I'm in need of a good, refurbished laptop that runs Windows, not for gamming, preferably priced around $550.
If anyone knows of any reliable options or has recommendations, I would greatly appreciate your input.
Thanks

Presumably it is for gaming. But definitely not gamming.
Wow you must really hate OP to recommend this budget landfill.
Sorry I work in IT, at least OP give us a budget, otherwise I would recommend this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/841383 :)
How unfortunate.
Part of doing IT correctly is supplying the best option for the job within budget.
@Mechz: I went under budget by $1 😉
@avoidfullprice
Primarily for MS Office use,
I came across this option on https://www.recompute.com.au/dell-latitude-7400-14-intel-cor…
Would you say this one is better than the ones mentioned in the other post?
Set an alert for refurbished laptops on this site. Buy one that gets a lot of upvotes. Winning.
That's not really a great price, which this is 3 years newer (although with a crap battery) - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/840881
The other ones mentioned aren't refurbs, they're new and pretty average.
Also you can reply to a user by hitting the "reply" button.
How do you do this "Set an alert for refurbished laptops on this site. Buy one that gets a lot of upvotes"?
Depending on whether you need warranty. A new OEM battery can easily cost you $100+ plus anything can goes wrong. :(
Personally, I will look for a HN Acer Special with i5 https://www.harveynorman.com.au/acer-aspire-lite-15-6-inch-1…
It is $100 over budget, but you get new parts for everything and at least 1 year of warranty.
For $150 more, you can get this https://www.harveynorman.com.au/acer-aspire-3-15-6-inch-i3-n…
More memory (16GB) and very power efficient processor.
Would you say this one is better than the ones mentioned in the other post?
I would say your linked laptop will be more responsive than the ones in the above post
I also agree with others the price is not great for a second hand specs laptop. The CPU is from 2017. I am not even sure it will support windows 11 without deliberately bypassing installation checks
Are you a road warrior/student? Then light weight and good battery matter.
Or to mostly keep at home? Get bigger screen, unless you have space for an external monitor.
Check out ACT https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/177/i.html?_ssn=bneacttrader&sto…
For your budget you could get a surface book 2, with high-res screen, e.g.
Thanks for the URL's, I am leaning toward the HP EliteBook x360 1040 G6 i7 8665U 1.90GHz 16GB RAM 256GB SSD 14" FHD Touch Win 11

Will propably upgrade the SSD.
Been almost $100 cheaper for the same via ebay earlier in month - search ozb (i bought one)
I used a $30 discount coupon from eBay Plus when I bought it. It wasn't quite a $100 cheaper, but still, I got some extra savings.
Got one last week with the Ebay refurb deal for $342. Very good condition and worth the non discounted price as well. Can go for this.
I got this from them at the end of last year. Was perfect for my sons school
2nd refurb I have got from then with no problems
They have some good prices when ebay have the 17% off sales

Good value there if you want to save a bit more.
Lots of advice in old threads regarding refurbs. I've also seen some recent deals on 10th/11th gen refurbs though haven't looked into them.
If you go the refurb route, choose one with a 8th gen plus intel CPU.
I've bought various refurb systems for family - t480s, carbon X1, yoga 380 and a Dell 7390. The Dell was cheapest at $219. I prefer the Lenovo systems personally.
I've bought 4 refurbs laptops now - from Australian Computer Traders and Max Trading Group. I've also bought 2 USFF systems from Metrocom. Checking battery health, they've all exceeded what was listed, however, this may just have been luck of the draw.
Imagine buying a laptop that can't run windows in 2024
If not for gaming, what is it for?
Your question is quite open
