Uh (pushes up glasses), it used to be $1349 for the vacuum model only.

The Combo version (with mopping, which is what you want) is still $1599.

Dunno what OP is on. Whisky?

  • You can get much better specs for price paid elsewhere

    • Any examples?

It's very hard to compare robots purely on raw specs. I highly recommend checking out a YouTube channel Vacuum Wars where he does very detailed reviews comparing robots.

The thing about Roomba is their dual roller inlet design makes their dirt lifting performance, especially on carpets, class leading. Even though their suction is on the lower side, Roombas regularly feature amongst the best in his real world, dirt lifting tests. What hits their overall score is their price tag. They are notoriously terrible for value for money.

At this price tag, it's a lot more compelling to buy one. Never pay RRP on a Roomba, it's basically robbery.

  • The cheapest lidar equiped robot is better than this.

Completely disagree, i have had 4 robovacs over the years. I have the ecovacs t8+ (lidar) which was more expensive than my j7+.
The ecovacs had the mop attachment break 3x, the whole unit 1x, it forgot mapping on a monthly basis, it would randomly re-do rooms it already had done, mirrors on my sliding built-in wardrobe confused it into thinking there were other rooms (mirrors must throw off the lidar).
My j7+ has been working better than the ecovacs and hasnt had parts fail. Its definitely not perfect but in general its less headache so far

    No LIDAR

Not a real issue with this robot, and has not really been an issue with Roomba's optical nav system for a while now. The move to a front facing camera with a light means its optical system is far better at obstacle avoidance than previous Roombas, so less reliance on its bump sensors, especially in low light situations. And no one else has a AI based avoidance system at the moment for avoiding things like pet waste.

      • Incorrect. Every other premium robot brand uses AI based avoidance system - roborock, eufy, ecovacs.

  • It's interesting to see how some traditionally expensive brands now offer vacuum cleaners at prices lower than those of Chinese brands, which used to be known for their affordability but now sell for almost three times their original price.….

No mopping? They can kiss my hairy ass (the animal!)

  • Can someone please help me to find best robot vacuum for budget upto 1.5k ? More i research and watch YouTube videos more im confused… i was thinking of ecovacs x1 omni but many people have told me its pricier for fancier useless stuff…need it for a relatively big house (40sqm) with hard floor but carpets around …mopping is welcome if it actually cleans but i'm skeptical!

      Check out this youtube channel:

For your situation I'd recommend as a minimum, a robot that lifts its mop and has excellent navigation. Don't really worry about suction strength and power, because the robot is so close to the floor, it isn't really as important.

I bought the Eufy X10 Omni, and it is awesome! I have a majority hardwood floor and it does a really good job mopping the floors, it can also lift the mops so it can vacuum any rugs you have without needing to remove the mops. If you have access to the Good Guys Commercial store, it's only around $1100.
