get the TAOTRONICS Soundbar SK-0018 OFF ebay or smth or banggood or aliexpress whereever they sell it

  • +4

With uni discount and dell membership (free) it comes down to $612 or so.

  • Bought one for 600 during the last sale, ATL was 500 I think, great monitor.

Beware that the HDMI2.1 of this unit is the the full-speed one. In my opinion, I will pass it and get LG 27GR93U.

    • There are different HDMI 2.1 speeds?

      • Yes. This hdmi2.1 bandwidth is 24Gbps, half speed.

        • What implications does this have? Just curious as I own 2 of these. I can get 144fps without issue. Haven’t really noticed anything else but it’s mainly just a dual screen work setup.

          • +2

@zubzub: I am not a specialist but I am pretty sure that you can't reach 12-bit output color depth in the Nvidia control panel with the full output dynamic range. If it is a full-speed HDMI2.1, you can enable this option without any issues. It doesn't matter if you don't care. But I still prefer LG one.

            • @MichaelAU: Do you have the LG? Because they both appear to be 10bit panels. So if they can both reach 4k 144hz @10bits, is there any practical difference whether it's 24gps or 42gps?

              • -2

@Notatightass: I don't have LG. I am waiting for the sale. I have a Samsung monitor, it can reach 4k 144hz 12bit, full dynamic range. 24Gbps can't reach full dynamic range. I am not sure if it can be 12bit or not. 10bit is not a problem anyway.

                • +2

@MichaelAU: It sounds like you have a really nice Samsung monitor, but that's not what we're comparing here. It's between the LG and the Dell and whether there's any practical difference between 24gps vs 42gps for 4k 144hz @10 bits.

Also the LG is at the moment, $120 more and you lose 5 inches in screen size. So is it worth paying $120 more to lose 5 inches for a 42gps bandwidth which makes no practical difference?

                  • -2

@Notatightass: That's why I am still waiting for the price drop. I have a very good impression of LG panel qualities. Mwave offers 788 for 27GR93U with $100 bonus store credits. I still prefer 100 price drop rather than the store credits. Don't get me wrong, 539 is a good price if you are getting the refurbished one. 669.9 I think it is not a good deal.

                    • +1

                      @MichaelAU: Let's assume they're the same price.

You're still avoiding the most important question.

Is it worth paying the same amount to lose 5 inches for a 42gps bandwidth which makes no practical difference?

edit: and if you're going to compare discounted prices, why do you compare the discounted price of the LG but keep the Dell at it's current price.
It would make more sense to compare the Dell when its $599 or even $506, which they have been in the past.

                      • -3

@Notatightass: It is a personal choice, you don't need to care about others' opinions. For me, I will pay more for LG panels. I just mentioned the bandwidth speed issue on this model. As I said in the previous comments, it doesn't matter if you don't care about it. If you like it, just buy it. :)

                        • +1

@MichaelAU: Lmao, you're still avoiding the question.

"I am not a specialist but I am pretty sure that you can't reach 12-bit output color depth in the Nvidia control panel with the full output dynamic range. "

You're bringing this up as a negative, but neither panel can do 12bit anyways. So why bring it up?

TBH I don't really care about your opinion nor am I trying to convince you that you shouldn't buy the LG. But you're bringing up the 24gps as an "issue" when it has no practical difference. This is my point.

                          • @Notatightass: OK, I respect your opinion. I also said, "It doesn't matter if you don't care". If you don't care, just buy it. I gave up because I found out the limited bandwidth issue.

                            • +3

@MichaelAU: Ok, I was just a little confused why you were bringing something up, which from what my understanding, had no real practical difference.

However, after some research I found that it will matter if you plan to use it with a PS5. XBOX and most modern video cards can use DSC to "upscale" 8bit colour to 10 bit colour to overcome bandwidth limitations. PS5 doesn't support DSC so will only do 8 bit colour. How much this matters to each individual, I'm not sure, but on one of my monitors, using HDMI 2.0 I could only achieve 8 bit colour. After changing to DP 1.4 it was able to display 10 bit colour and the difference was noticable. The colours being more vivid.

      Your not making any sense.

The units hdmi is full speed so you don't want it???

      • -3

I just prefer the one with full hdmi2.1 speed if I need to spend over $600 over a 4k high refresh monitor. If you don't care, it is fine.

        • +1

But your comment said it's not full speed?

          • @miicah: Ok, I will edit it.

          • @miicah: The full speed is 48Gbps. So I think I am not wrong. I should address the bandwidth speed. But I am not a monitor specialist.

Got it for $490 last EOFY sales directly from Dell, so I say hold for another 2 months unless you really need it.

  • +2

Had issues with mine from the $500 sale. Dell support is surprisingly quick. They sent a refurbished unit and I received it within 3 days, however that unit also had issues. On the third unit now - Fingers crossed.

    • What issues did you have?

      • Screen 1 (new): Would disconnect and reconnect on a 1 minute loop.

Screen 2 (refurb): Would power down and up again on a 5 second loop.

Screen 3 (refurb): Yet to unbox. Losing hope for this screen.

        • Did you try another cable?

          • +3

@MichaelAU: Dell asks you to not only try a new cable, but to even make the screen some breakfast in bed, cuddle it, whisper sweet nothings and then propose to it before sending it back…

Took about 2 hours of guided troubleshooting before they were happy for me to return it.

        • +2

i would never accept a refurb on a new screen purchase…

          • @DarkAvernus: Dell responded: 5.2 Products presented for repair may be replaced by refurbished goods of the same type rather than being repaired. Refurbished parts may be used to repair the Products. Where a Product is repaired or replaced under the Standard Warranty, the Product will be warranted for the balance of the original Standard Warranty period.

I got a pair of these in the last deal in March, with uni discount came down to $622 each. Fantastic monitors, I am runing a 3080Ti and both screens at 4K, 144Hz with 10-bit HDR enabled over display port. Great productivity screens, very clear text. Also excellent for gaming, I play MSFS2020.

    • What game are you playing?
I'm looking to get these fit sim racing

      • +1

I'm playing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. I have a full setup with yoke, throttle quadrant, guages, rudder pedals etc. These monitors are great, the HDR effect is really good for night flying, and the built-in powered USB hub is convenient for all the flight controls.

  • Ant suggestions for joining 2 of these together and getting rid of the border?

    • +1

      get a Samsung g95nc monitor

  • Whether buying or already own, don’t forget to update your screen firmware:

    https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-au/drivers/driversdetai…

“Fix to intermittent screen corruption and image degradation during heavy graphical load.”

  • How are these for productivity?

I’ve got two 34s (Alienware oled for gaming desktop and an older 3415 for my work laptop) and wondering if 4K will be better for general office use

I prefer BENQ (not a gaming monitor) at $639

    https://www.benq.com/en-au/monitor/professional/pd2705u.html

also if you have an .edu email education prices are very good

    https://www.benq.com/en-au/campaign/benq-australia-education…

    • At this price, I prefer U2723qe, better hardware and better price

    • +1

Love the idea of a kvm built in to the monitor. More manufacturers should be doing this

  • +1

    no usb c

its 2024 and they still making monitors with out it

    • Target demographic doesn't necessarily require USB-C on this screen, which was initially released for sale in H1 2022..

  • Awesome screen but be careful with it:

    1st - 6 dead pixels
2nd refurb - 3 dead pixels, and plastic all around was banged up
3rd refurb - 5 dead pixels and hot glue was around the screen
4th brand new - Perfect! Although, annoying that it takes a bit of handling to get the screen straight on its arm

Dell was great in all replacements though. Horrid luck.

  • Got mine, no dead pixels near new.

    • Did you get the refurbished one?

  • +1

Update the price on this. Its $599 now.
