Bin 707 perfectly reflects the Penfolds ‘House Style’ through a cabernet sauvignon lens: intensely-flavoured fruit; completion of fermentation and maturation in new oak; expressing a Penfolds understanding of multivineyard, multi-region fruit sourcing.

Full-bodied and with proven cellaring potential, Bin 707 retains a secure place among the ranks of Australia’s finest cabernets.

Ive tried this before at a Qantas Lounge on Christmas, for what you pay its very underwhelming in my opinion

    • I don't think anyone wine is worth that much if you're going to drink it.

  • Based on the bottle size, the "Standard" amount of included mls in a cup I'd be very curious to know what this is per glass, not enough to work it out myself, but nevertheless interested enough to know and write the comment lol

    • A 150ml pour would cost $120

  • How much would a 25yo bottle of 707 be worth? I might still have one or two lying around.

      • i can't see a price.

          $999 my friend

          • @cheaponos: Ooooo…. jackpot

I paid $80 when they were released.

              @jv: That’s a great ROI!

              • @cheaponos: Early retirement, here I come !!!

            • @jv: Have you kept it properly - in a cellar, or somewhere in a dark and cool place (wine fridge)?

If not - it's not worth that much.

              • @Jef Tino:

in a cellar, or somewhere in a dark and cool plac

                Cool dark corner under stairs.
No sunlight, not near any heating or cooling vents.

            • @jv: the 1990 was $30 when released.

Buy, store, resell at profit, anyone do that?

    • Do you think the people buying these after 10-20 years are after one kept by an ozbargainer for a bit cheaper than one kept in adequate wine storage?

I know my bottle of engagement present Grange I enjoyed last year didnt stay in one place while I was storing it. Ended up in a Vintec towards the end, but how would you know what you're buying?

    • +2

Pretty risky for the buyer, given that storage conditions are unknown.

Also its quite a low yield investment. People generally store for their own enjoyment.

    • not anymore, some wines that take a quantum leap in price due to margin and write ups, then increase flattens, 1990 grace went from $110 to $500 in a couple of months as was written up as best wine in the world, the $1991 barely went up at all and it has taken 30 years to creap up in price from $500 to $900,

If you empty the bottle, the 707 turns into LOL which is what you deserve.

  • At retail ~$700-900, that's about the price for a brand new French oak barrel (pre-inflation).
