It doesn't on pricing, but IMO Circles' network coverage beats Felix (Optus vs Voda). You can't compare apples and oranges.

I made the switch from Circles to Felix previously and the coverage was notably worse (at least in suburban Melbourne).

It might be usable for some, but I'll be avoiding Vodafone MVNOs in future.

      • +2

I get far better reception on felix than I ever did on Circles, but of course YMMV

      • +3

Only in Victoria, most telcos gave up on Victoria, not the case in most states

        • Never got felix reception across 4-5 Sydney suburbs I lived in (Campsie, Eastwood, Liverpool etc.)

          • @UrbanLegend: Vodafone worked fine in all 3 suburbs. You could try Optus, you will get reception in only 4-5 suburbs

            • +2

@sunnyc: Would help if you name the suburbs where it worked in both cases.

    • I also had a bad experience with felix, can’t get good reception even in Sydney CBD

If you know you will use a lot of data then that's a great deal - I think $15 for 50GB with rollover is a different kind of customer who like to use some data on the go for a really cheap price!!

      • On the website the $15/mo plan says its only for the first month. then its $20/mo Is that correct?

The previous $10/mo plan only just increased to $15/mo ongoing, where has that plan gone?

        • hi @pjm you should check the links above for the offers.

$15 for 50GB per month Postpaid SIM
$5 discount per month for the first 12 months
Bonus 40GB data per month for the first 12 months
After 12 months reverts to $20 for 10GB

          no more $10 plans!

Not trying to be an antagonist but I'm genuinely curious. Do people who need unlimited mobile data use their phones as their primary internet connection?

I have no more information about this provider than this deal has noted (have never heard of them before) but even with up to 500gb of rollover data, surely that would give people enough of a buffer on their phones.

I have a 12month prepaid plan with Woolworths mobile which gives me 10gb a month. I use maybe 2gb. Home is another story, I use about 1.5-2tb/month there.

      • +1

I use google maps, Spotify and Reddit a lot and constantly on the go, and use hotspot to my laptop work on the go as well, so I can rack up data quite quickly.

        • +1

Fair enough, maybe it's the hotspotting that is the majority of it because I stream Spotify and watch YouTube on lunch breaks and still seem to average under 350mb/day.

        • We are touring north island of NZ and using google maps several hours every day. Been here a week and have used 900mb of data. This is with tourist research on the web and occasional Reddit browsing. So, 4gb a month is what that would pan out to. I guess I'm just saying google maps in our experience so far is not a big data hog.

          • @16k-zx81: You can even go one better and download the offline map for NZ whilst connected to WiFi. That'll save you even more mobile data.
Google Maps doesn't use much though as you've found out.

      • I used 230GB in March, 342GB in Feb

        • +2

          Wow! How? 😂
Linux ISO downloads on the go? Or is your phone your primary internet connection at home as well?

          • @whitey1212: They definitely tethered their phone and used it as primary connection, or are in the 0.000001% of the population who used it in a outlier use-case.

        • Yeah but doing what? Torrenting movies?

      • +4

Amaysim recently informed me that I have used just over 7gb of data in the 8 years that I have been with them 😂

        • How can I get dial up prices on my mobile right

        • That's gotta be up there with someone's Nanna who has a prepaid phone in the bottom of their handbag and doesn't know how to use it to do anything other than phone calls, 7GB over 8 years is basically background data. Good effort lol.

      • +3

How is it weird that people use their phone on the go lol Cant be THAT hard to understand other people have other needs.

        • May be some people are narrow-minded ?

Users' needs, preferences & circumstances are UNIQUE & DIFFERENT.

For couples who can live with 100Gb /mth for home-internet, mobile-data is a worthy considerations & avoid NBN (expensive & cheap-plan are restricted to LOW-speed). Sure there're risk with money-back offers, but the reward is there too.

Fyi, off-peak period, seeders permit, 4G+ mobile network, metro-area can give users 6 to 8 Mbps as per noted by qBittorrent via usb-tethering. Note: ACTUAL-speed & not 'typical-evening-speeds, or theoretical-speed'. What NBN plan will give such speed ?

      • Work friend of mine has an 180gb plan. She is always taking and uploading photos/videos, and chews through data. I told her she could set it to upload on wifi only but she wasn't concerned.

Myself? Im on a 7gb boost plan and don't use any of it unless I need to hotspot - Im almost always on wifi.

        • Usually apps that have the "use cellular to download/upload" setting have it turned off by default.

    • Felix gets mad at me for putting their sim in a modem though. Have to tether a phone to a router instead, annoying.

    • +2

Not sure about Circles Life, but Felix has a 20mbps speed cap. Good enough for basic use, but we’re living in 2024 where 4G can get you 200-300mbps and 5G double/triple that.

      • +1

        No speed cap!

        • whats the max speed ?

  • +6

Optus 4G only in case anyone was wondering

    • +8

Yes Optus 4G+ network thanks edumacation (living up to your name well there)!

      • +1

In my area, I am 50m away from the Vodafone, Telstra, and Optus 4G towers and Optus by far is the best / fastest so for me Optus is the best for my place.

      • +1

@worbittonsdeals your cashback has been unavailable for the past 12hrs

      • +1

        Hahaha I like your sass

  • +4

    My budget is $10/month

    • +10
      • No esim though

      • +3

Blokes going to have to give up a cup of noodles every month to afford that!

    • +1

If you have cba and yello benefits plus, you can get MORE Sim for $9/month. Telstra coverage.

      • $9 plan is 4G though

        • +2

Yeah. Curious on why do people need 5g on their phone anyway? I understand if it's used as internet modem, but for normal phone usage 4g is plenty enough and more battery friendly they spotty 5G

    • +1

If you can stretch $1 they have 30gb for $11 a month (6 months only)

      https://au-activate-shop.circles.life/circles30/pre-checkout…

  • If you exceed your data for the month, are you shaped or does it stop working until your month resets?

    • +4

Once you run out of your plan allocation, data will be charged at pay-as-you-go-rates of $0.01/MB

      • Ta. Will have to check if I can turn this feature off.

        • Can this feature be turned off to avoid excess data charges?

          • @jamba: Unfortunately not. I asked their support team, and they said it can't which is a bit annoying if you ask me. I find it hard to believe they can't technically do it and would suspect it's more a case of them not wanting to do it so that they can make money through excess charges. I know with my Catch Connect and More Telecom SIMs, if I exceed my data it just stops until the next month ticks over or I buy more data.

  • Do Circles do a credit check ?

    • Yes they do. Saw it on my credit check bureau.

  • +1

Can I get 5G? And do you support Apple Watch?

    • +3

5G not yet but I'm sure it will come soon with all providers moving to 5G this year. Circles don't support Apple Watch yet!

  • +10

Great if you like having your money continually debited after you cancelled your plan, could possibly be the worst company in aus

    • Yep, never again.

    • Same.

    • -1

That's unlucky.. check in with the support team to see what happened? Can always go to your local Circles shop for help?

  • Does this support call conference?

    • Can support multiple calls together yes not sure what you mean by call conference though

      • Can it merge 2 separate calls into one (3 participants)? Because I read somewhere Optus limits other companies using their network from allowing this feature.

  • I’m currently with circle on the same plan for 2-3 years now (39$/month 100GB/month). Is there anyway for me to switch to these plans?

    • @worbittonsdeals my partner is an existing customer too, but is clearly paying a lot more. Any chance to change to these new deals?

      • hi hi you can always chat to customer support team to see what deals are available to move to. If not, go to your local circles shop and ask for support

        • He did and hes paying $39/month. I wanted him to have this deal instead

          • @kimba88: this deal is for new customers - what did support say they could offer your partner?

            • @worbittonsdeals: He was meant to be on a $45 plan. They reduced it to $39 and thats it. Pretty much double on what is on offer in this deal.
I personally pay $24/month with optus and get 100gb. I also have access to 5g and cheaper media subscriptions. My partner will probably look to leave circles soon because $39/month is still a lot of money. Is there any way he can get this deal?

            • @worbittonsdeals: What's considered new customer?
Was on a previous deal but have ported out for a few months.

      • Are you successful in chatting with customer support?
I got rejected coz the rep kept saying this is a deal for new customer.
I am considering to port out to Moose for that 11.8/month 25GB plan for 8 months, and might try to port back in a future deal from Circles…

        • Nope. They dont care about their current customers

  • +1

The Westpac70 works on the cheaper plans and discounts it to $10, the image banner says 70gb but the base is 10gb and the bonus 20gb so really only 30gb.

Does anyone know if this works?

    • It's a different promotion. Choose the one it's better for you

  • I’m on $39/100GB with Optus, should I switch?

    • Nope. Try retentions to see if you can get an extra $10 month discount.

    • Do what is right for you! It's always good to check in with your current provider and see what they can do for you. Although $20 for 100GB is pretty tempting considering it will almost halve your monthly cost for the same data

    • how did you get $39/100GB deal ? i'm paying 59$ which will be 62$ next month..

      • I was on a 20GB for $30 plan (I think?) then they changed it to a 30GB for $49 plan over a year ago with the proviso that on “good will” they’d slash the price to $39/mth and give extra data, so I’m assuming any time now they’ll take away the extra freebies I’ve had.

I’m pretty sure they offer a similar deal to people who port in from other providers too.

        • i'm with them for over two years.. thinking of porting to Boost or Woolies.
I don't think they will go from 62$ to 40$ if I say i'm porting my number.. I only need 40-50gb data.. i'll check anyway..

  • @worbittonsdeals I have 4 phone numbers with Vodafone (for the family) under my name, if I transfer all of them to circles under my name, would they all be eligible for this promotion?

Also, to confirn if the simcard can be used on a modem?

  • +4

be aware that these services are postpaid.. Calling countries not listed in your plan results in significant billing charges, avoid heart attack.. Know what you're buying .

    • Can you just turn off international calls in their portal or something?

    • hey Antfan I've called out Postpaid in each offer so everyone knows :) Also if you click the offer you can see there's no international calls included and need to add them on

  • +1

Can you change plans during the first 12 months and still receive the bonus data?

    • No you can't you will lose it to whatever plan you change to

  • How about LTE and Apple Watch support?

    • No apple watch cellular support on these, i think they’re only available through the major telco plans.

  • ShopBack seems nerfed at the moment. Likely just temporary, as it says in SB App,

    • @worbittonsdeals

I've been unable to collect ShopBack, it states *Circle is currently unavailable for cashback *.

      @worbittonsdeals
Do you have any info available on your end?

      • Hello I have no idea about shopback sorry!!

        • -2

It's easy to say "you know nothing" but these things don't organise themselves, so I suggest you speak to someone who Does know, why it's your error message displaying an error?
I've never seen this problem anywhere else before…

          https://ibb.co/Zzzgfs

          TLDR; Avoid Circle

          • @parad0x: Thanks for the feedback @parad0x There are many teams in the business, it's a Sunday, and it's a different website that you've tagged not shop back.

I don't know about shop back you should check with the customer support team I just post these deals and can answer about these deals

  • Curious to know, I’m already with circles, how come it’s not possible to downgrade? It comes up with This number is already ported in or activated. Go to manage orders to view more details.
