  • Does not seem to work with my android head unit. Anyone had any success here or is it just for phones ?

    • The real question is - what app are you using that doesn't have an equaliser like this built in?

You'd have to install it on the head unit.

Head unit doesn't have an equalizer?

thought this was a fishing app

  • I'm not a sure why people need a Bass Boost. Compared to real music (classical) or even oldies pop, the lower frequencies are overwhelmingly powerful in modern music. Only on vinyl do they get tamed down; the stylus jumps out of the groove otherwise. I sometime listen to audiobooks on my Android phone; no point to boosting sub 250 Hz frequencies for speech.

A 5 band EQ with no description of frequency cutoff isn't very good for a payware application. I guess people will just pull the leftmost band up to max. But since it's temporarily free may as well claim it, if if you won't use it.

It has a 10-band mode with labels

    • I'm not a sure why people need a Bass Boost

Depending on which car - each with a different sound system - I jump in, the sound will be tinnyer or in other ways yuckier. This can help for that.

      overwhelmingly powerful

Sometimes I want more than that.

These apps don't always work on all music - eg they'll boost a lot more than just the bits you actually want boosted - but sometimes they make a decent difference.

    • My earphones are quite neutral and I need a bass boost for my metalcore music otherwise it sounds flat

  • I tried but didn't notice a difference when just using the phone stereo speakers… Maybe if I had a headset?

Also would this work with YouTube?

    • Why would you expect to notice a difference with phone speakers?

      • They are good speakers for a phone, but yeah I get it, for headsets etc

    • Some phones know their internal speakers suck (or don't suck, but won't to protect them or ensure they sound good even when outrageous levels are played through them) so they have a built-in compressor to prevent overdriving. With rubbish single-band compressors, you'll notice the whole level of music reduces when powerful notes are played, but with decent multi-band compression, turning up bass with an app like this is effectively reversed by the lower band compressor to protect the speaker and keep the music sounding less distorted. It's a good feature really, so long as it doesn't affect bluetooth or 3.5mm outputs.

Good for listening to quiet podcasts with one earphone that just isn't loud enough to hear properly.

    • This was exactly what I thought too.

Just remember wavelet and rootlessjamesdsp exists. both free and will do your basic "bass boosting" and volume boost. autoeq built in is useful AF as well

  • Installed this this morning and sounded crap through Bluetooth, so turned it off. Haven't fiddled around with it yet though.
