Any good deals on a Cosine Wave Inverter ?

    This one doesn't phase me.

JV always going off on a tangent

      • +8

That's looking at it from a different angle

        • +9

Watts going on here, i dont get it?

    • +5

You can hack these pretty easily by rotating the inverter 90 deg.

For the people that negged jv….Make sure you don’t leave it in the sun as this will give you a tan wave.

  • Now we just need a deal on LiFePo4, Battery Box, Solar and a battery charger…

  • How are these compared to the kings? i just got the 1500watt kings for 150….

    • +2

I've read a few reviews on the kings ones that suggest the 1500w rating isn't realistic, and some complaints about it cutting out frequently.
I haven't tried the kings one personally though, and have heard the opposite about their 3000w model, but I didn't want to risk it.

Pick your kings buys carefully, they've got some stunners and some shockers.

Reviews in general of Kings products are of 'budget quality, you might get lucky, but it seems their products are not built to last

    • +4

These are definitely a tier above Kings, I personally have the 3000W Renogy and it has been flawless running an induction cooktop.

I install a lot of this stuff, mostly Enerdrive, but if people can't afford enerdrive I recommend this brand.

      • How much to install one roughly?

    • +1

I've got the 3000w one from Kings and have no issues or concerns with it. Pretty happy with it.

  • What size wires are needed for safe function of this invertor? (12v 200ah battery)

    • +1

Will depend on the length required.

2AWG should be fine for most shorter runs, 4AWG if very short.

      • thanks

        • Don't forget to fuse it also, Renogy also sells ANL fuses with mounts to suit, the 100A fuse should cover it unless you expect to draw over 100A which you really shouldn't with this inverter.

  • The pair of short cables that come with it are undersize IMO, and they're so light I suspect they're aluminium not copper, so even if you're very close to the battery it's best to get new cables…

I bought one of these a few years ago mainly to run my ebike charger in the campervan and for the odd occasion I have extended power outages at home, it's had very little use other than using it as a load at about 500w to cycle and test batteries, and I've only ran it up to 1000w to test it and make sure the inbuilt circuit breaker worked, which it did, all in al it seems ok for the money (even though I'm not much of a fan of Renogy gear in general).. …

Personally, if I wanted to run close to 1000w often I wouldn't buy a cheap 1000w inverter, I'd buy a good one or a cheap 2000w… Same as most things, you get what you pay for, if you buy cheap it's wise not to push them too hard…

Also, I like this has a "ups function", I always thought once it becomes redundant in my campervan I might end up hooking it up to my old storage batteries to use it as a UPS at home or such…

  • Just a noob question. Can I use it with my old car battery for occasional use of 600watt kettle .

    • It's unlikely an old car battery will handle the high current drain the inverter requires (600w=50amps) without the voltage dropping so much that it trips the inverter out on low voltage…

  • Another option (no idea of quality)
