Sennheiser HD 280 PRO Headphones $118.00 + Free Shipping @ Soundcorp

80

Appears to be a great deal to me. JB are selling them for $199.
They give the Audio Technica ATHM50 a run for their money. Some people prefer them to the ATHM50.

The Sennheiser HD 280 PRO are closed-back, circumaural headphones designed for professional monitoring applications.

Suitable for a very wide range of applications, the exceptional 32 dB attenuation of external noise makes the HD 280 PRO particularly useful for use in a high-noise environment.

Accurate, linear reproduction for critical monitoring applications
Replaceable parts for long life
Neodymium magnets for optimum sensitivity and wide dynamic range
Good attenuation of background noise
Lightweight design
Comfortable fit due to soft, circumaural ear pads
Replaceable, single-sided coiled cable
Space-saving design with collapsible, rotating earpiece
Supplied complete with screw-type adaptor to 1/4

Can get this from amazon for less than $60 refurb or $90 new. You would need a US address then.

    • Yeah, but by the time you include shipping you might as well
buy them from an actual store hear in AUS.
also if you're in melbourne you can actually try before you buy, which is important for headphones.
Either way you cant go wrong, they are great headphones.

      • Your right about a new one, but refurb might work out to be 20-40 cheaper…but yeah. probably not worth the trouble.

  • "They give the Audio Technica ATHM50 a run for their money. Some people prefer them to the ATHM50."

I was just about to ask how do they compare :)
I've already ordered the AT's so will have to give these a miss ..

    still a good deal though

    • I have owned both, these are flat in response and lack bass. I was running it off a headphone amplifier too. That said good for mixing applications/if you want a flat sound. It clamps pretty harshly on your head but it does isolate quite well.

Personally much prefer the ATH M50s, they are just more enjoyable and musical and also somewhat more comfortable.

I also reckon the HD280s look quite bland and ugly.

      • I agree with you that comfort wise the ATHM50 win, as an owner of a few studio headphones including the Audio technicas which i find a a touch hyped at the higher frequencies. Love them Though.

I posted this deal since i have used the HD280s before (not for long) and I think they are worth more than that. Yes they are a bit flat but they dont lack low end.
The sound depends on the user and the application and as with most headphones you get used to their sound. Especially if you are mixing.

        • Indeed, the low end has made them pretty popular in the bass guitar community.
I personally love the look of these far more than the audio technica stuff, but hey, that's just personal opinion. I don't own either of them.

  • I have received these in the mail and any sort of high treble sounds come out with a little static, I wonder if anyone else has come across this?
